Her articulation being interviewed is a breath of fresh air 😍a lot of ppl say she picked up a European accent due to leaving US but if you listen to her even earlier in her Career, she has a distinctive speaking voice. It's just the same as if you went to live in the south often times you pick up a country twang in my opinion 🤔

How she went on stage with an abusive husband? She explains it well in that it's a job you have to keep and you just do whatever it takes to keep the job till one day you quit. I think, she did it and drew strength to provide a great performance for her FANs. She has always been about her fans. That's why her solo comeback was lasting, more explosive, a mega success that she could retire on her terms.

@@colleenvozella4401, African Americans have completely different hair than any other race, except other Africans. My mom is a Nurse who worked at the Children's Hospital in Oakland CA. During her orientation they spent 2 days explaining how to care for their hair and skin. It is possible to copy their hair, but, depending on the type of hair u have, u might regret it. My mom has fine dirty blonde hair. She told me she got "corn rows" once, and, it took hours to undo them, to prevent extreme tangling. It can end up with having to cut the hair. It can cause a "rats nest" situation. Their hair is tightly curled with thick single hairs. With today's mousse, gels, oils, and straighteners, high heat blow dryers, it's likely easier to have their hair styles. Although fine hair will still need cutting or hours of attention to remove "corn rows". Tina also used wigs. It's amazing that during her high energy performances, that any wig or extensions never came off. When their hair gets wet it will totally mess up their hair. My mom still considers Oakland CA to be her favorite city. She also likes Danbury, CT, where she grew up. She told me that babies with the longest hair at birth are from Latin America. Two inches usually!

Oh Tina Turner, as I watched this video, I started to cry. When you said that the public only expect's, Beautiful People to preform... And that you were just the opposite of that, then you said that you were nothing but a Raunchy Rock Star... And Lady I have never thought of you, being anything but a very Beautiful, and Brave, and Strong also.. So Please Miss Tina, you need to apologize to yourself, and your fan's for thinking so little of yourself!! And remember how many of your fans, idolized you for those very qualities!! And many of us women learned from you, that we could get out of an abusive relationship!! And still survive for a better life, Thank You Tina Turner, for being a very Beautiful, and Fabulously Stunning... ROCK STAR LOVE Genava...

@@songsalon7868, Women are cruel to one another. Not surprised that your mom & sister felt that way. Jealousy is a driver of this. How they are brought up contributes to this too. Its a big part of her story. She doesn't seem to mind it because as she says her practice has allowed her to think differently about it. That it was a passage and had to happen so to speak . A life lesson to get her to become the person she is today. She sees herself as a survivor now and its because of that story.

@@tasibho that is not what she said in her recent documentary. She did not like the endless questions about the abusive relationship with Ike. She wrote the book I Tina thinking it would put a stop to all the questions, but it did not. Yes, the journey she had, the good and the bad, did help to make her the person she is today, a survivor and an inspiration to others who have gone through it or are going through it. However, she did not like having to re-live the pain every time a dumb ass reporter interviewed her and had to bring it up.

Im so happy someone finally said it, once you read the book and really understand what all Ike did to her, it is hard to watch them together because you feel a sadness like "did he hit her before the show" or man "i wonder if he would be on stage infuritated about what she innocently said or did and hit her after the show". @spanishharlem

Whitney was the total opposite of the image Clive created for her and she became a prisoner of that image. I believe she could have been just as successful had she been allowed to be herself. Whats funny is Whitney was considered to play Tina in the biopic. Whitney and Robyn Givens were frontrunners for the role but Whitney was pregnant (and not right for the role). As far as a mentor I think Tina would have been a great mentor but Whitney was already an addict by the time she became a star. Its sad how her story ended she was such a gifted talent and beauty.
@haysfordays

