thank you so much..I'm a 68 year old woman and have been having so much pain in both thumbs, especially my right one..I hate doctors because they always want to put you on meds (with side effects) and I don't want to take them...or surgery and I didn't see that help when my mother-in-law did that...but just a few minutes of these exercises has made a difference for me and I will continue to do them..so glad I found you..God Bless..Charlotte

Amazing! I've finally decided to look up thumb joint pain relief and I'm now able to play guitar for extended periods of time, without my thumb muscle cramping up and hurting like it's got a needle in it! Thank you, sir!

yes i injured my thumb nearly two years ago.i never seeked medical help,i just hoped that the injury would heal itself,two years later the thumb joint is week and feels tight,even the simple task of switching on a light switch would hurt like hell.i have tried the excerises you have, and without shadow of doubt to any one who is a doubting thomas,these excersises work,you are a credit to your profession ,im just upset that i didnt stumble upon this information much sooner,god bless you..

Thank you so much Gary, About a week ago I moved my thumb the wrong way and it popped. A wave of tingling went down my arm but it didn't hurt. Two days later my thumb hurt so bad I couldn't even pick up puzzle pieces while playing with my kids. I have been suffering with this pain for 3 days now and decided to do something about it. I found your video and went through all of the movements and massages. When I was doing the push and pull my thumb hurt a little but then I felt it crack and like magic it feels good as new, a little tight but usable. Thanks again, you my hero for the day.

Hello Gary: thank you soooooo much for the videos. I watch them all and I will follow with step 1a, b, and c. I started having pain on my right thumb about a week ago (comuter mouse and heavy lifftings)and now my thumb is making a craking sound when I move it. Thank you again.

Thank you for this! I jammed and sprained my thumb many years ago. Every once in a while gets tight, and I had been working on the joints & muscles in the area for the past few days and getting some relief. I just followed the instructions in this video and got even more relief. :)

thank you so much i have been in so much pain for around 9 months.( picked up my baby buggy and pop went my thumb-saddle joint) after following your instructions my tendons around my thumb and wrist are better to the point where i have no pain so it feels strange because i have forced myself to live with the pain as the doctor said he can't do much as i have tendonitis . and now i can happily hold my baby as well.

I hurt my thumb in boxing twice in a month , its been like 2 months since I've been taking rest wearing a splint , until I tried the exercises or stretches u just showed and honestly they WORK! ,Thanx a lott.

Every once in a while I actually WAKE UP to this type of injury/pain to my thumb and it's surrounding muscles. I don't know what I'm doing in my sleep to cause this but your tips were VERY helpful in relieving my pain and bring back full function to my thumb and hand. Thank you for making this video.

Step 1 worked for my husband's thumb pain within 2 minutes. He had to do it the next night again but the pain has been gone for 4 days now. Awesome! Looking for something for myofascial pain below my right shoulder blade now. :-D Thanks so much.

Thank you soooo much! My thumb was jammed last month. Xrays show no broken bone etc but my thumb hurt so bad! I found your videos and I could cry because the pain is going away and rotation anx ability to move my thumb is slowly being restored. Thank you so much for your helpful videos. My Dr basically did nothing past the xrays and I was feeling scared that I was going to just have to deal with the pain.

So helpful. The physio I went too thought I had dislocated my top thumb joint and needed surgery. I had not pain but it joint felt like it was dislocating. I mentioned that by holding my arm I found it less painful to pop the joint back. Your exercises cured the thumb joint problem as I woke up with the issue there had been no injury.

Wow life saver - Thank you very much for the info on thumb pain. While weight training last night I had a couple bouts of sudden pain in my thumb, when got home it completely locked up feeling like it was severely damaged if not broken. Excruciating pain, tough night sleep. This did wonders!

Gary, I am very glad to have found your video, and wish to offer my sincere 'thank you'. Pain in my thumb developed very quickly, but is a probably the result of genetics and various snow boarding injuries left unattended. Anyway, after things got to the point where I was waking myself up with the pain when moving in my sleep and bumping my thumb, I make a quick search. Just minutes into your video I could feel relief. I will continue to implement your recommendations. Much appreciated.

