What a beautiful shirt. It is hard to believe it started solid black. The large spaces between the geodes are really cool. Thanks for another great video.

Yes, this snow was very dry and powdery. I did a mandala incline and had to pack my trough three times each side, to force the dye through and get it running. It turned out great, an icy cool look with lots of blues. Thanks for the tips!

@@FunEndeavors, I cant handle boiling hot water as I've had a stroke and have to use my one good hand to hold cane. I need to find a way to make it work though. Results are clearly better with OWB.

@@lazonfutura2872 I see. Some people who don't live in the US can't get Out White Brite, so I thought that might be the case. It would be difficult to handle boiling water safely. Perhaps using a tea kettle for the boiling water would be a safer option?

Gorgeous Angie 👏🏻👏🏻 I can’t wait to try some ice dying (we don’t get snow here) but unfortunately I’ll have to wait till Winter here, as the Australian Summers are relentless 🥵🥵 Thanks for sharing, stay safe friend 💟✌🏻🙏🏻🌈☮️

Thank you! We don't get much snow where I live either, but this winter has been an exception. It's been kind of fun to get to use snow instead of ice on a few shirts, but the end product is pretty much the same. Let me know how it goes when you are able to do some ice dyeing - I think you will probably end up loving it. I am so ready for summer - I think the heat is great for processing tie dyes and getting vivid colors. I'm looking forward to warmer weather.

Ms. Angie I get a brain freeze when it comes to putting my colors together. Please help🤦🏽♀️😫
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
@@ms.bardotb1900 Honestly, choosing colors is one of the toughest parts. I have a tendency to get in kind of a color rut, and so I have to constantly make myself use colors I rarely use. That's one reason why I love my color swatches so much. I can pull them out and mix and match them until I have a color combination that I love. I think one of the easiest ways to choose what colors look best together is by consulting a color wheel. Since the three primary colors of tie dye are lemon yellow, fuchsia, and turquoise - they will always go well together. From there I just make sure that the colors I am using will blend nicely and not form a lot of brown. The hardest colors for me are orange and yellow. I like those colors, but since they don't look good on me - I rarely wear them and in turn have a harder time using them for tie dye. Yellow tends to get overtaken by most of the other colors, and orange is so powerful that it seems to overtake everything I put it on. I lean toward using a lot of red, blue, purple and pink. In general those colors go well together. I really like green too and I usually end up putting it with either blue or yellow. If you are ice dyeing - neutrals or earth tones like the beige/brown or grey/black colors are great to use to separate colors that might not blend together very well. Most of the darker colors have great color splits too so they are always fun to add into a shirt.

Pretty! Could some OWB still be in that one area? I’ve yet to try a geode shirt. Thanks for the inspiration!
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, I washed the shirt after using the OWB so it was all washed out. There was the very end of 1 geode poking up from the muck - that was obviously the one.
@lucindawelenc21913 жыл бұрын
Argh! I was using a waxed cord instead of sinew, and apparently the boiling water melted off the wax! Several of my geodes came untied! Have you had any problem with that? Or do you tie off and knot each one? I think I can salvage the geode look, since green is not going to show over black. Just tie them up again, but not as tight.
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Yikes! So far I haven't had any issues with the sinew coming untied during the reversal process. I usually leave the shirt tied and throw it in the washing machine after I rinse the Out White Brite out, and I will sometimes have part of the sinew fray or come loose after going through the washing machine. I usually don't knot my sinew either. I just pull it super tight and it will grip itself and stay in place. You're right though, the green won't show over the black so you can just tie them again and apply the dye. Let me know how it turns out.

@meganmcgowan57983 жыл бұрын
@Fun Endeavors We were spared the worst of the problems. We had lots of snow and ice, but thankfully, no power outages or burst pipes. Many of our neighbors, though, had water damage. Some were hit with astronomical light bills if they were on Griddy (a variable rate prepaid plan... some ended up with bills in the thousands for just a few days, and this happened even if they were affected by blackouts. We're on a fixed rate plan thru TXU and even though I'm sure our bill will be higher than usual, at least we aren't looking at $5,000-17,000 worth just for a month! Could have been much worse here... for some, it was.

I ordered turquoise from dharma but it's so chunky for ice dyes! Do u know how to make it dust
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
At the Dollar Store you can buy a small strainer - like the smallest one in this set: amzn.to/3laMsTH You can put a small amount of dye into the strainer and dust the dye through the holes. Kind of like sifting it the way that you would flour. You can sift it into another container and not directly onto your shirt if you are doing more finite dye placement.

Hi Angie, I had a quick question if you wouldn't mind? Whenever you are applying your white bright to your shirt in the tub is it dry completely or is it wet or damp? I've had a hard time having the white bright saturate through to the center and it may be because that I'm tying it too tight but that is the only other thing that I can think of was that the shirt needed to be completely dry when adding the out white Brite to the removal of the color process. Thank you very much for your time and appreciate it. Ben Kiesov
@FunEndeavors2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben - I've actually used Out White Brite on both slightly damp and fully dry shirts, but I haven't paid much attention to the difference. I'll have to pay more attention next time. I agree with you though - a dry shirt probably works best. I've had issues a few times when I used too much sinew and put the lines too close together on a geode. I think there was probably a little bit of wax residue in between the close sinew lines and it didn't allow enough Out White Brite into that area.
