If you see how United lose the ball and how scattered their midfielders and attackers are adding rice would make little to no difference. That's my attempt to be as critically fair as possible, because if we go by overall stats, Rice is not just Top 10, he's Top 3 in most of those stats. Sure, that's cumulative, but to play that much and accrue that much means a lot too. This is all without taking into account the style of play played by the team Rice belongs to. Rice is the holding/box to box midfielder in a system that is heavily centered around counter attacks which are focused down the wings. Almost none of the West ham attack is geared towards incisive through balls for a striker with great off the ball runs, it's more quick paced forward movement with a lot of dribbling by the midfielders and forwards mixed in with hold up by Antonio from time to time. The important thing to take away from all this though, is that when it comes time for Rice to pick a pass, sideways or incisive, he's the best along with Rodri and Fabinho in terms of mixing it up from the middle, in terms of BOTH overall percentage as well as per 90 percentage.
