Hi, thank you for the excellent, really informative video, you've really helped me come to a decision about which monitor to purchase. As an aside, can you tell me the make and type of gimble/rig you are using please? Cheers

Thanks so much! This was a couple years ago so my rigs have changed vastly since then. In this video I think I was using a GH5S on a Feiyu AK2000 gimbal. These days I'm rocking a FX3 on a Feiyu Scorp Pro gimbal. That being said the DC-80 is still a very solid field monitor and one of the very few on the market that has a built in battery. I still use it from time to time.

Hello, maybe you could help me out. I loaded LUTs on my monitor. but every Lut looks horrible ... somewhat like a fals color image. do you have these problem when usin Luts on this monitor? best greetings from canary islands

Hello Gerald I received my Feel world FW 760 Today now I must practice with it to learn how to operate all the buttons. So far I have not had any luck Viewing the cameras menu through that monitor. But perhaps there's some setting in the camera than not setting right I'm not sure yet. I set the camera to HDMI out I then closed the lens Hood of the camera And flipped open the viewfinder on the camera which displays the menu. But for some reason I have not been able to see the menu on the monitor yet. I must keep playing with it perhaps I'll get lucky. Keith Kuhn

There is no speaker on the monitor it is a heat dissipation hole so the monitor does not overheat

can anyone point me in the right direction to be able to load luts on this. there is no card reader.

Sure thing. Just plug the monitor into your computer with the included mini-USB cable. Monitor should show up as a drive and you can copy your luts over to it.

Hello Gerald I just subscribed and hit the Bell. I have a question about this monitor please. For example when you're looking at the peaking that you brought up on a monitor. Say for example you want to make an adjustment to your camera settings. If you go into your camera settings will you be able to see that on that monitor your adjustments that you've made ? In other words will you be able to see the cameras menu on that monitor ? Thanks. Keith

Hey Keith! It will depend on your camera. Meaning if your camera supports outputting the menus via the HDMI port, which a majority do, then you will be able to see it on the monitor, no problem.

@@KTHKUHNKK I did a quick look and yes you should be able to see your menus on the monitor with that camera if what I read is correct.

@@GeraldBertramPhotography Thanks buddy I've been looking and looking and looking also. Like you say I'm under the impression it will be able to do that. I'm 71 years old and I just can't see that small little viewfinder that opens up anymore I have what they call macular degeneration. Hello.. quick question are you able to power the monitor via usb? Or charge? From a Vmount battery perhaps? I havnt really had much luck finding this out... thanks for the review💪

Thanks for the kind words! So the USB port on it is just for firmware updates or loading LUTs. Yes you can power this from something like a v-mount battery with a DTAP cable to DC jack. What I am currently looking into is if you can power the monitor from a USB power bank that has PD (Power Delivery) along with a USB-C to 12v cord. I think this may work and I'll be sure to let you know my findings!

@@exsrramos8817 Just finished my testing. I got a USB-C to 12v cable and plugged the USB-C end into my PD power bank and then the 12v 2.5mm end into the field monitor and worked perfectly. There may be cheaper cables but the one I used was from Blind Spot. If you are interested the part number for that cable is BSG-1302-023-01

@@GeraldBertramPhotography I did this too with a 12v step up USB from 5v to 12v via my 5a 20,000mAh external battery. WORKS GREAT HOWEVER, you must take off the back plate and remove the internal (frankly shit) battery. Running 12v off a step up from a 5v power source can in-large and will cause serve battery damage. Also the heat it produces will degrade the life of the monitor so take that battery out. I did that with mine and it works like a charm! Timbrecod is a terrible company and they do not answer customer emails/calls however there are hacks that make this monitor worth it for budget filmmakers. If you are a professional filmmaker then stay clear FAR FAR away from Timbrecod (trust me). If you are on a budget then buy this along with an external battery bank and 12v step up. Follow my instructions and you will be good to go.

@@Carboxylated Actually I used a PD power bank which can deliver 12v/3a as well as 15v/3a and 20v/5a via USB-C port. Wouldn't that avoid the issue you are talking about? I assumed because PD negotiates the proper power there is no "step up" going on.