While I was doing the moves copying u, my thumb was paining a lot. But immediately then i was relieved frm the pain a lot!! Thank u sooo much Gary. I was almost deciding to go to the hospital. It all started last August when woke up in the morning. I really donno what happened while i was sleeping. I never got hurt while i was awake.

How it went was great. I tried your stretches as you were demonstrating them and for the first time in months received relief from constricting pain. I haven't been able to touch my thumb tip to pinky tip without pain for a year or more, but am able to just now. Thank you for your excellent and helpful work.

My thumb had become swollen from playing too much guitar without stretching properly. This really worked. I was very surprised. I'm glad I did not have to keep taking NSAIDS, they work sometimes, but have terrible side effects. I love your videos, the one about wrist pain relief also woked. I think the key thing to remember when doing these exercises is to remain patient. It took me a couple of sessions of doing these excersises, but the swelling in my thumb did go down. I was very happy. Thanks again for these videos Gary, you are lending a great amount of help to people in need.

Been having thumb joint pain the last month or so I'm 60 yrs old workout 4 days a week . But working some graveyards don't sleep enough & my thumb is over worked probably from texting on right thumb my left no problems . I will try some of your movements Gary thank you

Sheila Ross. 2 weeks in Spain. No internet for 10+days! My husband and I both sat doing your exercises!! Mine is much better - I have done the exercises anyhow. Only my upper arm now and a bit deep in the thumb hurts. Even played the piano - 1st time for 4 months! Thank you. Very good and clear instructions. I am telling others about you!! Theirs was much worse than mine and they have done nothing yet.

+Gary Crowley You are so right! I have just copied out your quotation. L. da Vinci I love anyhow. I have sent it to others! We are doing...... only my upper arm hurts a bit when I press. And a bit on the knuckle of the thumb. I can do stuff without pain at last! Amazing. Went to a party yesterday and could hold a wine glass for the first time for yonks! Denial has been my strategy for years, or I would never have re-learned all that I am now able to do. Thank you. A huge weight lifted up again? I walk daily as well. All is more relaxed. Your words have made such a difference. I felt stuck not so long ago. I am not good NOT knowing what to do!!

OMGosh, this was so helpful. First I was giving you the side eye, but I still went ahead and mimicked your movements. My thumb is still sore, but now I can make the number four with less pain and I just screwed the top on a bottle without pain. Thanks so much, I will keep working on it. I've been in pain for 4 months and this was here all along! Subscribed, liked, and favorited!

Hello jdbready59, Yes, I worked with a fair number of De Quervain Syndrome patients. Do you hold your iPad for long periods of time with your thumbs? Just a guess. You really have to take your time and get deep into all those muscles in your forearm, especially the ones directly connected to your thumb. Glad it's helping. All the best, Gary Crowley

i love this, i have had a bad problem with my right thumb for the past 2 weks. it hurt so bad to where i could not bend it at times. i did do this and it has helped with the pain so much. i can actually use my thumb now with out it hurting. thanks for the help. big relief!

it did, my mom on the other hand had problems for a very long time. and we actually sit down one day and i showed her this video and she tried it her self. of course she is older and has difficulty's doing things with her hands. She has found some relief in this as well. i can say thanks from the both of us... big help! i recommend people to watch this when they have pains like this in their hands. very helpful in some cases. ;)

I have trigger thumb and this helped getting my thumb to work properly for about ten minutes and then stuck again.

Hi Ijaz, Yes, trigger thumbs and fingers can be very difficult to release. Sometimes those tendons just don't want to really let go for any extended amount of time. Sorry about that. Best, Gary C.

Thank you very much for helping me return to my gaming controller as It worked for me. I have recently bought xbox and continuously playing fifa on it, Due to that my thumb skin got too tight and have got pain in my left thumb. I hope your exercise will help me in long run too.

Thank you so much! I have had pain at the bottom of thumb where joined at the socket when picking up anything that put pressure there. Your technique gave immediate relief before your video completed. I will be checking out your website for an issue I'm having with my shoulder and hopefully will find something to help there. Hi Gary, I had to revisit this again as my gardening shears left my thumb in pain again. Using both press, pull, and release, with the press and move techniques. Was wondering how often this can be done ? Also can I do them immediately after the pain comes ?

