My first (and only) time seeing Six Feet Under was around 2004. They played a venue in San Diego most notable for pop-punk and emo bands and straight edge, but Cattle Decapitation was opening for them and I wanted to show support for them. Cattle was getting big, but nowhere near as big as they are now. When Cattle started, there was maybe 50-60 people. Next up was SFU. Almost the entire venue emptied, at most 15 people stayed for SFU. It was hilarious. No moshing, the crowd just stood there. I'm sure they stayed just to watch the trainwreck. Chris was visibly angry on stage.

I'm guessing that his voice is probably shot because he smoked a lot of weed through So many years That's my guess you know... There's gotta be a time when you gotta realize that if your voice isn't gonna cut it anymore. Then it's over period. I sing and play guitar myself, and I realized that at 52 years old My voice isn't as strong as it was 25 years ago. I do metal but I also play classic rock and jam stuff...But I realized that and I don't really sing that much Because I know that my voice has changed and it happens when you get older. It sucks having to lose your vocals as you get older, but if that's what happens and you can't do anything about it that it's time to say enough is enough and time to step down. we all have to retire at some point in our lives. Whether it's from work or whatever , and there has to be a point where you have to make that decision.

I'd been a staunch defender of SFU for sometime now. I've just always dug their groove oriented death n' roll approach. There's a million Tech Death bands out there so, when I wanted death metal with a groove, it was good. I even like Graveyard Classics 1 and 3. Felt they had new life with Undead & Unborn. Think Crypt of the Devil is an overlooked killer album. Torment is where I was like.... well this is just not memorable whatsoever. Now this album.... yeah, there's no defending it. I haven't even heard all of it yet but WOW.... just wtf?
@bumface1810 Жыл бұрын
Barnes vocals on Graveyard 1 are one of his best post CC efforts- pretty damn killer. Problem is from Warpath onwards his growl began to slowly degrade. The first four SFU albums are enjoyable if basic stoner DM, if you liked Barnes in CC, but after True Carnage his growl just becomes too weak. Anyway, one way Barnes could regain credibility is to go back to a thrash style vocal (if he can do it) and make a thrash album, since his death growl is fucked.

Especially with all his work in Cannibal Corpse and DEICIDE. I saw SFU live once in 2012 in Worcester MA. They played with Suffocation and Revocation. Every time Barnes attempted a scream part, I swear someone was standing just off stage blowing into a whistle. As to try amplifying his screams. I did get get to meet Barnes outside the venue before the show, next to his bus. Even met guitarist Steve Swanson inside a restaurant across the street from the venue. That was cool.

I have the album playing on KZfaq right now, had to listen to it after such a brutal review, and to be honest..it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever heard and I’ve been a Metal fan for 40 years. Yeah the vocals are what they are, even the pig squeals.. I laughed I have to admit, but I’ve heard worse. The band sounds decent, maybe not that inspired or original, the solos are cool though. Lyrics, who truly cares it’s not what we listen to death metal or extreme metal in general. I’m hearing all the serious faults in this release everyone brought up, songs just ending.. the vocals..etc, but to be honest it’s not the worst I’ve ever heard. I own a couple of their early albums and Chris didn’t sound like this and I think if this is all he’s capable of now he should rethink another musical path. I am getting used to what I am hearing though and to be honest it’s ok. Not being a diehard fan of SFU I honestly can say it’s nothing I would buy or listen to again..as I listen to Chris croaking Drink Blood Get High as I write this lol.. but I think it would be doing the actual musicians on the album a huge insult by saying this album is... fill in your own insults.. to me they are fine and those solos are great. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever heard, I can listen to it, there’s some bands and styles I can’t even sit through one song, so it has something going for it. Musically it’s fine, lyrics on the dumb side but who cares, solos killer, vocals blend after a while.. Overall I have heard worse. I agree with Rin , it’s not great sure, but it’s entertaining.. 2 stars.

Necrotic Nick- We all went in objective but then we listened to the album multiple times and even the biggest fan of them in Thralls couldn't defend much of this.

They did NOT put any effort into this album. At all!

If I were to ever meet Chris Barnes I’d tell him nightmares of the decomposed is my favorite album of all time, just to see how he reacts

Ok, gotta be honest here; I've just re-listened the album... there are actually some cool ideas and riffs I actually like ( the opening song 'Amputator' overall is pretty solid or/and 'The Rotting', which has some really cool passages ( that get immideatly spoiled by "EEEH" )) , but it all gets ruined by a dry and "low phat/no-balls" production/mix, utterly inane lyrics, Barns's vocals that ignore any sort of rythm or dynamics and those gods-awful, unimaginative mid-tempo snooze tracks. Overall, I'd say the album is still a horrible and low effort cacophony, but there are actually some good riffs/ideas sprinkled througout it which however can't save it from being what is is: shit. PS: This dumpsterfire of an "album" reminds me of that one Morbid Angel fiasco... you know the one I'm talking about... >:-(

In a world as divided as ours, I'm glad that albums this appallingly awful can bring people together. It's like MST3K for death metal.

When i heard everyone talking trash about this album and how bad it was, I couldn't believe it. That was until I heard it. OMG this thing is horrible. Their next album has to get better right?? 😮
