Just bought mine. Different make (I live in New Zealand) but it is exactly the same thing. The instructions that came with it is rubbish and I have spend an hour struggling before looking for help on you tube. Your instructions are excellent and has addressed all the areas I had issues with. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Much appreciated.

@@thiesam6012 I purchased the TOOLSHED THICKNESSER/PLANER BENCH TOP from The ToolShed in New Zealand. Looks exactly like the titan planer in this video. Very happy with it for my garage workshop as a weekend warrior. I have now used it to both joint and then plane some rough sawn hardwood and it did a good job for my needs.

I bought this machine second hand and I’ve got to say, now I’ve watched your video, I’m really all set to use the machine. Mine didn’t make the click as I wound the thicknesser bed up though!? I’m yet to switch on so let’s see if I need to adjust anything or it lets me use it without having had the click! Great informative video. Thank you 👍

TQ for the excellent review. I bought a unit and the knob that lower/raise the planer tray get stuck at every turn of the knob. called the supplier and was told to expect some hesitation .. it was a struggle until i watched this video showing the chain adjustment underneath the unit. After adjustment then is no hesitation at all. Again thanks and keep your good work.

Thanks for this. It was a really big help while assembling it! Much better than trying to refer to the manual. I wonder if just screwing a piece of flat mdf to the fence would make it any better? Just a thought.
@GrumpysWorkshop4

No worries, that could work aslong as its straight & flat. It's a shame the fence doesn't slide backwards and forwards so you can use all the blade

I think MDF screwed to the fence should work ok as I noticed a fine adjustment screw at the bottom of the fence support for correcting any error in the 90°. Did you notice it?

The only thing I had hoped u would show us was u using a piece of actual pallet wood that needed cleaning up so we could see the real difference.. That would've been awesome my friend.. Maybe u could do a quick follow up one day to let us see how it works on dirty pallet boards & give us a proper close up of the machine in action.. Just me thinking out loud bro.. Hi Gurmpy, (I find this is addressing very funny indeed) One of the best comprehensive presentations I have come across on KZfaq. Very useful to anyone who wants to use this Titan Thicknesser. You deserve a massive thank you for making things simple. Please can you tell me what are the dimensions of the blades in mm? Best of luck. Thank you.

Bought one of these at the weekend, and after a few light test passes in both modes it clunked about a bit and then stopped altogether. Took it back to Screwfix and swapped it over with no bother. Haven't yet run the new one because I wanted to watch this video and make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. Doesn't seem like I was. But I have noticed that the infeed table lock handle just goes round and round and doesn't appear to tighten or do anything at all (but it seemed fine on the previous broken one). I'll take it off and see if there's something visibly wrong. I paid £179.99 for mine.

Got to agree with you I don't find changing the dust collector over that much of a faf, especially if you plane all the timber first and thickness after, I noticed when ( at time 6.37) when you removed the bolt to replace with the knob you also removed the square silver spacer, i don't think you do that just remove the bolt and washer, at least that's how I set mine up. (hope that makes sense)

I've recently bought this. I found the planer infeed table a pain to get level. The fence was level. Ran some timber through the planer and thicknesser, timber was square. Didn't find the dust shroud a pain to change over. Did notice there are two bolts behind the main cover to loosen the planer in-feed table which the instructions didn't mention. Over all very impressed for the price. How long will it last? Only time will tell. Great vid, keep it up.

i have been looking into getting a planer/thicknesser for a while now with the added option of being able to do jointing as well this machine im thinking is a must have but could you tell me if you leave the blade guard off of the top will the machine still work? just i do alot of jointing bigger boards and it look to me as if the guard would get in the way once standing by the side of the machine
@GrumpysWorkshop4
@GrumpysWorkshop4 2 жыл бұрын
It will still operate with the sliding guard off although when jointing narrow boards its advisable to use it. The dust shroud has to be fitted for the machine to operate as it operates the safety switches. I suppose you could override them if you really wanted to but its easy enough to fit
