I'm taking YOU into the stores shopping for vinyl records WITH ME. You'll be there AS I FIND COOL RECORDS. I'll show you how I do it. How to find places to find vintage vinyl records. I'll show you what to look for. How to thrift for records like a pro. How to find cool used vinyl records for a fraction of the price. Much cheaper than Discogs. You'll be there as i find a bunch of great vinyl records at an Antique Mall. Secondhand stores can be a great place to find records for much cheaper than online.

There is a lot of these channels but this one is the best. The fact that you show everything is so helpful. It’s not just what you buy, it’s what you leave behind that helps me learn.

Thank you!!! My aim is to show that you CAN find good records at thrift stores and to teach my tips and tricks so you can do it too! I don't always find good stuff...but i find stuff often enough to keep me going! I have amassed a collection of nearly 4000 records...at a small fraction of what most people pay for records! Thank you so much for the kind words!

I really appreciate that you show the realistic way thrift store record digging is, and that really does make the scores much more fun. Thanks again, Jerry

I assumed it was disco...but I'm starting to appreciate more disco because a lot of it is great funk stuff! I'd thought about getting it just to give to a local record store owner who is always purposely melting records in the sun on hot days to show how hot it is. EVERY hot day you can count on him posting a picture on Facebook of a record he's melting in the sun.

Wooohooo major DP score at Goodwill! Too bad they were so scratched up, that's heartbreaking! Love Nancy Sinatra too, but I've got that one already. Since I can't get out to any stores/flea markets/yard sales today, I'll watch yours, it's just like being there myself.

I wish you could have flipped through those 78's at the first goodwill. Many 78's are worth more than some 33's but most not worth anything. I have found some really good ones. Most people don't look through them. Can hardly wait for the super score video.
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
I actually did dig through them, but you couldn't see anything good enough on the footage, so it ended up on the cutting room floor. (45s too). I definitely don't know much about 78s, but i always dig through them because I'm hoping someday to find Screamin Jay Hawkins (one of my holiest of holy grails!). So much to know about 78s! And usually they're not on discogs either, so i can't just look them up. Someone mentioned before that most 78 collectors don't use discogs?

I would have grabbed the Hoosier Hot Shots record you flipped through, as I'm a sucker for novelty acts. Their origins date back to the mid-'30s, and they performed into the '70s. They were actually an early influencer of Spike Jones.
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
I was unfamiliar with them...but I'm thinning out most of my novelty and comedy records from my collection because i never listen to them, so they're just taking up valuable shelf space. I still collect a few though. I can't pass up a Redd Foxx record for example.

I'm going to throw this out at you. When you are crate digging and come across the old Capitol pressing's like that Christmas From Sweden album, if they are Turquoise Labels, that means these are 1st pressings from Scranton. Which in turn sells for a premium. Some of those ole time Christmas vinyl is worth a nice amount of change. Know what i mean.

That Hiding Place Soundtrack with big Nazi symbol on it that you considered for half a second is the story of Corrie Ten Boom who I believe helped hide Jewish people from the evil Nazi bastards Kind of like an Underground Railroad for the Jews. She was a devout Christian and her story was a huge deal back in the day when I was a kid! I remember seeing a screening of the movie in my church as a youngin’! LoL!

Not a bad price either at $3. It probably wouldn't get much time on the turntable though...I'm trying to purge a bunch of that stuff from my collection to free up some valuable shelf space.

5:07 That's a bummer about that Deep Purple album being so badly gouged and it's uncanny, but every time I see a Herman's Hermits record just like that one, it's always scratched to oblivion; never just a little scratch here and there; always DESTROYED. So, the quest goes on to find a Herman's Hermits record in decent, playable shape.

Get that music going! Show us the good stuff AND the crap! You probably won't like Livingston Taylor - he's just as boring as his brother James and sister Kate! A sure cure for insomnia! A decent copy of that Deep Purple album would have been a great find - we're here to ROCK, not snooze...I can't give away country records in my area. Your quote on that Blackwood dude was right on spot - LOL! ... I did go thrifting a couple daze ago and found a few nice LPs at Goodwill: two by Peter Walker, (Dr. Timothy Leary's musical and spiritual advisor!), and Silver City, a local 70's/80's Harrisburg, Pennsy rock band. Was very happy with those! See ya next trip!

The best part of videoing when you thrift for vinyl is you can just laugh at the ridiculous funny records without actually buying them. I knew the Deep Purple was going to be hopelessly scratched, because it would have been gone otherwise.

Hi Tuco. I noticed a George Shering Quintet record at 20:29, would you consider them a exotica bachelor pad type artist? The artwork on that Cowboy compilation looked great. Thanks.

Yeah! I don't mind "dirty" at all... that'll clean up! I've been contemplating getting an ultrasonic cleaner for a while. If you heard me mention "the dig of a lifetime" in my last video, i got hundreds of mind blowing records in this dig...all super minty...but they're a bit dirty...and the dirt is decades old... And after cleaning with Tergikleen AND Spin Clean, they still have a bit of noise...i think an ultrasonic cleaner would do the trick.
