This is day 1 part 3 of working this disrespectful horse behavior. She is big and she tries to push her weight around to get what he wants. In this part I am lunging her to work her for respect and then unsaddle, rinse ns put her back in her stall. See how I correct the pushy and disrespectful behavior. This is part 3 of a 3 part series working this haflinger.

The video made me realize how easy it is for a person to get hurt when they don’t understand a horses body language and the horse is lacking manners. Thank you for sharing this very informative video.

We don't have any trainers like this where I live. Can't find anyone to ride a horse for 30 days anymore, much less a real trainer like this man.

The grooming is the reward. What an intelligent approach. It's easy to mindlessly give a treat. Grooming requires making contact with the horse. Kind of like a hug. Much nicer and it appears, much more effective.

Tim, thank you for all the extra effort it requires to be able to record you working with horses. I think many people don’t realize how much planning and preparation goes into this, even without cameras and recording but especially when there are cameras and equipment, which of course affects the situation & especially the horses.

I've seen many homebred horses w these kinds of problems. The backyard breeder seems to think "being friends" w their horse is more important than safety.

Steady progress there.. She just needs good manners and to learn some patience. I want to find the video of you attempting to mount and the horse moves. Melissa is dealing with Lexon in Idaho moving forward and pushing back isn't working to stand still. Sharing a video might help provide a visual. Don't think you met the horse back when Alan had him but probably know the story. You do great work and Brandy will master manners in your hands. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next episode.

If you saw the video of the clinic did at Allan's, I was on Lexon. He is a nice horse but I don't think his personality and Melissa's personality is a match. I tell people that finding a horse is just like dating, sometimes it's just not a match and it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with either one of you.

@@timandersonhorsetraining Yes, it's obvious and no introduction first didn't bring this to light. I'm glad he is making efforts after some guidance and she didn't give up as once considered. They are both evolving. I can see the break when that training isn't consistent. He needs the regiment to remain focused and stimulated..

Did anyone give you a hard time over tapping her with a whip if she continues to do something potentially dangerous? You are very patient so I know you don’t use it without good reason, but many people don’t correct that way. NO criticism, just not that experienced and am interested to know. I really like how you work with her.

After you get progress, is this exercise something that has to be consistently done to establish the change you want? Is the owner going to have to practice this [lunging etc] often and regularly with this horse for its lifetime to keep it established in her behavior?
@timandersonhorsetraining
@timandersonhorsetraining Жыл бұрын
Think of it as behavior modification. This starts the modified behavior. As long as she shows the desired behavior then nothing has to be done, if undesired behavior comes back then work will need to be done to reestablish the desired behavior.

Never, never hit a horse with a whip. This horse does not trust humans. Why is it always men in videos who treat horses this way? Notice: when a horse shows no affection, they are being assaulted, not trained.

She is not being touched with the whip. The whip creates a crack or whoosh just behind her to get her attention. A trainer I view from UK uses a whiplike stick with feathers or fluffy things on the end for same purpose.
This is a pushy horse on the ground and disrespectful horse behavior.
