Today we'll build a tiny cyberdeck from plywood sheets using the Atomstack X30 Pro. This is Atomstack's new flagship gantry-style laser cutting and engraving machine with a powerful 6-core, 33W laser module. The Cyberdeck uses a Raspberry Pi and Hyperpixel 4 display along with a repurposed Blackberry keyboard and trackpad.

Very cool. If you added a LiPo pouch battery under the keyboard (with a deeper enclosure) it may balance the weight of the screen better - and make it completely portable.

Yes, I think some form of battery pack to make it truely portable would be a great addition

Build a box under the honeycomb thing..then run a vaccum/shopvac into that enclosure...it will pull the smoke down into it then outside...instead of it just blowing it around your shop Cool upgrade and it does well! Keep em coming!!!!
@MichaelKlements
@MichaelKlements Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion Hayden. This works if you're cutting all the way through the material in a single pass but for thicker materials that require multiple passes, the smoke doesn't make it to the bottom until the laser breaks through.
@haydenc2742
@haydenc2742 Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelKlements It still should create an airflow that will pull the smoke down and out...But yeah, if not cutting thru it blows smoke all over huh

I likes it. Only change I'd recommend is some stain for the wood to add character and warmth.

Everything you make is awesome. If you wanted to tweak this, I’d add some sort of led rgb lightening around the bezels (for night time recon missions) and a lithium battery to make it truly portable. Oh, and there’s always room for a camera...somewhere 😅👋

For a more seamless design, you can use the USB C (USB 2.0 on he broadcom processor) input on the pi for the keyboard, and power it from the gpio header :)

Maybe make the bottom thicker and add a battery for that portable use. Then the power can plug in the bottom half and still use as desktop.

the hyperpixel requires spi and i2c pins so i could not use it with my project that required dedicated and exclusive spi and i2c. i too have the square version lying around for over a year. my other rectangular one is on the rpi 400.
@MichaelKlements
@MichaelKlements Жыл бұрын
You should still be able to use I2C devices with the Hyperpixel display, but yes it uses all of the GPIO pins so you'll lose the SPI interface as well.

@@MichaelKlements Honestly whats not good hmm: Long list of bad stuff is coming so read it. 1: The strucker itself is bad and how all cables etc are blocking etc! 2: No software to use the Laser and they have is like for kids! No advanced options etc! 3: if you remove the sd card during print it stops! 4: Hard to find the starting spots!! specially small objects etc! i wont recommend to pros! 5: cant even cut in one pass the 4 mm !!! i have tried many times in full power!! 6: Super noisy! 7: lowering the laser to right level etc !! ill do video of this soon so be tuned bro. your videos are great but not the product bro!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it, it's always good to get someone elses perspective on what issues they have run into. I agree that the cable management on the X30 (and other Atomstack models) could definitely be improved. The other issues you've listed are common to all of these style machines, do you have a brand/model that you use that you think does a better job? In my experience, no-one likes the software bundled with any brand's machines - which is why software like Lightburn has become so popular.
