When I was in culinary school, one of my professors always said "we make good food, not healthy food". I live by that. You can make food that is good and good for you. It doesn't need to have a "healthy" vibe to it. He wanted to teach us that food needs to still taste good. The healthy part follows, but you want the food to taste good
@TheAnnoyingBoss
@TheAnnoyingBoss Жыл бұрын
It's a fine balance. They can make Soylent green from people and it can be really healthy but taste nasty and no one will eat it. On the flip side if their is nothing healthy and it only tastes good but everyone dies of obesity, no one will be around to eat it. So you must balance the two and let them intermingle and become 1
@beetsbeetsbeets
@beetsbeetsbeets Жыл бұрын
I agree. If you make good food, you need to eat less of it. You don't eat a healthy meal followed by a "treat", you're just content for the afternoon or evening. I'd rather eat a full, proper meal than eat something "healthy" and feel the need to head back to the pantry within the hour.

Im a firm believer in eating anything but in consumption. Also believe that having a good fitness regimen is also important to enjoy the more delicious high caloric meals and the choices of beer, lager and ciders we can have. But you have to earn it. I train 5 days a week so I can have a beer and high caloric meal for the Weekend evenings.

My son has just called me from Liverpool, on a day out up there. And he went to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. And got the VIP treatment. He had a 3 course meal, 2 mocktails. And just bc he told them that he was a huge fan of Gordon, they actually let him see the kitchen, he shook the hands of the head chef, the chuo chef, and the manager. And gave him one of Gordon's Cook book's as an early birthday present, as he is 18 next week. Pity Gordon himself wasn't there. My son said it was the best food he has ever tasted in a restaurant. Pity I can't contact Gordon himself, I'd love my son to get a phone call from the Man himself on his birthday. That would really be the icing on the cake. Wow.

For one of the above recipe: Maybe useful tips? Mushrooms, garlic and leek or a few cabbage leaves (shredded)or green beans (halved) from a discount store or at the end of the day in the reduced items section. Lasagne sheets from a discount store or foodbank, you can also find small bottles of cooking olive oil like the one he uses for little money or use vegetable oil…single cream might be cheaper, a little pot, and will work as well as heavy cream in this dish. I hope you can make yourself a feast soon or share with a mate ☺️💫

One thing I learned from the elders is to soak the rice noodles in cold water for stir fried dish. It will take longer time but the result is amazing. Especially the thin rice noodle (bihun). OR for big size rice noodles better use warm water instead of hot boiled water. We don’t want the noodles to overcook before frying.

Good and exciting dish to start off with for getting to grips with cooking but do note for a stir fry only adding soy sauce will make for a fairly bland dish. Could add just a bit of honey and oyster sauce for a little extra something or google some quick and easy sauces that will make it a lot better with just a few exra ingredients and tiny extra effort with mixing. Perhaps it could make the whole cooking experience a bit more rewarding and exciting.
