Tim responds ignorantly saying “what else are you supposed to wear to the gym?” Like modest gym attire doesn’t exist. The verses I quoted from scripture highlight modesty and I don’t think tight minimal gym attire falls within the category of modesty. Like I said in my previous comment. One cannot control the thoughts of others, but if one is emphasizing their physical traits that are universally deemed as sexual as they are heavily associated with the act of sex, you may be ignorantly causing brothers and sisters of Christ to stumble. I look at the responses in the comments and it seems that a lot of people have taken this as a stamp of approval to not dim their sexuality which the Bible doesn’t condone. Just my thoughts.

@@Desmondenae_ I hope they do. The act of being modest is universal. It doesn’t just mean dress, it applies to all areas of life. If one is wealthy, they don’t need to show off their wealth, if one is handsome or physically gifted, they don’t need to parade around displaying their bodies, if one is extremely talented at a specific task, they do not need to boast their talents for everyone see and praise.

It talks about making her adornment and beauty not merely outward but to be in the inner person of the heart. If we wanted to take this literally we could say women can’t braid their hair because braids are mentioned or she can’t wear jewelry. No one says that though and rightfully so because that’s not what it means but this idea of not being able to wear a two piece bathing suit at the beach or having her whole body covered including her entire stomach that’s ridiculous as in these passages it literally says nothing about the coverage of her body. A bikini isn’t appropriate for the office but it’s fine for the beach. Do you think there’s some rule in scripture that men can be topless showing their six pack and buff muscles but women can’t show their stomachs even at the beach? Same goes both ways. Christian men go shirtless at gyms or beaches. They will purposely show off abs or their arms at the gym. While I understand your point, men do the same thing and imo are worse at times because they act as if it’s not an issue.

You're absolutely right, and I'll take it a step further and say that confusion is a tool of the enemy to cloud our minds from godly wisdom. It's popular in culture to twist standards according to how much you like a person. God doesn't do that though, his standards are consistent, This is why it's more important than ever for Christians to prioritize being led by the Spirit according to the word, not by what people (even well meaning people) tell them is ok. The Spirit is faithful to convict us when we need to make a change. GGB are clearly experiencing conviction and doing their best to live in a way that pleases God. I applaud and support them in this.

Yes, practice modesty. That’s agreed upon. I believe his point is even if you dress modestly as a man or woman, and someone is still struggling with lust towards you, then that is not on the person who is dressing modestly. He’s not saying it’s ok to dress inappropriately or be justified in dressing inappropriately. He’s saying it’s a matter of the person who is struggling with lust and is not taking proper measures to not fall into that sin.

There is a place for modesty and there a place for dealing with lust.... Talking about one doesn't replace the other. Both together are the whole counsel of the Lord on this matter

Trying to be sexy is lustful. Always ask them about their motives and why they are behaving and displaying themselves in a certain way. If it’s to draw attention to themselves or self idolization, then we need to go to god about it, before it grows. I’m not saying we don’t struggle in our flesh/sinful nature, but at least be honest and take accountability and not lie to your followers saying males are the ones to blame for paying attention to you trying to look sexy. If you are constantly looking at the other gender to be your problems, I promise it’s probably your own issue.
