Time ATAC Pedal Ceramic Bearing Install

Rebuilding a pair of Time ATAC Titan Carbon pedals and using a full ceramic bearing as a replacement for the traditional steel one. Boca Bearing Company is where I got the bearings. My particular part was #BRK-021FCZ-PB5 but it's Time specific You'll need to measure your bearing or contact them if different pedal.

Thanks for the video...very helpful. By the way, I didn't have snap ring pliers and didn't want to buy a special tool so I took the spring from one side of a large binder clip and bend the ends to face the same direction. Not ideal but it was cheap and got the job done.

If you're noticing play in the axle try tightening the end cap.

I agree dual bearing would be nice but probably overkill for most applications. If I remember correctly the bushings can be removed but are very difficult. Mine seemed very smooth so I just did the bearings only.

Thanks for the comments. Bach relaxes me... a bit different than when I'm riding, then it's Linkin Park or, something a but harder :)

Great vid, just a quick FYI. some time atac pedals use 10mm nuts instead of the 3/8in

Hi, The bearing doesn't seat on the spindle per se, it seats against a lip inside the pedal body. And yes, it is fully seated. There has always been lateral play even when new... so who knows it hasn't affected performance.

The play is gone when you tighten the black plug. :) That is how this construction works.

How about replacing the arch and/or springs? I can't seem to find information to do so with these newer ATAcs. Thanks.

I am following these instructions for my MX4 pedals, everything appears to be the same, however I am finding it very difficult to knock the spindle free and I don't want to force it too much - am I missing something? Also, can you post a link to where the bearings were sourced from?

+ran yehushua Sometimes it takes great force to get that spindle out. I got the bearings from Boca Bearings.com

$160 for a pair of ceramic bearings! they don’t last long -l’ll pass you can buy a new pair of time atac xc8 pedals for that price.

The lateral play is not supposed to be there, but there is not anything wrong with his pedals the end cap gets rid of the play when it is fully tightened. The end cap is more than just a dust seal it holds the pedal in place on the spindle.

This is incorrect. The end cap does nothing. The play is caused by a worn bushing in the pedal body that needs replacement.

@@9July9ford its a UHDP machined plastic insert, and I had a hell of a time finding any replacement parts for TIME, but eventually I was able to find a seller on EBAY. My understanding is the ownership of time has recently changed (SRAM bought them) so you should have a much easier time getting replacement parts in the future.

hello I have your own pedals and they don't flow very well and they don't even do that axial game that your own do and specify that they have to do it. Maybe they are too tight? that they have never been disassembled they left the factory with little sliding in this way you have a solution to recommend me?

ciao ho i tuoi stessi pedali e non scorrono benissimo e non fanno nemmeno quel gioco assiale che fanno i tuoi. Forse sono troppo stretti? Consiera che non sono mai stati smontati sono usciti dalla fabbrica poco scorrevoli in questo modo hai una soluzione da consigliarmi?

+dont be average You can go to Boca Bearing website. I'm pretty sure the part number is #BRK-021FCZ-PB5 check to be sure though. This should work for most Time ATAC pedals. Another way is take your old bearing out and measure it with a micrometer.
