Hi there, Dale here with Open Road Outfitters. In this video, I'm demonstrating the setup of the Time Out Deluxe motorcycle camper.
The Deluxe is largest tent camper in the Time Out line, which includes the Easy Camper and the original Time Out. It is suitable for towing by larger motorcycles and trikes. It can also be easily towed by any four-wheel vehicle. In fact, any of the lighweight campers I sell are perfect for small cars with a limited towing capacity like the SmartCar or Prius.
After setting the jackstands and putting the lid supports in place, the top opens into what will become the sitting area. As you can see in this demonstration, one person can handle the setup with relative ease. If two people were doing this setup, it would go even faster.
Now I'm opening up the queen size bed area. The bed area is rated for up to 1000 lbs of weight. The sitting area can handle up to 2,000 lbs.
This camper offers the most covered off-the-ground space of any lightweight tent trailer. You can also add to that covered area with accessories like the l-shaped awning or a massive screen room.
Let me get this stuff out of the way. There's 23 cubic feet of cargo space inside the camper which is plenty for gear for two. I like to bring along my bicycle sometimes, and I can mount that easily on the hard top.
Okay, let's set up the canvas and we'll be just about done. The tent material is a heavy nylon tent fabric that easily withstands harsh weather. I've camped in some pretty windy conditions and have always felt secure. If you wish, you can treat the fabric with something like Scotchguard or Starbrite to add to its ability to shed water.
After I spread out the canvas, I'll secure it at the corners. I do that so when I raise the poles inside the tent will open up.
By the way, you can see that I have the optional table tripod on the base of the table. That lets me use the table outside of the camper. It's a handy option.
After securing the corners, I've stepped inside to raise the three telescoping poles. At this point, you are out of the weather, so if rain were imminent, you'd be high and dry.
You could always finish these last attachments later, if the weather isn't cooperating. But since it's a nice afternoon, I'll walk around the perimeter and finish buttoning it up. I have camped in some seriously mosquito infested areas. The Ohio river in August is one such place. This camper does a great job of keeping them out.
A few final snaps up front, and I'm done. I'll just step inside to open up the windows to air out the camper and let in some light. You can see the optional air conditioning port to the right and a zipper for cooler access on the left.
