I had a Timex watch very much like this many, many years ago, and when I see this, I get a nostalgic desire to have one again. Then I see the price, and think about the quality, and start to doubt. I have one completely manual wind watch in my collection, and I love it. It's an Orient Monarch Classic, with a power reserve and no date.

This watch is quite reminiscent of my Unicorn watch my dad gave me back in the late 60’s, early 70’s. I actually managed to buy a near mint version of the same watch about 2 years ago, long after my late father had given mine, with my consent to a down & out uncle. Lovely looking reissue. I did look at this model some 12 months or so ago, but having my Unicorn, I passed. I agree though with your thoughts on a metal movement keeper internally & a display back Rob!😎👍🏼
