Just purchased this bag today. Definitely super happy with it! I work as a field engineer where I have to climb tanks on a daily basis & it definitely comes in handy to carry my tools, equipment & laptop all in this one bag without breaking my back!

This is such a clever design! ... My specific need too... For ages I've been trying to find a bag that could carry laptop for work and basketball and gym clothes for afterwards, this looks like it could do that just fine..

Be careful with the hard lid on top when they measure the carry on luggage on some cheap airlines - it needs to fit 55x40x20 cm , so the hard lid may be wider than 20cm!

Great bag reviews! One of the best bag reviewers on youtube. Can you do a review of the kathmandu litehaul carryon? I see it behind you 🙂
@OneBagTravels

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment 😀 I bought a whole pile of duffel bags. I've been testing them out, Litehaul will be coming out soon! It's actually very similar to the Landmark, laptop compartment, stowable backpack straps, water bottle pocket, but about 1/2 lb lighter.

@@OneBagTravels when hoonigan mention the Kathmandu I immediately had to look at the background... I mentioned the Kathmandu some time ago to you but unfortunately they changed the first version a little bit since the bag premiered and I didn't like those changes so I never purchased and now they're on yet another version. I want the original V1!. Looking forward to the review!

I really like the look overall. But it will be great if they make a 32l or 35l version of this bag. And making the dimension of the bulky clam shell top 10% - 20% percent smaller.

I agree, a little smaller would be perfect. 28-35L is the "sweet spot" for me.

For the first impression, it is quite comfortable and technologically advanced product with a lot of innovative ideas. However, after the acquisition came a quick disappointment. The backpack itself has a lot of weight, and the interior space is much smaller than it appears visually. If there were a real internal volume of at least 60 ... 65 liters, and the own scales would also be reduced, this would be a completely different convenience. And so - I had to return the next day after receiving.

That's one of the tradeoffs with packs like this, all those features add weight and take up space. On this pack especially the laptop compartment and the top padded tech pouch.

Can you please let me know how you found the 60L bag to be? I was looking at the same bag. Can the 20L backpack be stuffed into the 40L backpack?

It is very common in an airport or train station in Europe to see more than half of the bags are Thule... They do a lot of things right! I have Patagonia and North Face this type and size (not as comfortable carry but I'm sentimental as they've gone around the world with me). This may not be the bag for me but I always look out for their reviews because my Thule cabin bag, which I think is less than 20 L, is one of my favorite bags! And thank you for pronouncing it "TOO-LEE" not THule.. pet peeve of mine, up there with a-dee-daz 🤷‍♀️😆🌎

Thanks for this review! The laptop & bottle pocket on this bag make it super intriguing. Curious if you've run one of those styrofoam peanut tests on the volume? My main concern is how far below 40L the main compartment is.

I haven't done one on this bag yet, but just from looking I suspect it's 40L, it's a good sized pack

Nice review!! I am still on the hunt for a travel bag and stumped by size - a good one for the bag and me. Should I be looking for a bag that is a match for my torso length or not? Do you? Make sure they have load lifters? Bags that are sized and adjustable for frame size (like the Osprey Fairview - though not my aesthetic)? Most travel packs (28 to 35L+ are too long for someone 5’6 with a torso of 17.” Yet, I see a lot of people wearing them. Though I think it’s too big for me, I hope you’ll review the Evergoods CTB35. It sounds like a good fit for you and it’s getting very positive reviews. They made some very good improvements. One I’ll praise is the lower back panel which now has lumbar support. It’s super comfortable.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 жыл бұрын
I don't usually look at torso length because most companies don't even list the fit, and many travel packs tend to be "unisex" and generally fit better on people with a medium to longer torso length. 17" is a little below average but still in the range covered by many packs, so I would think there would still be many options available. For example, both the Farpoint (Men's version) and Fairview (Women's version) have sizes that fit a 17" torso. I think the issue with travel bags is they tend to default to a larger torso length, few brands offer them in multiple sizes, and they don't often list torso length on the website. This means you probably have to read a lot of reviews and try on many bags to find one that fits you well. Load lifters aren't always necessary. It really depends on the size of the pack and how the design distributes the weight. I find them to be helpful when a bag has them, but it doesn't mean a pack will be uncomfortable just because it doesn't have load lifters. You also need to consider how you are using the bag. If you're just using it to carry your stuff to a hotel and switching to a daypack, then having the perfect fit may not be as important. However if you will be carrying it around a lot then you want something that will be comfortable to all-day carry. Good call on the CTB35, looks like a great pack!

@@OneBagTravels I pretty much always see dimensions. In most cases, the bags to my liking are often 20." A wee bit too long for me. 18" is my cut-off. Even some that say they are 18" don't fit (and rarely are) - could be due to rigid bottom, frame sheet contour, or bag just not meshing with me. So hard to tell before you put the darn thing on.

Choosing between Thule Landmark 40L and Osprey Farpoint 40L what do you recommend?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
Tough choice! I haven't done a comparison packing test, but I suspect the Landmark holds just a little more. It's more of a duffel bag than the Farpoint, which is sort of a clamshell pack. I would lean more towards the Landmark because I like that packing style more, but both are great comfortable packs with good value for the money.

I’m looking at the peak design travel backpack or the Thule landmark now. Not sure if you could give a quick recommendation? I’d appreciate it! It’s gonna be my first bag

The Farpoint 40 is a good pack. It has some flaws, like the placement of the laptop compartment, small mesh pockets, and a slightly awkward packign style. But if that's what you decided on I don't think you need to worry about finding the perfect bag, you can't go wrong with the Farpoint. I don't know what the "best" travel bag is, but in that range some other packs to look at: Cotopaxi Allpa (35 or 42), Evergoods CTB 35, Minaal Carry-on 3.0, Peak Design Travel Backpack, ULA Atlas.
