I picked up a pack of 50 black colored darts at Big Lots for 5.00. After cutting them with hot wire, i burnished the hard edges of the tires. I boiled hot water in a coffee pot and rolled the edges of the tires along the outside of the hot container. Tires now have a nice rounded edge.

That's an old school trick, folks have been doing it for ages. I probably would never had thought of it unless I saw someone else do it.

Yeah, it sure did! Now if only I can figure out an easy way to cut down those sharp edges.

Maybe heat? It's foam so maybe heat will work, no idea

That's a good idea. I was going to try spraypaint to melt it a bit and then try rolling them in the gravel tub. Maybe I'll make a quick little test video.

Think some of the Dollar stores have the real cheap knock off nerf darts that would be cheap and perfect for this. Remember to make different widths so the tires have a different look to them.

Good save on the tires! One small move with them, it seems, and you could accidentally end up with what looks like a big pile of charred spaghetti-Os.

awesome video, great idea for quick and easy tire piles but "mega bonus" with using a cheep brush as 'tall grass'.... will be using BOTH these soon when I'm making 40k scatter

Do you think this same thing would work with all of the unused tires I have collected from cars I have taken apart?

For sure. You might need to sand up the smooth plastic to make sure the glue sticks.

Only thing about using all the old hotwheels tires is they all have rims in them. A combo of the nerf cut in different widths and some tires with rims would look interesting.

Absolutely. It will take longer to dry and I would put some glue in a paint tray and dip a bit of each tire one by one to help avoid having visible dried globs in the end product.

@@m3verse thanks I did put the glue in a tray and dipped the wheels. I just completed it and then rewatch your feed. Only to find you super glue. I was panicking if the PVA glue was going to or I had to take it all apart and start again.

Hahaha... I feel that... I reasoned though, that as many as I've "lost to the ammo gods" I could lose a few to another game and they could continue bringing the fun in a different way.
