Hey everyone, sorry for not posting or replying in a while. My wife had total knee replacement surgery on March 22nd, and on March 25th a bloodclot went to her brain and she suffered a major stroke. She went into a rehab facility for some time, then came home. On June 18th, she fell and bumped her head and suffered a brain bleed due to the blood thinner Plavix and low-dose aspirin she had been prescribed, and had to have emergency brain surgery. She just came home a few days ago and is doing well, but I am on FMLA from work thru August to take care of her.

Thanks for the information Dewayne. Is the 3 week the most recent video on your trapezium surgery? Seems strange that they can remove a bone that links the thumb to the rest of the hand and everything works pretty much as before. What is your opinion and recovery status now? Again I want to express my gratitude for your post.

Hey J. Thanks for the comment. I apologize for it taking so long to reply, but my wife had a total knee replacement a week and a half ago, followed by a major stroke three days later. As far as the bone, they didn't leave a cavity where the bone was removed, they removed a tendon from my forearm/wrist side, rolled it up, and packed in in where the bone used to be, then attached it and sewed me up. Rehap was easy. It was sore for a few weeks, but as of today, I have very little pain, if any from that joint, and the only reminder is the scare which has almost faded.

@@DewayneGore Was curious how your hand strength is (maybe as percentage of your original post arthritis grip?), I hear a lot of videos say they are "good" or maybe 70% of original but in all a lot of people haven't had much feedback on this. Would be great to hear about that from you, thanks for the info!

@@hlore73 Hey everyone, my hand/thumb is doing well. It is about as strong as it was before the surgery, maybe better, because at least I can open a bottle drink now, where before the surgery it was too painful. Once in a while I get a little throbbing for a minute or two where the bone was removed, but overall that is decreasing as time goes by. I rarely notice it anymore, and the scar is fairly unnoticeable.

@@DewayneGore That's fantastic, glad to hear it continues to be a success! Have you had any changes, good or bad, say doing like a pushup or where you have to support your body weight with your hands flat on the ground? Really appreciate your time and feedback - sorry for all the Q & A's but this condition/surgery is somewhat rare for males (so says my Dr) so I definitely appreciate your insight from that perspective.

@@hlore73 LOL @ your doctor. I don't see any reason why it would be "rare for males". Males suffer arthritis the same as females. I work with my hands a LOT, play guitar, etc., and it has been a blessing for me since having the surgery. I have yet to find a single thing I can't do due to having the surgery. I can tell my hand doesn't hurt all the time, so for me it's worth it.
