THRIFT FLIP CHALLENGE COLLAB
This AAPI Heritage Month I wanted to do something special to uplift Asian voices so I'm doing a series of Thrift Flip Challenges with some of my fellow Asian Sewists. This is the third and final video of this series and this week I'm collaborating with Candice, or you may know her as SewBakeMake ‪@sewbakemake‬ ♥️ Candice is Chinese Canadian and is a self taught sewist you makes the most gorgeous pieces and she also makes sewing patterns that are available on her etsy shop!
Thrift Flip Challenge Rules: $10 budget to thrift one or multiple items that we have to flip into a new outfit. In this video, Candice sent me a green wrap dress and some thrifted satin to upcycle. The satin reminded me of 80s prom dresses so I made that my inspiration and created this 80s inspired drop waist dress with a few modern elements so that it didn't feel too dated! not only is the design so unique and tasteful, the fit and construction are also gorgeous, and the colors pair so well. it's unexpectedly cohesive. I think it's because they're in the same muted/fall color family. so well done! you're so talented.

As a new sewer I need to actually see what is being sewn and how it’s being someone just telling people this is how you do it this so here so here don’t tell her don’t so there doesn’t help me move it on to someone who shows what they’re doing not everyone understands what you’re doing and how you do it and why you’re skipping all the parts that people need to know