@@spanishharlem I enjoy and appreciate your reply here. It's funny, I've just scratched the surface with my "research" but I feel I still don;t have a strong sense of who Whitney was. She seemed to have many different periods. She even sang differently during them. I think her first 5 years were pure fire. If I just had that I think I would be ok. Had no idea she was up to play Tina. That wouldn't have been the best casting at all, right? I can't think of anyone better than Bassett, although I'm sure there were other folks out there whom I never heard of. No one I've seen playing Whitney has really knocked me out. Not bad, but not her. It's just really hard to truly "be" these people.
@spanishharlem
@spanishharlem Жыл бұрын
@@haysfordays When Tina's movie was originally being cast they wanted a big name to ensure the movie's success. Whitney's Bodyguard did amazing numbers and that is why they wanted her. From what I understand Whitney didn't even have to audition if she wanted the role they were giving it to her. She was pregnant and passed on it. Angela didn't have name recognition, but she was one of the few actresses who auditioned who could dance and act. She ended up being the best for the role. As far as who Whitney was as a person she basically was an around the way girl from Jersey who was raised in the church and went to an all girls Catholic high school. She was a rebel, and her extraordinary beauty had her gracing the covers of magazines as a model when she was still a Junior in high school. The reason Whitney and Bobby hit it off so hard is that Bobby allowed her to be herself. She was smart, sophisticated, and classy when she needed to be but the real her was laid back and loved to cuss and smoke cigarettes LOL. Bobby and Whitney were more alike than people like to admit. Eddie Murphy dated her because he was infatuated with her image but once he saw the real Whitney was a chain-smoking cursing sailor who loved to party (Eddie didn't drink or smoke) he lost interest very quickly. Chronic drug use alters your personality greatly and yes Whitney has different eras. I personally think she was at her professional and physical peak during 1992-1995. She was never more beautiful than that era. She was also more relatable and not the pop Princess Clive manufactured early on. Whitney's demise was sad the drugs totally took control of her by the late 90s and the rest is history. Whitney was once the highest paid actress in the world (of any color) when she got 10 million for The Preacher's Wife. She opened a lot of doors for women entertainers of all colors, but especially black women.

@@spanishharlem i still think that a famous accomplished artist like Whitney was, would be a silly choice to portray another famous accomplished artist like Tina. It’s like having Michael Jackson play Elvis. It’s just ridiculous. She actually had no Indian ancestry. There's a show on PBS hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. where he researches the ancestry of celebs. Her mother always told her she had Indian ancestry (which is a common, but untrue claim in African-American culture). But in reality, she had no Native American ancestry at all.

I appreciate that Tina views herself as a performer and makes note of the fact she’s not so much a producer. That’s respectable honesty and humility. She’s great, but someone who writes their own material is a large contributor to my opinion that they are legendary. I was surprised to discover that Tina didn’t, because her performances are so invested in the music that I believed they could only be of her own. It’s somewhat disappointing to me to know she didn’t create the material she is known for, but she sure had it as a performer.

Don't discredit a performer. Imagine someone else doing those songs wouldn't work in my humble opinion. The performer creates the song just as much as the original creater.

@@michaelmitchell2143 agree. She certainly did "produce" her shows, though. She designed her stage, chose costumes and choreographed her dances. Nutbush is her song and in one interview she talked about that being the only song she wrote and hoped to start writing more. She was a precious soul and is already sadly missed❤

Your comment is doing just the contrary to what you are being so critical about. I love people no matter their color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, etc. With all the UGLY going on in this world, people loosing loved one, try UPLIFTING others- even especially strangers. For the two replies do y'all apy that same logic to Ike? Bc he was there and he walked in the shoes but his recollection of events have always been different and included specific examples as to how. Three sides to every story but the world unilaterally only wants to believe her side. However, if you look at Tina's history and remove Ike as a villain you see that she has a history of using every man she has come across and discarding them, her sons included. There are parts we do not know and I wager that as she inches closer to death she will attempt to sway the Ike narrative back to what it should be, his musical genius...bc all she wanted was the victimhood; I doubt she thought she would truly destroy Ike's image forever.
