Let us sit down for a nice chat as I share all the many reasons why we moved from our pole barn home that we built ourselves. I'll share some details about the home we have moved to, and some of the life lessons that have come out of this experience. I hope you can learn from them!

I get it! We have made moves that made no sense to those around us (like moving from NY to TN just to escape the politics), but we know in our hearts that what we do for our family is what's best, no matter what anyone else thinks.

I so understand why y’all made this move. I now live in the home of my dreams, 27 years and counting! My love for Victorian homes began when I was 5 or 6 years old, with my grandparents home. I loved that house, and dreamed of someday having my own. My husband had wanted to move back to the town where he grew up. There was an old Victorian house there that really captured my heart and I would tell him, “Buy me that house and I will move.” We bought that house, signing the papers on our 24th anniversary! We have been renovating it ever since! Never give up on your dreams.

Cami, I get it!! My husband and I have owned several homes, fixers, that we work hard on and then sell for various reasons. When we were able to buy my grandparents farm it was a dream for me and I was so excited to get in there and just live. It needed updates and still does, but 11 years later, I have been able to live my life in a more rested state, content with how things are so I can focus on the parts of my life and that of my family that have nothing to do with turning our home into a mini construction zone. I still have dreams for this home but I am not in a hurry. My kids are growing up fast and I want to take time to smell the roses of life with them. The house can wait.

We built a beautiful log home in the mountains, it was beautiful, sold it for 350 acres and a 100 year old farmhouse, we loved it there, my kids, grand kids, raised and showed horses, cattle and pigs, we loved all of it!! Good luck on your new adventure!!

I totally get it. My husband and I bought a really run-down older home and we were young and had skills. WE were optimistic we could do the work. The location was great, great yard and good schools. After 4 years of total remodel, were burned out and still had projects. We sold that house and bought a turnkey home and never regretted the move.

After 30 years of buying fixer uppers and transforming them only to move on to another has worn me out. 😂 I am so ready to move into a turnkey home and just enjoy it. There will always be things to do but not stripping woodwork and reglazing windows!

I can't wait to see the new house! It sounds like a dream! I completely agree about being led to your desires. I fell in love the very first time I watched Anne of Green Gables when I was a child and I've longed for the feel of it my entire life. My husband and I just had the opportunity to buy his family home, built by his great grandfather over 100 years ago. It sits on 13 acres. The house looks almost exactly like the Anne of Green Gables house at Prince Edward Island. I pinch myself every day that I get to live and raise my kids here and be a part of this history. Wishing you many happy years in your new home!

You’ve touched on so many beautiful points in this video that I won’t comment on them all but I will add that the “trauma” you mentioned is certainly a real thing, the pasture not necessarily needing to be greener to desire a change is a thing and, also, God planting righteous desires, I believe, is also beautiful and inspiring. The experience of life makes these journeys amazing and as long as you can be content and your heart continues to be in a posture ready to receive His blessings and be happy…ahhh, what a joy💙🙏🏻. Enjoy every moment and we will be looking so forward to your continuing to share with us…the keepers of our homes. Thank you for sharing❤

Thank you Cami for sharing your story and for your honesty. I was glued to the screen, listening to every detail. I’m happy for you and your family that your joy is being restored. I think I had shared some time ago that we started fostering at the age of 59 and my husband was 63. We felt the Lord was calling us to do this and it has been such a blessing. We thought after the first child left, she was here about 4 years that we were done but last July we were called and asked to take a 6 year old boy into our home. We prayed about it and talked with our pastor and we just knew we had to do it. So maybe the Lord will lead you towards fostering. All the best to you and your family. I can’t wait to see your new home.😀

First of all it’s no one’s business the choices you make for you and your family. That being said, my husband and I sold our home we had lived in for over thirty years, the one we raised our family in, the one we had renovated for a run down farmhouse on nine acres of land. But that farmhouse happened to be the one I grew up in, situated on land that had been in the family since the 1800’s. So I totally get you. That pull and desire. This house was vacant, falling down. That part of my family history was doomed. God gave us the desire and the strength to rescue it. We worked, man did we work for over two years. We moved in last June and it has already been such a blessing to us and to others. Was it hard to sell the home we raised our family in? Absolutely! But in making that hard decision we have brought our girls back to their true roots and that is an amazing thing. Chin up sister! God is working all things for your good!

I totally get it! Thanks for sharing. My husband and I have felt that the Lord is moving us to a different state, leaving behind our adult children and first grandbaby, extended family, beloved church in which we served at various ministries, and the sweet small town my husband grew up in. It is difficult, but we know in our hearts this is what we are supposed to do. I am happy for you and your family!

One year prior to Covid we decided to relocate to another state. We were both retired and found our cottage. I saw the potential immediately while my husband didn't even want to look at it. We downsized from 12 acres to 7, and have beautiful seasonal gardens, trees and are able to see the Smokey mountains from our back property. A lot of remodeling has gone into the house and we couldn't be happier. You will definitely make this house as beautiful as your last one. Your children will have many memories with their grandparents, and friends. Everything happens for a reason and you will be fine.

It’s about seasons of life, or your life’s journey path which is never a straight one and has lots of curves, switchbacks, hills and valley’s as you walk it. Enjoy this season in your life, live n your new home for at least 6 months or a year before making any big updates, because by then, you will know the flow of the home and how your family uses it, paint to refresh, yes, but work with what you have for a year before jumping into any Reno’s. How exciting for all of you!

