I agree. My sister and friends all saw so many concerts that I have honestly lost track of. We saw The Police and David Bowie and Talking Heads. Missing Persons, Genesis, Howard Jones, Pat Benetar, Michael McDonald, Berlin. It was an amazing time and sent me on a lifetime path to see my favorite artists.

Considering the great bands/performers not in, and some of the trash that is in the Rock 'n' Roll "hall of shame", they should consider themselves lucky not to be tainted by Jan's slime. The guy is a scumbag who just leeches off performers for his own aggrandizement. He even charges inductees $10,000 per guest or some such nonsense as that. Gotta pay for your own wife and kids to see you honored....what kind of honor is that?

I'm usually one of those saying to myself "I can't believe he doesn't know this song." And then crack up when he realizes he's heard it before. Well, he got me with this one because I didn't know the name of this song. As soon as they got to the hook I thought "Oh, I do know this song" I was a child when most of these songs came out and it's so great to hear them again. Jamel's enthusiasm for music in all it's forms is so great.

Three Dog Night had the stuff!!! I loved them growing up. Their music was always positive, that's what I always loved about them. I don't know if 3DN knew it but they were preaching. We need them right now in this season of COVID, racism, Republicans against Democrats, etc. We have forgotten to show love for each other. Danny Hutton gets treated like the Third Tenor who nobody knows, but he was great too. Negron was incredible with his range. I've read numerous times that Cory Wells was the driving force in the band.

In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Shambhala is a mythical kingdom. Shambhala is mentioned in the Kalachakra Tantra. The Bon scriptures speak of a closely related land called Tagzig Olmo Lung Ring.

The song's actual lyrics are about the mythical kingdom of Shambhala, which was said to be hidden somewhere within or beyond the peaks of the Himalayas and was mentioned in various ancient texts, including the Kalachakra Tantra and ancient texts of Tibetan Buddhism

@@kn6ft The word Shamballa represents the mythical kingdom that Tibetan Buddhists believe symbolizes enlightenment, peace and perfection. Shamballa bracelets are based on the traditional Catholic rosary beads which are historically used for meditation.... though some claim it was a real place

I agree... some live performances are definitely worse than the studio versions - but this is NOT one of those. I've got plenty of TDN on vinyl, but I'd never seen this performance. It's great.

We were living in Albuquerque at Kirkland Air Force base in the 70's. We took at trip to Santa Fe one day to the racetrack for a day of fun. Shambala came on the radio and I fell in love with the song. Every single time I hear this song, it takes me straight to NM on the road to Shambala (to the racetrack) and I am a young woman again. It is possibly my favorite song OF ALL TIME.

Danny Hutton clearly was enjoying himself and liked being a bit of a clown. Chuck Negron had the awesome mustache and gorgeous hair. Corey Wells was the most level-headed of the group. I saw them in concert in 1973 when I was 15 years old. My BFF and I were standing right up by the stage. It was fantastic! Marc Bolan and T-Rex opened for them.) Remember it like it was yesterday.

It's impossible for me to pick a favorite 3 Dog Night tune but this would be near the top along with Moma Told Me Not to Come. Had the privilege to see them in concert in my younger days. They put on a Hellav a show.

The awesome thing about Three Dog Night is that they aren't like a lot of bands where you hear a little and know immediately who it is. So many of their songs sound completely different from others. Still hope to hear "Out in the Country"

Three Dog Night were an exceptional group of musicians. They had such great variety because they were a world class cover band. They were always able to find great songs without having to write them.

I was about 16. Saw them in a small night club. They were this good. That’s when musical talent is what got you to the top. Perfect voices in harmony. No dancing, special effects, just talent.

"Small night club" ... "dancing" ... You just reminded me of something ... It was in a small night club called "Kicks" in downtown Reno, Nevada. Paul Revere (of The Raiders) and Bill Medley (of The Righteous Brothers) owned the place. I went to one of the Raiders shows there one night during the last year before it closed. As usual it was a lively event, and sometime well into the show I glanced over toward the dance floor, and I tell you I saw Danny Hutton boogie'n' down with Sydney Revere (wife of Paul). It just registered for a second and then I turned back to watching the show, never looking over again to make sure of what I thought I had seen. Well, it turned out that "Two Dog Night" (the Three Dogs minus Chuck Negron) WAS actually in town, to perform at the hotel that I think was Bally's at the time. So, although I didn't see "Three Dog Night" in a small night club, I believe I DID see *A* Dog there. And there WAS dancing involved.

This song came out in 1973. 3 Dog Night was my favorite group at the time. My favorite group at the time. My favorite song was was One. One is the the loneliest number you'll ever do. ❤❤❤

"Never been to Spain" by Three Dog Night is SUPER groovy, one of my favorites, Corey is also the singer ...however, the videos on KZfaq are pretty bad on this song, if you can find a "Live" one that would be excellent! They all were Lead Singers (Corey, Danny & Chuck) hence "Three" dog night (yes, I know about the story behind their name "people slept with three dogs on an especially cold night". Check out Danny (guy in the light blue shirt "Eli's Coming" song).

The first record I ever bought was 3DN Live at the Forum. They are great live. The instrumentalists were very capable & knew how to jam live when they were time constrained like this ‘studio’ live performance.

"Shambala" was covered by a country artist named B.W. Stevenson, who had a major hit with a similar sound called "My Maria". I'd love to see your reaction to that one, you might know the Brooks & Dunn cover from the 90s.

Love your reactions! I am in my 60's and I saw Three Dog Night three times here in Winnipeg Canada. They used to tour Canada a lot because the drummer was from Calgary , Canada. Never been to Spain would be a good one to do next. I look forward to your reactions everyday! Yep, you would need an afro and some bell bottoms and you would have fit right in! Shambala is a Tibetan Buddhist place of peace and love that exists on a different plane of existence. ✌🌻🌼

The in the light blue is named Danny Hutton. He was born in Ireland and moved here with his parents when he was young. Sadly the one singing in the black suit Cory Wells passed away.

This was one of my favorite songs on the radio at that time, I was 6 years old at the time. I was never far away from a radio at that time. A beautiful song and message. This one gave me intense goosebumps…
