boofdfast I was at the scene of a car accident where a 2008 Crown Vic PI T-boned a 2002 Sunfire at 101 mph (impact speed. the cop was going 129 mph and slammed the brakes. I found that out in court, black box). The car was so durable, there was almost no damage after the firewall - the driver door had a little dent in the front and that's it. The back half of the car was unscathed. At 101 mph. Almost any other car would be a twisted, unrecognizable wreck. The cop in the vic suffered a broken leg and whiplash, but nothing more. Plus he was fat (like 300 lbs), old (about 52), and out of shape, so that likely intensified his injuries. Did I mention he T-boned this car at 101 mph? True story! Not exaggerating.

Well, those Crown Vics do look durable, but the vid of one getting rear ended and turning into a toasted marshmallow worried me, because those Panther chassis 93- 2000+ Mercury Grand Marquis/Crown Victorias are good looking cars, and was interested in a few.

I always figured there must be a reason over 1,000,000 police cars in the US are Crown Vics. The car of choice for 70% of US Police Departments since 1997. (Likely because it can be abused and ragged and keep going)

@@boonecountyautomotive3986 maybe if tanner's CRX had been a 1987-1991 SiR JDM version with the B16A and the white Mugen RR rims from factory it would have been more painful to have seen it because the JDM version of the CRX has the real sports car's standard JDM B16A with 172hp from factory and weights less than a Miata NA not mention the JDM versions worth 12K dlls same with the JDM EG6 SiR-II it's considerate a collector's piece and very appreciated between the japanese tuners no wonder why many Kanjozoku racers still using it

Being in a collision doesn't teach you the math behind 2 colliding objects... If 2 things hit eachother at the same speed with equivalent force, they meet in the middle and stop moving... If it were like your describing, you would get in a 25 mph wreck and your car would fly backwards at 25mph to make that 50mph! look up the physics behind colliding objects

BudgetGore You know newton's laws of physics? Know about "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" Well, a good way we demonstrate this is through looking at collisions. A mass hitting an immovable wall at a velocity of 20m/s is equivalent to 2 equal masses hitting each-other at 20m/s head on. The reason is, while its true that you double the relative velocity with respect to either mass, you find that you've also doubled the mass in the system in which to dissipate that energy. Another fact you have to look at is that you smash a car against an approximately immovable wall it will resist with equivalent force, no more and no less. Smash a car into a wall at 10mph, the wall will push back with exactly the same force. You also have to look at the fact that a car heading in one direction weighing 900kg going 10mph has the same amount of energy as a car weighing 900kg going 10mph in the opposite direction. So each car can only push back with the force it has, (as a result of F=ma where a would be deceleration at impact, m as mass and F as force.) Assuming the cars are identical and crumple in the same way, we can say each car would decelerate when hitting a wall in 0.2 seconds from a 30m/s impact. A car heading in one direction gives us a force at impact of 900*0.2 = 180N. In the other direction its the same force but in the oppositte direction its negative 180N. 180+-180=0, both cars will stop dead. What you're saying is that in a system like this the forces add and not cancel out. If that where true, both cars in a 40m/s head on impact would bounce away from each other at 40m/s. Another way to think about this is with a velocity budget. You have 2 cars going 80mph. That's a grant total closing velocity of 160mph. Great, but you have two cars to slow down. well, to bring one car to a stop you must lose 80mph from your budget, but that cuts your budget down to 80. you have to stop the other car which is also going at 80, so that must receive the other 80mph worth of deceleration. you stopped both cars, and they only decelerated from 80mph to zero. It wasn't a 160mph impact for either. The only way for one car to "feel" a 160mph impact is if you deliver all of your budget to one car. If you have one car going 80, and the head on crash delivers a 160mph impact then the original velocity of 80mph-160mph = -80mph. The car will be moving backwards at 80 after impact.

All 3 cars have their virtues, the CRX for performance and fun to drive, when Hondas had double wishbone suspensions and small size. The VW Caddy for rarity, utility and diesel durability. The Dodge Aries for 6 passenger roominess, great gas mileage and reliability. Sad to see them wasted like that, before their time.

@@ryoamora8655 at least that CRX wasn't a JDM version SiR (sport injection racing) those ones are very rare with the exclusive black paint and red trims and the white Mugen RR and a Mugen rims steering wheel cluster and bodykit those JDM CRX worth over 10.000 dll's it's a collectors piece not mention that JDM version came with the B16A making 170 hp from factory . there was even a Spoon version in yellow phoenix with the red recaro seats and 181hp
