It’s the year of the Paris Olympics, Paralympics and the European Football Championship, and questions of sport are at the forefront of the zeitgeist. In the third debate, we consider the role of sportspeople and events within political discourse. Should sport act as a unifying force for those of different backgrounds? Should political actors be universally removed from the sporting world? Do individuals and institutions with cultural power have the same duty and license to tackle inequality and political questions?

TIM HOLLINGSWORTH OBE
Tim is the Chief Executive of Sport England, the Government agency responsible for growing and developing grassroots and community sports and getting more people active across England. He has held the role since November 2018. Tim was also the Chief Executive at the British Paralympic Association for 7 years, on the National Paralympic Committee for the United Kingdom and has served as Secretary General for Paralympics GB at four Paralympic Games including London 2012. Tim currently serves as the Government’s Disability Access Ambassador for Sport and Physical Activity.
