I love this song from Tim. Being an Aussie, it really speaks to the Aussie (gentle at times) sense of humour and the fact our Christmas is celebrated during Summer ... with sun and white wine and, for the lucky ones, family. Tim really is a treasure.

One of my absolute favourite Christmas songs, right up there with Greg Lake's classic. Third would be Sabaton's _Christmas_ _Truce,_ then probably the Piranhas' _Well_ _Away,_ after that it's back to more classics. Anyway, this one usually makes me cry, particularly when he's talking about his older family. It's almost half a century since my only grandparent died, decades since I had parents or uncles, years since my last aunt died (aged 100), and I never had any brothers or sisters. I am very happy with my wife and kids; it just feels wrong, somehow, to be at the top of the family tree at Christmas, even though it inevitably happens to all of us who live long enough. Anyway, if I don't get to comment again before the big day, have a good one!

Busy Christmas week with the Dylan week going on! Loving the amount of content though. :) The day you guys manage to not get sidetracked before the track I won't leave a like. So don't. I stumbled across this song a few days back and my reaction was the same as today. And yesterday's Paul Kelly video. Crying at work cannot become a habit....even if both songs are absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking in their own way. Second song was ridiculous and hilarious. And maybe a bit too honest.

Even more emotional knowing Tim's mum passed away recently, so watching this was kinda hard as I love Tim, he is a brilliant songwriter with either comedy songs deep emotional songs political songs nothing is too much for his brain to make a song out of. I did manage to see him play Judas in a version or Superstar where his amazing voice and perfect acting skills were front and centre, so maybe you can add "Heaven on their minds" by Tim to a future reaction. This was a terrific pairing of songs. Tim Minchin is stupendously talented. I heard a rumor that Tim was opening a childcare center and changing the music program from songs like: "Baa, Baa, Rainbow Sheep" and "There's a Hole in My Bucket" to songs like: "Pope Song" and "Dark Side". I even heard that "Silent Night" might be headed for retirement to be replaced by Kevin Bloody Wilson's "Hey Santa Claus". Just rumors, of course.

When you take all the religious mythology out of Christmas, it becomes a beautiful family togetherness celebration. Since Christmas trees were started by the Sumerians a thousand years before Christianity existed, and gift giving originates with the Romans hundreds of year before Christianity, I see no need to let Christian myths ruin what is a beautiful day.
