Do you ever check the endplay on the disc main bearings. we had alot of trouble on out 22 inch hotsaw on our hydro-ax 721 e. we had to use a special grease also regular grease has lapping compound in it and it will take the chrome off the the bearings, and it will not handle the operating temperatures also.

Another fascinating video up close to this massive equipment-didn't realize how big those cutters are.A 5'X20 flywheel--that's going to have some energy behind it as it spins-how fast does the cutter wheel spin when energized?Even turning that wheel by hand looks like you have to be aware where your other hand is and other workers hands are!

@kepplec
@kepplec 7 жыл бұрын
That's not a horrible price for carbide work tools. I had a Morbark 1300 tub and 4600 horizontal grinder. We changed or flipped teeth daily on them. We would buy the teeth by the pallet as they took the same one. Bolts and nuts by the 100's. If I remember correctly it was around $40 per tooth to change it out, with each machine had 20-24 depending on how the rotor was set up. The nuts and bolts were a wear item as well, so they only got reused when you flipped it, then its all into the scrap bin. It only got really expensive when someone would hit large metal. Like truck springs, wheels, crank shafts, starters, pins out of a 400 size excavator.. Man t he horrible noise it would make! Just the cost of doing business.

JUST AN IDEA,i work in machine shop,we have tooling with carbide insert tips,the carbid tips have seats and chip breakers on them,what if u could make an insert carbid tool for that cutter,triangle carbid insert tool,negative tips would have 6 sides,positive tips would have 3 sides,just change tips,3 sides for positive tips,negative tips wouldhave 6 sides,pack of 10 carbid inserts,u need 2 packslooks like bolt that holds insert is a 1inch,be a lot cheaper to replace inserts than the whole tool,wonder if any company makes inter changeable tips for a cutter like that,MIGHT BE ON TO SOMETHING HERE,if its a positive tip,just change tip,3 times just change same tip

Those old bolts look like they have a "serrated" head pattern. A twelve point socket wouldn't fit properly; that was probably your problem! A "serrated" head pattern would make tampering/intentional loosening harder! If one of those teeth comes off, watch out!

Coyote Hammer,someone will figure how to get around the tax.my idea would be to send Canadian lumber to Europe, then bringing back European lumber to export to the US. No tariff on European lumber. while those trips to Europe never really make it there. Just take the lumber for a ride, and then it was imported from Europe.
