With less than 30 seconds of research, a TikTok video trending on the "for you" page algorithm promoted a conspiracy that left a business with a tarnished reputation over something that could have been so easily avoided. Thanks for watching!

I told my mom, who is a retired teacher, about this and her actual comment was "these are the same students who didn't do well in school because they didn't read what the questions were asking."

If I were rich I'd order $15,000 worth of fedoras just so I could leave a verified purchase review like "I thought I was getting Fedoras but this kid named Dora showed up instead. Rating 3 stars out of 5 because she just wouldn't stop singing about the jungle and a backpack"

People pay more attention to hats on Amazon than actual trafficking cases

Honestly we should have just convinced the tiktok users they were onto something and get them to order the 15k bulk of fedoras to aid investigation

Remember when the actual “missing” people in the Wayfair conspiracy were coming out and confirming that they weren’t missing and the theorists were basically all like “no shut up you are missing you’ve just been brainwashed >:(((“

These people wouldn't know what trafficking is if it happened right in front of them. I miss the days when conspiracies actually had effort and meaningful causes.

there's just something about buying fedoras in bulk that's absolutely hilarious

Even if it was an expensive hat, why is their first instinct trafficking.

Amazon messed up my order. I ordered 2880 sparkly fedoras, and instead I got a child.

I grew up in a business family, my grandfather ran a metal polishing and buffing shop for over 30 years and my mom owns three or four businesses in my area while running a shop owned by a friend during the day, I grew up learning about things like this, so when I see prices like that on ANYTHING, my first thought is that it's probably being sold in bulk. The fact that people could make a big enough deal about this that this video had to be made is astounding, and frankly baffling to me, for the sheer fact that I could never make a mistake like that, even as a kid.

I tend to window shop a lot online and I was instantly like "Does he not realize that's the price for multiple hats...?"

Fun fact: Amazon handles packaging of third party goods, as well as storage of bulk items. I worked in one of their larger warehouses and we would complain about God awful products all the time, and be informed that they were from a "third party seller", so we couldn't quality check the items. It is near impossible for Amazon to be remotely involved in a trafficking scheme, especially since the US government has their eyes on Amazon so closely for countless reasons, so this theory is just a dumb thing to start with.
