Clarification about the lesbian thing: You cannot change someone’s sexuality. She did not stop being a lesbian just for this dude. One of two things happened: A) She wasn’t a lesbian to begin with. She might’ve been bi with a preference for women or just straight. B) She’s still a lesbian but is now denying it because he’s manipulated her so much to think that.

As a teen lesbian, who has been groomed by a 50 year old man before, this is honestly so disgusting and I feel incredibly bad for her. He took advantage of her, when she was in a terrible mental space. I don’t know about how she identifies, but I could believe she’s a still a lesbian forcing herself to be with this man to appease her family and society. If she was met with acceptance and love for her sexuality I’d have a hard time believing she would get into this relationship. Especially with how disgusted she sounded when he said she was into older men, that was a major red flag (as if any of this wasn't a red flag). Thankfully they’re quite terrified of my outspoken autistic self and don’t want to introduce me to someone they actually like in case I bring sHaMe to the family. But then again, they blow a fuse if there is any chance that I may be dating someone, like changing my hairstyle, wearing more makeup and being more femme in general. And get mad when I say I won’t get married or have children. Like parents make it make sense. Well I won’t have to see them for at least another 12months and I can live my lesbian life to the fullest until then. (I’m living abroad now and it’s illegal to be gay in my home country)

this is so sad. im happily a lesbian now, but i grew up with a religious family and ended up dating men when i was younger because i didnt want to lose contact with my family. and lemme tell you, the relationships i had with men were the most traumatic experiences of my life. when you are basically forcing urself back into the closet it makes you very easily manipulated and mistreatable.

@@laryssabraga628 honestly? I got in denial for a bit 😅 I think I was kinda scared and feeling guilty of "jumping boat" or something. A lot of people want you to "pick a side", either lesbian or straight, so for a while I thought I had to pick one or else I wasn't valid. I also felt like I was lying to myself, since I had just ended a pretty toxic relationship with an older women, so for a while I convinced myself that I was feeling attraction towards a guy in my college class just because I was disappointed because of my last wlw relationship. But thankfully I made friends with some older bi people (I only found out I actually liked guys too when I was around 20/21) and they helped me to understand that it was ok to like both sides and to allow myself to be truthful to what I am. But to this day, and I'm 30 already, I have people that won't believe me because I "look too much like a lesbian", whatever that means. And I think that not knowing that I liked men during my teenage years kinda took some experiences away from me, nowadays I'm very scared to get up to a guy I'm attracted to, I feel kinda lost on what to do while with women is way easier to engage.

Even that creeps me tf out honestly. As a 27 year old, 23 is the absolute youngest I would consider dating. 1) In my opinion, 18-21 still look like children and 23yo often tow the line a little too close for comfort. I guess maybe you could argue that's just personal preference, but I'd be suspicious of anyone who tried to make that argument. 2) Probably more importantly, 23 is the youngest age where we are still in a similar stage of life, any younger and we simply don't have much in common. Idk how'd you'd build a meaningful relationship out of that Now extend that to a 51yo. 1) Them being attracted to someone 28yrs younger is.... I'll say, starting to look concerning. But them wanting to/actually having sex with that person is extremely concerning. 2) I can't see any world where they have a single thing in common. And due to the power dynamic inherent in an age gap, the relationship HAS to function more like a parent/child situation rather than a peer/peer relationship Yes the 23yo is old enough to make their own decisions, but I will never not be extremely suspicious of the 51yo. And grooming is always a valid concern in these types of relationships

Im a dude who agrees that that type of male photographer is a creep. I worked at a video store back in the day and one of our customers was one of these types, he asked one of my coworkers to do a photo shoot for a local magazine he works for and half way throguh the shoot he told her to start taking her clothes off, she left immediately. He came in one time after that and started to talk crap about her so I immediately shut him down and banned him from our store. He tried to call our district manager on me and when my DM called me to ask about what happened i explained how he sexually harassed one of our employees, so at that point it was over for him, his rental accounts were closed and he was banned from having an account with the company.

So, what I'm about to say CLEARLY doesn't apply to this situation, but immaturity isn't the only (or most common, really) reason that people date younger. Men, in general, are most attracted to women who are about 20-22, regardless of their age. At least physically. And some people are just especially compatible and don't want to let age be a barrier. I can handle someone in my own age group, but I married a woman 9 years my junior. Because, frankly, she was really attractive, very sweet to me, and we got along amazingly well.

I did modeling as a teenager, and I remember getting into a "thing" with my 43 year old photographer when I was 18. It didn't last long and didn't end well. Then I dated a man 8 years older than me who I became "friends" with at 14. That also didn't end well. Dear 18-19 year olds, please don't date old dudes.
