Few people on this planet have had a life like Tina Turner. There’s been books, documentaries, and even a movie about it. But only Tina can tell the real truth and how she became this bigger-than-life icon. Back in 1996, while promoting the gigantic Wildest Dreams Tour, Tina did a lot of interviews including this in-depth one called “Tina Turner: In her own words” broadcasted on Radio 2. It is more likely a longer interview Tina did with Kurt Loder, parts of it could be found in ‘The Girl From Nutbush’. But still lots of unheard before stuff: going through a lot of topics like childhood, her children, fame, and much more, Tina opens herself and tells it like it is! Enjoy!

I hate that she had to keep explaining her past. This woman’s talent was just superior and that is what I have always personally focused on. I was introduced to her as a solo artist and that is how I experienced and will remember her. I still can’t believe that she sang and danced on stage simultaneously in stilettos at full throttle until almost 70 years old! Rest easy Icon, Legend and Diva Extraordinaire! 👑🎤

I saw her in the 80's. In Little Odessa TX. At the beginning of her concert and what's Love Got to Do with It she was phenomenal. Not to gloat . I saw in an interview. No Matter What she wanted to make ppl feel good 😊. Thank you Tina for your Talent. Class. Womanhood. RIP.

The first live concert my daughter went to was Tina Turner. She and I went together and had a blast! It was the last day of graduate school for me and she went to class with me and we left and went to the concert. She was 14. She’s now 40. ❤🌹🙏🏽🍷

Tina Turner embodies all things female to me. She has “arrived” intact after so many difficulties and she is a fascinating finished product of having survived travel on a very rough road. She is talented beyond belief. She is beautiful. She exudes female sexiness. And, as others have mentioned, I so regret never having seen her in person. What an entertainer 💝👌

I know that she didn't want to talk about her past but it will help so many people hear her story. She had a rough beginning but she persevered through it all and came out on top. The second part of her life was the best. Tina Turner was/is simply the best.

I saw her when I was 16 at the state fsir. Where I was standing was right in her view. I waved at her and she waved back. I will never forget that. I loved her before that, but after that she was always my girl.

I saw her five times and her performance has always been like the eruption of a volcano. I saw many concerts of very great stars but there's no one compared to TT. She is simply the best.

# Regina Lahab - like me, yes…?!? That's our best investment we could make the last 60 years...! Yes that's right - Tina was mostly on tour, 🥜 not so often at home - only the last 15 years in her new and elegant home in the Swiss at the Zuerich lake! I met Tina in Prag 1996 in middle football stadium!

Nice! Confident woman. Tina should have been a motivational speaker.. when I am low I listen to her and she literally lifts me up, her story and her words alone. And Tina you are very correct. There is something so magical about being a little black girl who comes from picking cotton and lived with a big bad wolf who didn't give a damn whether you lived or died, & kissing many frogs along the way. Yet you ended up in France and Switzerland with a German Prince that loves you so much he'll give you a kidney. Anything is Possible people

Everything you said was accurate except the "picking cotton" part, which is something that Tina never did.

@Regina Lahab 🤔 She says in several interviews that she picked cotton. She said she was upset she couldn't pack the cotton down in her bag like the adults could. She wasn't good at it. She said she didn't like it because of the sun and the worms. 🤷🏻♀️

My daughter lives in Norway and called to tell me she saw Tina in Oslo, I said lucky me I saw her in St. Louis/ she is coming home for a visit we always do something- we will be going to Nuttbush Tenn to pay our respect to “ The Best”

As a young singer and dancer in my brothers band...there were always abusive male pretatores nearby.i have experience the dangers numerous times. Having to go out the backdoor. Never able to trust anyone anymore😢she was awesome and in a bad abusive relation.thank God she found Erwin❤

Just shows you cant keep a good woman down. Like tried, but went down himself in flames. Tina rose and Bach, gave her selfless love. When you give away your kidney. Endangering yourself in future should something happen to you. That's selfless love. He gave all, love, heart and organs to extend both their lives in happiness. Go Bach. You the man forever. Tina is a great example of quid pro quo she gave up 18 years to Ike in order to be a star just too bad they weren't living by the rooms of the 2000s where they could just say what they were a platonic team, not husband and wife, and still be Stars

I don't know why Tina speaks of Ike with such respect after the way he treated her, like what he made her do with the microphone ( simulate oral sex with it ) during their song " I'm forever loving you ". DEGRADATION & HUMILIATION in front of a live audience I would say. I watched one of the clips and couldn't believe it. The footage of Ike showed he was clearly getting a kick out of it too... Tina said he made her do it - or else she would cop a beating afterwards which is totally believable because he did beat her when not happy when she didn't " perform " how he liked.

Tina said she left Ike and returned on her own. That means she could have left him anytime she wanted, but she chose to stay with Ike until she was tired of that lifestyle.

Domestic violance can make that difficult, she was scared to death. I mean to she also stated that she was very afraid and also tried to leave but her mother send her back. @@rhartog5796 Tina knew Ike's character very well. She was close friends with Ike years before she accepted to marry him. She used to sleep in his bed before they became intimate and she would pick out women for him to sleep with. Tina knew Ike was her vehicle to get out of St. Louis and to achieve stardom. Tina said she would have been lost without Ike in those early years. so they benefited from each other. Ike wasn't always the aggressor, Tina was aggressive herself and had a bad temper. She admitted that she hit her sons. People have talked about her being rude too. Look up the video Tina Turner vs Judge Joe Brown. He claims Tina was violent.

Abuse is not only physical but mental, spiritual, psychological...I feel that the world would've never known Anna Mae Bullock or she may have never achieved the success she had. Success often comes with heavy prices to pay. Ike&Tina were a force together musically but domestically a ticking time bomb waiting to explode! Even if the movie imbellished the physical there's no denial on either side it was toxic. Then there's the fact Tina couldn't think,do or anything without Ike's approval, not even allowed an allowance for fear she would run away. That's mental and psychological abuse issues. Ike&Tina Turner is what we would call today "a power couple "
