Vinyl Community, I'm taking you with me as we thrift for vinyl records. Record collecting on a budget in 2022. You can never have too many records! I'm taking YOU into the stores shopping for records WITH ME. Thrift Stores, Antique Stores, Flea Markets, etc. You'll be there Riding Shotgun as we scour the countryside looking for places to buy vintage vinyl records! You'll be there as I find cool records, or even if I don't. I'll show you how to find places to find vintage vinyl records. I'll show you what to look for. How to thrift for records like a pro. How to find cool used vinyl records for a fraction of the price. Much cheaper than Discogs. Secondhand stores can be a great place to find records for much cheaper than online. And, If you don't find records at the thrift store, Don't Give Up! Often you have to visit multiple stores multiple times!
I'm Playing Catch-Up Here! My loss is your gain! I'll be posting more frequently for a while, trying to get caught up! Right now, the videos I'm posting were filmed a few months ago... I want to get caught up to where the videos I'm posting were filmed in the last couple weeks!

One important note! DON’T DISMISS CDs during this current important timeframe where everyone is dumping them for peanuts! Remember that they’re at the point right now where records were during the 90s, and you’d be wise to grab whatever nice condition Rock there is. Just like Vinyl!

if I see another polka album, I'm gonna polka my eyes out. That desk was cool. They got popular with the pand. for homeschool and the Mid century crowd. I don't think my Goodwill sells cassettes.

That last stop certainly had a lot of hard core easy listening and budget label stuff…right up my seldom traveled alley, lol. Most frustrating when you find a record you’re really interested in, but the jacket’s empty..or the record itself is toast

@@VinylHunter Yeah, I do the same thing, although I've been lucky when presenting an empty record cover to a thrift store cashier (Value Village) and the cashier just gave me the vintage lounge cheesecake record cover for free with my other paid purchases. Records at Village Village in Canada were typically $2 and I offered $1 since it was an empty cover, but I got it for free, so it pays to haggle sometimes. :)

That's what usually happens to me too. Spoiler Alert: I recently found a first pressing of Kiss first album (no Kissing Time!) but it was just the record, no cover. He gave it to me for free! I bet i could still sell it for $50-ish with no cover!

I take all the same paths you do man. 😎 Probably met you on the road a few times haha. I don't think Genoa has ever had a thrift shop. I remember this one antique store in Osceola, Husker Antiques I think it was called? Had several records, you may have good luck there next time.

I've been in there, but it's been a minute. Two thrift stores in Osceola too. I never found anything at either of those. I can't remember if i found anything at the antique store.

7:53 Stéphane Grappelli is a very good French Violinist Jazz Fusion player, but I don't know that album (Satin Doll) though

Isn't Jean Luc Ponty French too? Fusion on violin must be popular in France! I dig Jean Luc Ponty, so I'll have to check out Grappelli!

@@VinylHunter Yes, Jean Luc Ponty ia also a French Violinist. I have 3 Grappelli records, one with David Grisman, one with Hank Jones, and one with Philip Catherine and Larry Coryell. I also have a CD where he dives into Brazilian music with Baden Powell.

Cool old house at the beginning. Glad you came to your senses and put those 3 records back. It's getting pretty bad when you are considering a Jan Pierce album. I wish you would have gone through the 78's in the last store. I find some good ones more often than albums anymore. Seems everyone is scouting out albums.

🤣😂🤣 I had no idea who Jan Pierce was, so i had to look it up. The thing is, lots of times it the albums that you DON'T recognize that are worth money...so, if i don't know what they are, i investigate further.

10:16 These are all german radio plays for kids. Funny that you found them there. Especially "Benjamin Blümchen" is very popular. Although grownups as me listen to them too. "Scotland Yard" is cool.

Yeah i come across so many things make me wonder "how did this get here?" I collect Roger Miller records. There was a Hungarian pressing of one of his records that i was "watching" on discogs...then, not too long after, i found that Hungarian record in an antique store in a very small town in Nebraska!!!! One of my craziest coincidences ever!!! How did it get there????

You are on a roll. Lots of new videos. We got our dog from St Paul, NE so I have been there. I have friends who have a lake house right near Silver Creek. Dannebrog is somewhat famous because Roger Welsch who was always on CBS News Sunday Morning would do lots of stories there. Even though you don't always find records I get to see small towns I have and have not been to before.

I got Y&T's first album when they were known as Yesterday and Today at an antique mall in Long Beach Washington! $7.00! Also Montrose first LP for $4

I like going to antique malls and looking in every little cubby for records. That's how I found the Yesterday and Today album. I also found Vandenberg's first album that way.

Hey tuco, do you ever come across any Jerry Clower records. He was that comedian from Yazoo, Mississippi. I remember my parents having some of those records when I was a kid and I haven't seen one of those albums in probably 40 plus years. I used to laugh my ass off at some of his records, all clean and no Red Foxx type material, back when I was a kid. If I ever come across one of those I'm going to get it just for the nostalgia sake 👍 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

Heavy Metal Supply Co. - Did they really want to beat you up because you went into their store? It's good you didn't inquire about death & black metal records and a pack of Zig Zag rolling papers! Well, all in all, kinda brutal this time around in tornado country, nothing to get the heart pumping (or even beating!). Now where are those rolling papers?!

Yeah! It's a lot of digging...a lot looking for new places that might have records! Many times you don't find anything...Sometimes you'll find a treasure or two...and, sometimes you hit big!!!

22:54 That's neither Mozart nor Beethoven, particularly since neither of them had any facial hair or beards. I think that is a Jesus bust judging by the beard, the long hair, the robe/tunic outfit, and the solemn expression on his face. Had the clothes been a bit different like during Queen Elizabeth I's reign, I would have guessed William Shakespeare. :)

@@VinylHunter That would be AWESOME! What a brilliant idea, Tuco! Maybe Screen Archives or La-La Land Records or Kritzerland; of all which sell soundtracks, would go for that idea. Screen Archives used to give away baseball-style cards of film composers with orders and I collected several at the time (Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Herrmann, Elmer Bernstein, James Horner, etc.). So, limited edition busts would be so cool. :)

Pretty empty there. No people, no cars on the streets. I wonder how there could be any business? The smoke was black, maybe they burned vinyl? Someone hinted that Vinyl thrifter is coming to get their vinyl?
