One of the anti-sway spacers should be for between the bike and the bike rack, keeping the first bike steady.

Excelente vídeo, tengo una curiosidad, en la página de Thule, ningún Civic es compatible con este rack, pero lograste ajustarlo a la perfección, tengo una Wolkswaguen Nivus 2023 y la página tampoco habilita compatibilidad, pero si lo lograste en tu civic seguramente podré en la Nivus, si tienes algún comentario te lo agradeceré, saludos

Thanks for this review!, I do have a question if I may, I noticed there is a bit of sway when the bike is strapped and I’m concerned that would turn out to be an issue, thoughts?

This rack is an older design from Thule so it doesn't feature any anti sway components like on the gateway Pro or the Yakima fullback. If you are concerned of the sway it would be best to go with a rack which offers this features.

When I hang my mountain bike from the top tube, it's super cockeyed on the rack. Would you recommend raising one of the rack arms higher than the other to try to level the bike out? Or maybe hang it on the down tube on the front side? I'm not sure what's the best method to make sure it's secure on the rack.

Keeping the arms level I believe is how the rack was designed but I saw no notes confirming or disputing that. Generally if you can I recommend trying to attach to the underside of the Bike frame's Triangle to elevate the front tire when possible. I am interested in buying one of these but was wondering, how does this secure the pedals from touching the back of the car when going over potholes or speed bumps? I have a Ford Focus and, according to the specifications of the product , it is compatable with my car

We generally try to avoid trunk racks as much as possible as they are quite cumbersome to use and they disable your trunk while in use due to their design. This particular trunk rack does not offer any anti sway devises to prevent your bike from swing when your vehicle accelerates. The Thule GateWay or the Yakima Fullback are better options. Can this bike rack fit to my toyota mark3 supra . Any bike rack recommendation for that kind of small sport car?

I ran your vehicle, and unfortunately there is no Thule rack that we can confirm fits. I checked Yakima and Saris as well, and either it is confirmed their trunk racks don't work, or they have no records of testing the fitment to confirm. This means we don't carry a brand of trunk rack compatible with your vehicle. If you are interested in hitch style bike racks as an alternative, I would recommend going to rackattack.com, and hit 'Find Store' in the top right to find your local Rack Attack to assist with any hitch or rack questions you may have!

Hi, I don't see anything stopping the bicycle swiveling towards the car causing damage with the pedals as it hits the trunk

Thanks for the review ! Do you think there is a risk of the bike moving around and hitting the back of the car while riding if you only have one bike on the rack ?

Most racks come with a safety strap to help secure the bike and limit that kind of "That's gonna leave a mark" sway.

If you watch the Thule video one of the separation pieces is used to keep the bike and rack separate to reduce the chance of bike to car contact.

@@grahamriley8124 This parent question is the same one that I had. I have watched both of the videos on Thule site as well as had a live chat with a customer service member. The CSR directed me to this video to see the anti-sway. My big question is when ONLY ONE bike is attached is there a risk of the bike swaying and hitting the bumper of the car? In the video it doesn't look like you ratcheted the straps down too tight so it appears as though there is a possibility that if fully tightened then the bike would remain in place and not hit the car. I don't care to buy this and end up having to return it.

I still have big doubts about one thing what was asked here but somehow not made clear to my full satisfaction: how do I keep the bicycle(s) from bouncing and banging against the bumper/back of the car? This just doesn´t look safe while driving...

The Thule Outway comes with a Safety Strap that can be used to help secure the bikes in a safe spot. Its basically a strap you wrap around all the tires and lightly secure. If you check Thule's instructions for the OutWay its on page 16. Hope that addresses your concerns, and fantastic question!!!

When I look up any version of the Civic on Thule's fitguide for the Outway I am seeing this note. 159. This product is not recommended for any vehicle equipped with a trunk lip spoiler. The presence of a trunk lip spoiler may vary by vehicle trim level, or may be equipped as an add on accessory Hitches are typically what we would recommend on vehicles with spoilers, less strain on the vehicle and no paint contact, win win heh.

At the moment the Outway isn't a listed fit for a Cruze but with it being a brand new item it can sometimes take a little bit to retrofit and test new items on vehicles from previous years. Appreciate the Q and you! #DontBeRackless

Hello. This rack is rated for bikes weighing up to 33 pounds, total weight limit 66 pounds. Consider hitch mounted racks for greater weight capacity. Thanks!

could you technically leave this rack on the car outside? it'll be for my wife's car which sits outside. Worried about rust issues with lock mechanism failing

You could leave it on, as I see cars with them on all the time. We recommend you take the rack off when not in use, it increases the lifetime of the rack dramatically. Once you are used to using it, should only take seconds/minutes to get years more time of out it.

In many countries such a rack is illegal because the bikes are hiding the license plate.
