@@joanmjames2495 True, but in a lot of cases in this time period, timing was the reason a lot of these guys won and lost to each other. I forgot the name of the book, but Tim stated that him and Greg had strong issues with Don King, but one was more deep in antagonism with Don, hence the verdict.

@@Belburg Yes, that's definitely true about the timing of things. Didn't know Greg Page had issues with King, but that being said, I don't know of anyone who didn't. Always thought Witherspoon clearly beat Mercer by two or three points in their fight. What do you think? ✌️

He beat nobody except an inactive, old Holmes and a terrified light heavy in Spinks and whenever a fighter actually tried to win he became intimidated, even Tillis was within a round of getting a draw. . . . He did, five years later. Interesting to compare the physical stature of Tyson at 20 (his age when he fought Ratliff) and Witherspoon at 23. Tyson was so much more developed, weighing 221 to TW's 205. Shame Tyson and Witherspoon never fought. Tyson went to No.1 with the WBA after beating Ratliff but TW was already contracted to a rematch with Tony Tubbs. We all know what happened.