Your new home seems to be such a blessing from God. I love a cottage look. It brings such inviting and peaceful fill. I move fro a new home to a home built in the 50’s out of state because of life changes in my family. First I lost my husband with cancer at a young age. Then a few years later one of my sons moved to the town where I am now living and was raising his three children alone since his wife left. I needed to be the babysitter. Many years has passed since then and he remarried and move back to the state we use to live. I feel God has put me here for a reason and being obedient to His will for my life is important. I would love to live near my family but if that is Gods plane for later He will put me where I should be.

Ok, now I get it! My husband and I also have the hobby of looking at real estate listings. So far, even though this acre of property is getting to be a lot for us to manage, so far the Lord has not led us to another property. The house we live in now was built in 1910. We hired a builder to restore it and it took them a year to finish. A couple years before we bought the house we had a feeling and vision for fostering or adopting more children. We had four children and then, ten years later, we had another little miracle child. It wouldn’t have been long before we would be left with one child still living with us. For some reason, we knew that the Lord wanted us to sell our other house and move back closer to the town we were from. It took us two years to find a dilapidated, disgusting house right in the middle of the town my husband grew up in. We got it for a song and it sits on an acre. We closed on the house the last of February and started working on it, as it was not livable. Two weeks later, my best friend passed suddenly and without warning of no apparent cause. She was 38 and vibrant. We immediately got custody of her two children, as she had written us into her will to raise them, should she pass. There were many, many things that transpired in all of that, but suffice it to say, we now have seven children and the two from my friend fit right in the ten year gap between our last two biological children! God knows what He is doing and He knows our future. Because of financial reverses and lots of other life happenings, we weren’t able to move into the home until six years after we bought it. We spent a lot of time and effort salvaging flooring and other architectural elements from old houses to put into our house to restore it and to make it feel like it was all there to begin with(we did put in all state of the art systems, however). We didn’t want it to look remodeled, but restored. It was a ton of work and probably not financially sound to do a lot of what we did, but it has been our comfortable home for 16 years and all the kids love coming over for get togethers. All that to say, I understand your desire for an older home. There’s nothing like the feel of one and it’s hard to explain. Your pole barn home is gorgeous and you both did an unbelievable job building and designing it and all the beautiful spaces. However, I think you’ll enjoy your new home more. One suggestion, even though you love the Old World style for the pole barn home, it think it would be wise to leave that style there and design your new home in the style of its character. It’s always unnerving to me when people buy a house that is older, so the outside looks charming, but then they tear every bit of the charm of the inside out of it and put in a style that is totally incongruent with the style of the home originally. Just my two cents! 😂 May your new home be a blessing to you and your family and may you make many happy memories there. I can’t wait to see it!

I also am in love with a Queen Anne house that I dreamed of living in. Unfortunately I believe it won’t happen for me because we are being forced to move out soon and it’s off the market at this time. When it was on the market all I did is plan on how to do cosmetic fixtures on it. Plus creating a wonderful garden layout. Sadly, I think I will continue to dream. 30 years in our home in RI painstakingly adding charm and gardens, driven out by high taxes, houses on every inch of vacant land and corrupt govt. ...now in Texas starting all over. Once we got over the initial shock of moving, it's really quite freeing. The possibilities are endless. God can see all that we can't and what doesn't make sense to some people, we just really can't concern ourselves with. One day we will see it all. Best wishes and have fun.

I totally get it! We have moved a lot over the years, and every time has been for different reasons. My husband and I are also dreamers like you talked about. I love older homes with character too so I can totally relate. I can’t wait to see your new home, and it sounds so lovely with a dreamy garden & landscaping!

Congrats! So exciting for you and your family (and very excited to see your upcoming tours and videos)! In the last video, it was difficult to imagine why you would leave your existing [awesome] home, but it makes perfect sense after you explained it. Thank you for sharing this incredible experience (love, love the sweet reminder/lesson at end... Priceless wisdom!) Awww, the refreshing power of dreams and of our awesome God! So awesome!

I really hope for you that you know what you are doing !! Americans keep moving from place to place till they are too old to work and pay any morgage they end up renting a one bedroom apartment and barely surviving !

So happy for you guys and I’m excited to see what you do with the inside! 😍 When I saw your home listing on Zillow (I wrote to you about this on instagram in a dm) my jaw dropped and I wanted to buy your guys’ home!! 😂😭 Also, when you mentioned your husband building saunas! This is something my husband plans on building for me (hopefully here soon) because we’ve found it to be suuuoer helpful for my hypothyroidism (Hashimotos disease) my fatigue significantly drops and I have more energy for the day when I sit in a sauna. I’m currently going to one at a rec center. Anyways, that could be a helpful tip for your husband’s business because I’m learning that many people who also have Hashimotos disease don’t know the benefits of sitting in a sauna!! ❤️

I get it now! I was so afraid you were having to move due to some terrible circumstance-a diagnosis or financial reason. Thank you for taking us along on this blessed journey! Wishing you all the best and anxious to see this dreamy home!

5 Acres are more than enough for you to take care of. You will appreciate that as you grow older. 😊 anyway if you had a dream and you can have that dream come true you would be foolish to let it slip away ❤

The article you read really hit home with me as my husband and I currently live in his grandparents farmhouse that was built in the early 1900’s. There’s SO much potential here and when others think we’re crazy for wanting to fix it up, I LOVE the idea. BUT, what your hairdresser said to you was also profound because I had that EXACT thought this morning…”or I can make it beautiful just the way it is!! ❤
