We were exactly the same over 25 years ago when the muck was too wet, we used to shout "SOUP'S HERE", constantly testing the labourers patience. Certainly got through a few.

when i started my apprenticeship i was used as a labourer and wasnt learning anything. i told the bricklayer that if i wasnt getting on the line i wasnt doing any more labouring on him .then i told him that if i wasnt being trained as a bricklayer i would be reporting him to the CITB. he went balistic , but then realised that i meant what i said. came to an agreement that i would be laying bricks more. sometimes you got to stand up.

Just be careful there at 13:00 minutes Charlie. I know you know what you're doing and I'm not telling you how to do you're job, but the site I'm on atm the NHBC wouldn't accept block on block . They'd make me take that down and half bond the top course with the course under the coursing block. Not sure if its the same everywhere but its a pain when someone pulls you on something like that.

Hello,im 16 and in college doing a 2 year diploma in Brickwork, we was told not to hit our level because it makes it go off centre or something but i seen you hit your level in the video, is it just because the college don’t want us damaging their equipment or is there a real reason?
@shifty277

Try not to hit it with the trowel end of the level the head being plastic or wood isn't as bad... Brickys should check their level once a year imo with an on site level checker...
@140rware
@140rware Жыл бұрын
It used to be a thing not to hit the level but they are tougher and more disposable than the were. It is important not to hit the level because they are teaching you good practice. When you are good, you can decide if you hit the level or not but until then, you can see what mistakes you make and lay a better bed. If you are hitting any brick or level, you have laid to much bed. You’ll get there 👍🏻
