TBH I think if Melo, Russ & PG stay one more season they'll get it right. Chemistry takes time, no Melo is not near washed up at all, he can still average 20+ a game if he wanted to, but OKC also didnt use him right at all. They made him a catch & shoot player when they forgot he can be a bully in the post

Notice how majority of his success came from either the post, fastbreak, or a shot off the dribble. Yes he’ll hit a catch and shoot 3, but solely using him in this category will set him up for failure. That’s why he failed with the Thunder. He’s a rhythm basketball player. He’s the type of player who is better shooting a *contested mid-range shot off the dribble* rather than an open 3 pointer. It sounds idiotic, but a basketball player would understand. Sometimes rhythm alone is enough to make a crazy shot go in. He has to get hot first before he steps out of his boundaries. I know because I myself find shots off rhythm rather than catch and shoot. Melo still has I’d say 1-2 years left in him. He just needs to be on a team that can commit to him and surround him around vets who have high IQ and are willing to sacrifice.

Most loyal player in the league. He stayed in New York even though he was being mistreated by Phil Jackson yet he still stayed. Went to OKC and had his role reduced. Carmelo Anthony is my favorite player of all time so this season was kind of hard to watch for me. I need to see the old Carmelo next season. I really hope that Carmelo wins a championship in his career. But from what I've seen this season, it looks like it might never happen.

If the Brooklyn Nets can't get any of Parker/Randle/Gordon, Melo should be next up. They are competing to win now and with a more balanced team, he could really elevate that team.

I still think this could have worked. Russ needed to be sat down and told to stop shooting threes and contested midranges (which he cant make) and work on making PG the #1 scoring option. While Melo should be taking 10-15 shots a game. Melo should've also been told to take more efficient shots and pass out whenever he got double teamed.

The biggest thing is his foot speed isn't how it used to be so he doesn't get to the line as often he used to be able to fly by you with one step now he relies on the jumper and if that's going he'll drive because you'll be more up on him
