I did it, and it works pretty good! Thanks for the tip guys. The tubes were just about $2.50. People without glasses couldn't imagine how they limit and cause annoyance during activities. I just moved apartments and carrying boxes using both hands means your glasses slip down and there was nothing I could do. Everyday activities and working are slower when you have to push your glasses up ever 2 minutes to be able to see.

Or, you can get a hairdryer and heat the arms of the glasses to be pliable enough to slowly bend them to the shape you wish, and when they are snug against your ears, they won't slide down.

Sunglasses counters at major department stores usually have a machine that heats the arms and bends them inward to re-tighten the fit.
@IllxllI
@IllxllI 8 жыл бұрын
You can fix this by just bending the arms actually. Some plastic arms may bend, others may not, so just check to see if yours are bendable. If they're slipping, you bend the arms more downward which sticks better on to your ears/head. Won't slide as much now.

I actually fixed a pair of aviators using this stuff. I had left my shades in the car and the plastic bits, that go over your ear, became brittle and broke. So I put heat shrink over them, with a little glue, and they're fixed.

Use a normal-sized rubber band for each side. It has the same effect for something that is cheaper and way easier to find. just try not to break the rubber band. you can adjust the position of the rubber band way more easily as well.

You can easily shrink the tubing by quickly moving the flame of a lighter or match under it. I do it all the time when using heat shrink tubing for electronics too and am too lazy to pull out the heat gun. The heat from a soldering iron also works, but not suggested for glasses just in case you accidentally touch the glasses with the hot soldering iron tip.

I make tips from oxygen cannula nose pieces that work very well for me. I cut them right between the nostril protusions and far enough back to get a tight fit over the ear pieces of the glasses. Then slip them on your ear pieces with the nostril protrusions pointing down. If you know someone using an oxygen concentrator just have them save their old cannula for you, the super soft cannula are best.

You could probably just tape or glue some little foam pieces on the part by your nose if you don’t have those nosepads that stick out. Or if you want something that can be removed, you could wrap hair ties around the elbow/ arm part of the glasses

i got mine from home depot, after a few months of using it i recommend being generous on the tube and cover most of the arm after the bend, i find it a little less irritating on the ears if the tubes are extended over the arms so its not sitting on your ear when you put it on, so it extends over your ears

You can get the same assorted sizes pack he did in the video (if you're not sure what size you need) at Ace Hardware and they will cut the tubing and heat-shrink it on using their heat gun for free. They did it with my glasses and also on my DE shaver for extra grip. And if you don't have an Ace Hardware near you, I guarantee Home Depot or Menards will do the same for free. It takes less than five minutes to find what you need and have them heat-shrink it on. No brainer...

Why don't you just stop into an optical shop and get your glasses adjusted? Plastic frames like yours will always loosen up over time and slip due to your body heat/sweat. I've been working in optics for a long time, and while your trick sounds great, it probably won't solve your problem completely. Oakley frames that have this heat shrink tubing don't bend around your ears, but apply pressure to the side of your head, and that is why the tubing works. Most frames, plastic or metal, need to b
