Now we’re talking, as an 80’s child he-man is my jam.

This is genuinely one of my all time Christmas cartoons. It's weird, silly and overall just so much fun. This dumb 45 min cartoon brings me so much joy. Also, Skelator gets the best lines in this movie throughout the whole series.

My wife came home from the store last Christmas and said: "Look what I found in the $5 bin!"......It was this Christmas special. We are starting the tradition of watching it again this year along with the music video "What's Goin' On".

I always thought it was funny how they described giant transforming robots as "totally evil" (or something similar). Taking a corporate shot at TRANSFORMERS perhaps?

I remember my "He-Man Christmas" and I think it was 85. Snake Mountain, the Fright Zone, Land Shark and most of the Wave 4 figures. I think grandma did good at the casinos that year.

Remember this one well! It was a fun holiday special. My fave scenes were: Skeletor: “I don’t know where I am and What I’m doing here... but I know I must save the children!” 😀- it made Skeletor more like Marvel’s Dr. Doom, as Doc draws the line at hurting kids (ditto Magneto & Venom). Even though I wasn't alive when the filmation stuff came out, my uncles were, and were big fans of it too boot, and I honestly have to thank them for introducing me to Masters of the Universe.

As great as Christmas Skeletor is, I much prefer the Bravestarr Christmas episode "Tex's Terrible Night." A very unique interpretation of A Christmas Carol that tells Tex Hex's backstory, even giving the character some much needed depth and sympathy. And that ending. I'm not crying. That's just Kerium dust in my eye.

Please do a history of the Beavis & Butt-Head Do Christmas special next year. PLEASE, I beg of you!

Didn't grow up as much of a He-Man fan, which just makes this Christmas Special that much better for me XD . Discovered it online a handful of years back. I legitimately love it. It's so cheesy and fun, and bizarre to me, but in the best way lmao. Plus, the inclusion of She-Ra means I can enjoy showing it to those of my friends that are super into the new She-Ra Netflix show! lol Hope you continue to cover more great/bizarre Christmas specials!

The basic plot gimmick was kinda like the live action movie. Incompetent short wizard-type uses a deus ex machina to teleport to Earth for the adventure to cause fish-out-water hijinks.

For some reason Diamond Ray of Disappearance was my favorite episode. I've been re-watching He-Man and the Masters of the Universe over the past few weeks, and worked in both The Secret of the Sword and The Christmas Special in that time. I definitely saw The Secret of the Sword several times (including, I think, in the cinema!) back when it came out, and The Christmas Special at least once back then, and I could see very clearly that they were trying to spoof/compete with Transformers/Go-Bots in doing so even back then as a nine-year-old...ultimately unsuccessfully, unfortunately, but there you go! As for St. Patrick's Day: they do have at least two Irish/Irish-influenced instances in He-Man, in the first episode with Granamyr and the leprechaun-like forest being who says "Hoopshilagh! Hoopshilagh" (not a real Irish word!) in happiness when He-Man refuses to cut down Sky Tree for Granamyr; and then the episode where there is the lighthouse and Moss-Man and so forth, and the lighthouse keeper and his son who both have Irish accents and the keeper's name is Angus Og (which is the name of an Irish god!). So, in certain ways, it wasn't far off to begin with!

Se-he-Ra barely held my interest as a kid, but it was cool seeing He-Man show up once in a while after his show ended.

Wait, I recall this special was aired on a Thursday night, same time as The hit Cosby Show. It definitely wasn't on Christmas Day, but sometime in Dec. Unless I caught the re-run at year later. But being a He-Man fan since 1984 I think I would have known if it debuted the year prior. It was on my Mom's bowling night and I was at the bowling alley watching it (I was in the playroom, and got the attendant to let us kids watch it.) as it was being recorded on the VCR at home.
