Hello . Can you help me, why welder machine is better if AHP AlphaTIG 201XD 200-Amp IGBT Pulse AC DC Tig/Stick Welder 110/240V Or this TIG WELDER PRIMEWELD TIG225X 225 Amp IGBT ACDC Tig/Stick Welder with Pulse CK17 .

I have not owned an AHP Tig machine but I think they are pretty good. I can tell you that the PrimeWeld TIG 225X is a good machine. Mine has treated me well over the past 7 or 8 months. I don't know which one is better. AHP just came out with a new machine called the AHP AlphaTIG 203XI (PRE-ORDER - SHIPPING MID-MARCH). If I were looking for a machine I would take a serious look at that one. I really like the digital control panel and it has some real nice features that would be nice for a beginner TIG welder. Weld.com just did a new video on this machine and it looked real nice. Small in weight and size too. Here is a link to that video if you want to check it out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLinmMp4rcfal4E.html

I bought the Primeweld 225 about a month ago. Learning to TIG just as you. Keep up the practice, it's the only way to get better. I have a long way to go. I've done MIG for 5-6 years building projects for clients. In the middle of a large project and thought why not learn TIG but no way I'll use for work just yet. Suggestions made by others here are spot on. Clean metal, torch angle, tungsten height from weld, tungsten stickout too. You could let that tungsten out a bit with that #7 cup. Having something you want to build is the best motivation to learn and get better. I would like to make some delicate steel french doors with glazed glass panels for my own house. That's my motivation to improve on my very so-so TIG ability.

Thank you for all the nice tips, I really appreciate the help. I keep practicing and some improvement. I have recently just realized I need glasses. Ha Ha I used to wear glasses many years ago and then had lasik eye surgery. It's been about 10 years now and trying to learn TIG has made me realize I need glasses again. I understand most of the welding concept and issues but I have a hard time seeing the pool consistently. Thanks for the comment and advice! Happy welding!

I would suggest getting a little closer to the puddle, and again get that welding arm something to slide across! Another good idea is to give your torch about a 15 degree tilt toward the line of travel helps you to see what end of the tungsten, this'll also have you adding the filler around the same tilt away from the work piece. Also with standard consumables you should be able to have a stick out of 5/16" using a #5 cup hard to see if that is what you have but if you are shorter pull it out more. Your filler dipping timing is really good man!

Your comment is probably the most informative comment I have ever received on my welding adventure. EXACTLY what I am looking for and I can't thank you enough. I really do appreciate your suggestions! I was using a #7 standard cup in this video so I should be able to have quite a bit more stick out then what I had in the video. Also tilting the torch more tilt will help a lot. I'm going to do my best to apply all of your suggestions the next time I practice with the TIG. Again, I can't thank you enough, I really appreciate the tips. Keep them coming! Thank you for the filler dipping timing compliment. Sometimes I really get shaky and it's terrible. Ha Ha

Wow this is what it's all about a beginner welder taking the time to share his experience it's not perfect which is cool it's like all of us as we were as beginners.cool I also like the responsible comments some people made not trying to be a bully or mean in any way that makes it very helpful.. I also have a primewell 225 absolutely love it great machine trying to learn settings keep what you doing up you may not be number one TIG welder. Now maybe someday you will be who knows wouldn't it be cool or just like me sitting back and just having a great time with my primewell ,225 welder I rather listen to the music on my welder then talk to people the machine makes more sense you turn up the volume on your radio I turn the amperage up on my TIG 225 👍 🇺🇸

Find a way to rest both arms and be able to move them. This, by itself, will help you with the shakiness and will allow a more consistent arc length. Muscle tension to elevate your arms is the cause of shakiness, for us older pedes. For everyone, get a 220 outlet installed. This gives 2 120v legs to handle a given amperage without tripping a breaker for the same load.

I like the machine. I haven't used the Prime Weld much since I got the YesWelder though. I really like the digital interface and temp controlled fan on the YesWelder. It's nice to have the fan turn off for making videos. I don't have any complaints about the Prime Weld 225 but the fans are pretty loud for video making. If I'm not making a video, the fan noise doesn't bother me. Do you have a Prime Weld?

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I have the Longevity 200 received this month. It came with HF start not working; they offered to send me a board, I opened the machine up and found a dangling wire, reattached the wire and we're rocking so far. I feel... that there is a Primeweld in my near future! All them pots and ability to control so many variables and have pulse. Makes me sweat just thinking about it. lolz

You need to clean your metal better, tig likes clean. Grind down to clean metal, then wipe everything down with acetone. Don't keep the tungsten so far away from the metal, try to keep it about 1/8" away. Keep practicing you'll get the hang of it. Wipe your filler down also. most important, watch the puddle, not the arc, wait for the puddle to wet and then start moving it with the arc. Keep your torch angle about 15-20 degrees. as you move the puddle add the filler. Make sure everything is clean, I can't emphasize that enough.

Thank you very much for the tips, I really appreciate it! I was hoping to get some advice and your suggestions make perfectly good sense. I'll be applying your tips on cleaning on my next practice session. Also the 15-20 degree torch angle is really going to help me to see the puddle and tungsten much better than before. I am anxious to get to more practicing with the tips you have given me. Again, thank you very much for the advice!

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I'm just a DIY welder, so take what I tell you with a grain of salt. I also just got my Primeweld only about a month ago, so just getting familiar with it. I had a DC Tig machine for about 2.5 years before. Tig is not an easy process to learn, mainly because you feed your filler with one hand, move the torch with the other, and operate the pedal. Keep practicing, it'll get easier. On the torch, yes, you can see easier but mainly you need to have it angled so you can move the puddle. If you're right handed you will be welding right to left, with the torch angled in the direction your welding...watch the puddle. Your filler should be approx 90 degrees to your torch angle. You need to keep the filler inside the argon cone, not the arch, but the gas area. If you keep pulling it out and putting it back in your weld will get contamination. Also if you keep it in the arc your filler will melt continually. Again, I'm not a professional welder. Watch Jody Collier's videos, and his forum is good also, Welding Tips & Tricks. There's a number of Primeweld owners there.
