About once a month I see someone from The Offspring bemoaning the fact that this franchise isn't going anymore. I gotta agree with them

Came for The Offspring, was not disappointed.

Video claimed by, Pizza Hut, KFC, Offspring, Tower Records (if they’re still a thing), Sega (they need the money), taxis, EA (for just mentioning their name), Nintendo (because they like claiming videos, it’s like a hobby for them), and so many more.

You can absolutely hire Crazy Uber. There have been many court cases caused by people accidentially recieving Crazy Uber instead of the nice, normal Uber that they thought they'd engaged.

I had this on Gamecube growing up and it heavily influence my tastes in green hair and music.

Man, I miss Crazy Taxi, it's a 90's time capsule, oh yeah, knew about the underwater for years, yet baffled it was one of the only games that allowed you to do so.

I have the arcade machine in my warehouse, it still rocks.

I was JUST talking to someone about this game! I had this on Dreamcast, and I was saying how in rereleases they didn’t have the best damn song in the game, All I want by The Offspring.

I was ready to be pissed he played the Dreamcast version without the music but Matt knows what's up!

I loved that the original arcade cabinet included subwoofer that was on display in addition to the normal speakers. "We payed a lot of money for this licensed music from these big name bands. No way are we gonna shit it up with tiny baby speakers for children"

Playing this in the arcades and later on the dreamcast was fucking amazing.Yea it felt like a demo but the gameplay was insane and addicting.The dreamcast was an arcade console.House of the Dead 2,Crazy Taxi,Marvel vs Capcom 2.Just insane.

I did play this on Dreamcast and played it ALOT. Watching this.. the strats are still fresh in my mind. Power slide into all destinations, cut through the multi-storey, what routes to take.

I love this game so much. I remember back in 2001 when my friends and I used to take turns every time we failed in Crazy Box. Same goes for Crazy Taxi 2 with the Big Apple.

Always had to play crazy taxi at the arcade, me my mom and brother would always try to see who could get the best rating... Good times...

I loved playing this game back in the day! That soundtrack was the bomb. It's right up there with stuff from Tony Hawk games.

back then I use to always confuse axel with Zoro from one piece because of the green hair only defense is one is a badass dual wielding swordsman/samurai and the other is a CRAZY freaking taxi driver with a better sense of direction.

When i was a kid we went to the jersey shore with my grandmom and my uncle's family. We got hit by a freak thunderstorm that lasted 3 days so we couldn't go to the beach but the motel had a built in diner with a Crazy Taxi machine so me and my cousin spent 3 days just taking turns playing Crazy Taxi. Had a blast. Lots of good memories with the arcade version

This is the only port that I really want on Switch. Also, if they made a new Crazy Taxi on modern platforms, it would be super cool if you could sync something like Spotify to it and listen to whatever you want while you play.

Its weird that I didn't get into this game until College in the early 2000s... Because both Bad Religion's "The Gray Race", and Offsprings "Ixnay on the Hombre" albums came out '96/97... and they are the soundtrack for this game. Although, I remember there's a mode where you can unlock the credits in this game, which Bad Religion's "Inner Logic" plays which is from "Stranger than Fiction"

Crazy Taxi was my favorite arcade game as a kid. There was 1 pizza place in my town that had it and I always had to beg my parents for 2 quarters to play it

Matt got me thinking and I really can't personally remember too many 2D arcade games from Sega EXCEPT for the various Shinobi games and an Ikari Warriors tipoff named Gain Ground. When Sega wasn't doing polygons they were doing that forced perspective stuff like Outrun.

I wasn’t a big arcade kid growing up(Nathan’s Hotdogs was the closest thing to a real arcade by me) so Crazy Taxi was always more synonymous with Dreamcast to me. If you owned a Dreamcast your friends made sure you had Crazy Taxi.

FYI, there's a few little techniques to learn to level up at this. I haven't played it in ages, so this might not be 100% accurate, but you can dash if you let off the throttle for a sec and then quickly tap gear shift up, and then quickly back on throttle. You'll see the cab jerk forward and hear the engine whine. That's when you know you've got it right. There's a few more little things like this you need to know to break the high scores. I think there's another, faster dash where you shift down and then up. I think there's a couple of braking things, too, but one is too difficult and risky for me. It's a good idea to drift sideways into poles when you stop. You stop dead and you can point your car where you want to go next.

I remember my mate getting this on PS2 and we took the disc out without turning the console off. Entire city disappeared. Can't remember if there was collision detection still or not, but all peds and cars were just floating in a blue sky box

Ahhhh!! The best time attack game ever made. IMO... BEST ARCADE GAME EVER MADE. No score based game ever put as much joy in my late 90s kid heart than this... they need another one. Now excuse me... im going to listen to some The Offspring.

ABSOLUTELY WAS AN ARCADE VERSION!!! ME and my buddy in high-school used to break the shit out of that game at our local game works, used play for hours off 1 credit, God i feel old now I was happy and then made myself sad

I remember playing Crazy Taxi 3 on Xbox as a kid as well as having played 1 on PS2. 3 had the main "arcade" city from 1, the main(?) city from 2 that was like New York, and the new Las Vegas city. Aside from being stuck on an Xbox or being a early 00s PC port I'm not sure if it has many drawbacks compared to 1, but I'm not a Crazy Taxi historian.

I remember the sunday bar, Matt. 90s Pizza Hut is one of those things where you couldn't really understand how magical it was unless you had lived with and been a part of it.

I love this game so much. I have the Dreamcast version too. As well as the sequel. I have a poster for the game on my wall that I've had for almost 20 years I got from the back room at work when our store closed in 2002. It has Axel on it with the cute redhead with the pom-pom pigtails in the back seat. It says "The smash arcade hit is now on Sega Dreamcast!" I wish I had an arcade cabinet. I'd sit down in it and play it every day. I had the iOS version years ago. Sucks that they had to remove the music and product placement from all the ports. That's why I'm glad I own it on a disc that can't be updated to remove stuff.

This arcade took so much of my time/quarters back in the early 2000s my dad has to buy me a copy for Dreamcast. Also big ups for keeping the music

The 90's Hut also gave kids free personal pan pizzas for reading AND the one we went to had the classic X-Men side scroller cabinet.

There is a hiding spot on the Dreamcast version at the beginning on the right hand side after the jump. If you take a female passenger into the bushes at the right angle you make mad money and she is going crazy. Funny thing is my wife found it when we had a bet. That damn spot alone was over $3,000 and I lost the bet.

I remember playing this when I was a little girl on the PS2, didn't even realize that it ever was on the Dreamcast. I loved the PS2 port, so maybe I should scroll through my Dreamcast ROMs, see if it's there. Thank you.

I played the hell out of the Gamecube version and it was a great port with all the music included. The PC port that's available on Steam is a huge letdown in comparison. The trick to getting a high score is to just take all the green or teal colored passengers while also doing as many Crazy Throughs as possible. What usually screws over runs at high levels of Arcade play is not being able to find a decent passenger before your time runs out after you've dropped somebody off.

The Simpsons hit and run lawsuit was mostly because sega has/had a copyright on using a big floating arrow to tell you were to go.

I remember I had this game for the PS2, though, I don’t know if it was a demo of a companion piece to another game....it’s been a loooooong time. It’s a shame I don’t have it any more Bc it was lots of fun from what I played, and I also love the style, look, and feel of the game with the bombass music and high speed kinetic energy.
