According to file system timestamps, Marie Brennan (then Marie Griffiths) recorded her beautiful setting of Psalm 34 toward the end of 2007. (Can it really have been that long ago?) Pat Fiorello (now Fr. Pat Fiorello, then a young audio engineer up visiting from the University of Hartford) recorded it at Marie's apartment on North Winton. The extra voices in the chorus are also Marie - Pat recorded her singing it in a few keys and layered the audio. (Brilliant.)
The translation Marie used is the 1991 revision of the New American Bible's Psalter, with minor modifications. (Except for verse 3, which looks to be right out of the RSV.) I don't love the NAB Psalter - but neither do I hate it with the fire of a thousand suns, as I do certain other parts of that translation.
The versification, though, I've taken from the Revised Standard Version (there are limits).
Thank you to Marie for giving me permission to share this! I told her it seemed like such a shame to have this beautiful music locked away on a hard drive when people could be using it to worship God. Her reply: "Well, how could I say no to that!"
