Glenn Tupper's arrival into the same field from the same direction is a much better tactic. Then again the wing I was flying is a boat, but wingovers, to dissipate altitude right at the edge of the field aren't as easy to accomplish on a 30M free flight wing.

Yep. Either that or hang it in the trees and call 911. Most of the guys had to circle right anyhow, but clean living, a big slow wing and having shed a few pounds this spring... I was able to more or less go straight out.

I can't speak for Tucker, but even going back to my own childhood, have found county parks to be far less scrutinized, than city or municipal parks. Especially so if the municipality employs park management or even rangers. Go early, or go late, after all the soccer moms have take their kids home and you'll have more success. Never go to the same place consecutively. As to the legality? I suspect, you (much like myself) would rather have permission first, than suffer accusation later...but that's probably not going to work for expanding your places to PPG from. You're always going to find someone that will tell you, "No, you can't... It's not safe...we don't allow that...we need to learn more about it...Too much liability...You need to talk with so and so (he's not here today) first...You need proof of insurance...". The problem is that many of those people have neither the authority, nor the foundation in law, to prevent you from running fast enough to get airborne with a paramotor/glider from publicly owned property. Last year I had a lifeguard (they are deputized law enforcement in my county) tell me I couldn't launch because of airspace he was protecting, citing that he had been called before over the years by the local airport's tower to help track down airspace violators. Were I stood on a vacant beach, I was 5 miles from that airspace and didn't plan to fly near it. I wasted my time arguing with that arrogant asswipe for over an hour. He became annoyed when I reminded him where his jurisdiction ended and that it did NOT include airspace, but enraged when I reminded him he only got to be ONE of the 3 branches of government, not all 3 by himself. I Would legally contest any gear confiscation or arrest, because I strive to follow the written rules. Most counties and municipalities have electronically accessible law sets. Very few specifically address or prohibit ultralight flight operations from publicly owned properties. Do your own research, DBAD and plan to attempt to defuse accusations of wrong doing with education and specifics about FAR 103 and then local government codes.

Thanks Yankee, I have the same problems where I live, near Buffalo, NY. I once had a park manager tell me I couldn't fly, right after I gave an enthusiastic explanation of what I was doing, to a cop at the same park! He wanted to learn about the sport, and wholeheartedly had no problems with what I was doing, he encouraged me to continue! BTW, what are the dimensions of that field?

@@wayneppg898 It sure measures (google map satellite view tools) bigger than it looks - 220' wide by 750' long, but surrounded by 65' pines and an uphill grade of about 6-7% (45-50' elevation) from the east end low point to the crest at the road where the biggest trees are on the west side.
