Dr Dave has videos on this showing softer tips don't create more spin. And Shane van Boeing loves using a hard tip. I think he switched back to a medium though. I went from a soft to a medium and I can draw just as much with it. I might step up to a medium-hard next time.

Thanks for the information Chris. What’s your preference on tip choice?

Personally I prefer a medium solid layer triangle over all the other choices out there but everyone is different.

@@CuemakersGuildEnjoying the videos! I do not recall you discussing layered versus solid tips. You state above you prefer the solid tip, but would be curious to hear your thoughts regarding layered tips. I have only heard the top pros today use layered tips (yes, I know those guys are sponsored).

Noticed a moth zooming in front of your camera a few times. I also have a moth that's always photo-bombing my videos. I share your pain.

Another great video. I use a Zan medium/hard hybrid tip. I’m assuming they make this by compressing the outside of the tip more than the middle of the tip. You mentioned the oil in the tip. If I buy a box of tips, will the oil evaporate from the last tip in the box before I use it? I guess at $30/tip on Amazon I’ll be switching to another brand. When I first started using them in 2020 they only cost about $20/tip as I remember. Since I’m relearning everything after not playing regularly for 50 years switching tips again won’t be a big deal. I would like to know if there’s any problems with single piece tips on the Revo’s? I have change my own Revo tips with no problems. Actually, I had the Victory tip and cushion pop off and roll down into the bar box shortly after I got my Revo shaft. Since then I’ve changed my own tips with no problems.

Thank you for your question. Yes, the tip will dry out over time in the box if not used soon enough. I do not see an issue with single layer tips on a Revo shaft at all.

Second comment some billiard supply places like my local one suggest not to use a hard tip on there own carbon fiber shafts
@CuemakersGuild
@CuemakersGuild 10 күн бұрын
each provider is different but I do not see a reason that a hard tip can not be used on ANY shaft.

I see players wiping the chalk off the tip at the end of play. Any benefits to doing this?
@chrisvand2678
@chrisvand2678 10 күн бұрын
None other than keeping your case free from chalk, and limit the blue-ing of the shaft..
@CuemakersGuild
@CuemakersGuild 10 күн бұрын
Simply to keep the case clean, and help reduce the chances of chalk geting on the shaft itself.

When you say the shaft has more deflection you mean the shaft deflects less, causing the cue ball to deflect more, right? It's a very confusing way to talk about the phenomenon.

@@CuemakersGuild well I was trying to be funny, I noticed them because I’m one of the few that enjoy them. I really enjoy your videos very informative. I am a collector of cues from many cue makers, there is so much more to a cue than looks alone. In your opinion what is the best core? I have a few with Purple Heart and maple, personally I like the sound of the cues with a hard core like Purple Heart.
@CuemakersGuild
@CuemakersGuild 7 күн бұрын
@johnmarks2075 Thank you, I choose my core depending on the wood being used. A lot of Ebony, I'm using maple. Burl, I'm using purpleheart.

@@CuemakersGuild makes sense, the last cue I had built was by the late Ron Haley, all ebony I asked for Purple Heart but he said the weight will be to heavy. So we went with maple
