Battle of Bikini Bottom was one of the first games I ever played on the PS2. Getting a remaster for the PS4 means that I pretty much gone full circle. It's crazy thinking about it.

Hoping for a port of the original Xbox version to newer consoles rather than some kind of remaster, remake or sequel. The original engine has a lot of personality that I'd hate to be lost in translation. Also, this seems like the most cost-effective method for the company as it's announced the revival of several other titles. (also from a speedrunning perspective it'd be great for the original to be playable on more platforms so more people can participate in the competition)

And after years of waiting, we finally get "SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated"! The excitement is filling me up! My only concern is that it's being developed by a brand new studio called Purple Lamp Studios, and they do not have a track record of games or high-profiled games they've created to say the least. However, I am optimistic and just happy the day is finally here!

2 months ago, on August 20th, THQNORDIC said on Twitter that they would not be working on anything Nickelodeon related. (yet) So their acknowledging that we still want to see New Nick Games. At least their not abandoning this deal. As much as I want a BFBB Remaster and a Spongebob Movie Game Remaster for PS4 and Switch, we just gotta wait..

I played the original version, and I gotta say, I loved it. Fun abilities, a good amount of platforming, great level design, it was probably one of the best PS2 games I've played. (First place award for that will always go to Burnout 3, though.)

Maybe they could do this in a trilogy-style remaster a la Crash with the three games in the pack being the Heavy Iron Trilogy (BfBB, The Movie, and Truth or Square). If this were the way they would do it, it would be great if they could add in things that were coded, but scrapped and they could fix glitches.

I cried a little.. BFBB was my very first game. It holds a very special place in my heart. I love everything about that game, I know it's glitches (and how to exploit it a bit). If it's remade? I'd cry tears of joy and pay however crazy amount to get it, and the movie game! I barely had a chance to play it, so I'd love to have it back!

BFBB REHYDRATED GOT ANNOUNCED I only grew up with the movie game on GBA/PS2 and CFTKK on Wii, but this will be a great way to experience what is known as the most faithful SpongeBob game. Maybe the levels from the movie game can be added as DLC.

I wonder if they'll do what Rareware did and release all the games on one disc and title it the "Nickelodeon Collection" or something like that. It'd be nice to see a sequel to Battle of Bikini Bottom too.

I wouldn't exactly get excited about an HD remaster of Battle for Bikini Bottom just yet, because something about THQNordic's list seems off. They just listed the Nickelodeon shows in general, not specific video games. Even some of the Nick IPs that were listed (like Catscratch) didn't have their own video games outside of appearances in the Nicktoons crossover series. I don't know if the list is referring to planned new games for these series in the future, but at the moment, I'm really skeptical. Look, I want a BFBB remaster as much as anyone else here, but until I see some screenshots and a trailer, I'm not going to get hyped for this just yet.