Again, fantastic, I had been using these techniques for a while with GREAT results. Recently have had nasty pains come back again to those areas (tough Capoeira class!) U show here Dr. Crowley. Wow! Thanks I am trying this before I see a doctor. My knuckle on n my thumb “clicks”. It’s not too painful but it’s tender. Hopefully this all I need to do. And it may be ole arthritis! Thanks for this video! Merry Christmas!😊🙏🏻

Glad I found this after many years of the video being out. I keep jamming my fingers and thumbs while doing heavy duty cleaning; to the point where I can’t bend one thumb very far. Tried the press hold release moves and felt instant relief and mobility. Thank you!

Hi Liz, You'll probably have to work the tight tendon and fascia tissue on the entire "top" (thumb nail side) of your thumb, but a lot of benefit from working the tissue from that top knuckle down to the base if it's tight. In your daily life, if you press a lot with your thumb you may have to do this as regular maintenance. I know because I use my thumbs a lot and mine will start to click every once in a while if I don't work on it every couple of weeks. Best, Gary Crowley

For a while I had been googling for help with this trigger thumb that triggers at the joint right below the thumbnail; and the area around the joint at the base of my thumb was so tender. I ended up keeping it in homemade splints (usually using a paperclip and wrapping with tape). During my googling, one hand surgeon's said the ONLY remedy is surgery as that was the only way the nodule could be freed up. Oh lordy! Of course he also recommended anti-inflamitories and cortisone. Double lordy! I don't do drugs so I decided that tonight I would keep googling till I found real help. By the way, my doctor said it was arthritis but I simply did not agree. Then, I found you about 20 minutes ago. I started massaging and pressing and releasing, etc., etc. Needless to say, it was painful but the way you presented the treatment and assured each and every one of us that this would work kept me at it. The first thing that happened was that the area at the base of the thumb became very itchy --wow!...good sign. I can tell you that the pain is much, much less and that I will continue with your treatment. I was also very interested in your C6 reference in one of your responses to someone. I haven't seen my chiro in well over a year and maybe the time is nigh. Sorry for the book-length post, but I just had to get it out...lol. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Linda, Thanks for sharing the great news! I'm thrilled to hear whenever someone has been freed from pain because of my videos. Keep at and you should be pain free in no time. Most joint pain labeled "arthritis" is just the shortening and tightening of tissue around joints, which you can fix. For that C6, you can do it yourself. Hi Andrew, Yes, do this Thumb Pain Video Series, change the way you text (at least for while). I've had patients with this from holding an iPad a certain way for too long. I had this when I had a bulky Otter Box for my iPhone and my thumbs had to "reach" over the edge. Hard to believe but when I got a really slim phone case, my thumbs never had the issue again. Hey Gary, Years ago I broke my thumb. No pain or problems ever since. Just recently was surfing and I think I sprained my thumb. It's not too sore but if I do push ups or surf for longer than an hour it gets sore and restricted. Shall I give it time and if so is this video relevant in treating my thumb sprain?

The fact that doing normal activities, such as surfing for only an hour, make your thumb hurt means there is probably a few areas you could benefit from working on. It could be from texting or some other activity that seems like you're not doing anything. A couple years ago I got an Otterbox case for my phone that shockingly caused my thumbs to hurt a lot. I couldn't believe it, but I tested with and without the case and it was definitely causing the pain. And I don't even text excessively. So, it's probably something you're doing with your thumb and don't realize it's the problem. Hope that helps. Best, Gary C.

I depend on my thumb for my job. I drive lindy loading machines, loading trucks. They are designed to be operated solely by the right thumb (though i have been using my left). I think I have RSI from doing it for 3 years+ full time. Hopefully this helps..

My pain is between the bass of my thumb and wrist, like the big thick muscle. I am gymnast and now i cant do any handstands or anything that has a downward pressure onto my hand. this video helped my relieve some pain, but its really deep inside my thumb
