Our rainy day adventure to the Titanic Artifact Exhibition in Orlando, Fl
Join us as we make our way through the exhibit and examine genuine Titanic artifacts recovered from the wreckage on the seabed; learn about the history behind them.

Correction
In the video I stated that the “touch piece” of Titanic was sealed off and you cannot touch. At the time I am certain I misread the “Please Touch” sign…as “Please Do Not Touch” (as this is typically what we are accustomed to seeing). Coupled with the fact it was in a plexiglass case was enough to make me think it was only on visual display.
However, through watching other videos of the museum, I have come to know that there is a small hole in top of the plexiglass case that you can reach through and touch an actual piece of Titanic history. My apologies to anyone who may have missed out on touching this piece of history (like myself) due to my statement.

The very first photo shown is my great uncle, Thomas Andrews jr. I am very proud of the history he left behind his skill in designing ships. When at the age of 14yrs he began his apprenticeship, his family gave him a briefcase to carry pencils, rulers and paper, unlike our leather ones his was wooden. I have the honour to own it. It will be passed down through generations, just as I inherited it...In the movie he was the man who stood by the clock in the lounge...his family lived in a small village outside Belfast called Comber. A lot of his descendants still live there today...it was only a few miles to get the the small seaside town. He would ride his bicycle there and watch the ships go by..this is thought to be were he decided to be a ship builder/ designer....

Wow!!! Thank you Evelyn for this bit of family history! I always find it interesting to find out the personal history of the individual lives. It sounds like you are well versed in your family history! I spent my youth and early adulthood re-enacting the American Civil War. Much more of interest to me was the living history aspect of it, than the battle re-enactments. I spent much time researching a specific Soldier in the unit I was attached to. I knew his family history, his personal struggles, and his friendships with others in the unit. I spent my time at re-enactments in the first person. We were very disciplined in maintaining a representation of our Soldier in their time period. Spectators were often directed to our unit (31st Indiana, Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company G) because it was like observing a piece of history come to life when they observed our interactions with each other and the crowd. It is this type of research into the lives of those who played key roles in our history, that keeps history alive and interesting! Thank you dearly for sharing this bit of history with us here.

I have been obsessed with Titanic ever since I was a child. One day, my dad took me to central London (the Titanic exhibition) without telling me why. I was angry the whole journey because I was a naughty, stubborn child. The moment he told me where we were going, everything changed. Love you dad.

My 6 year old is obsessed. He is also very obsessed with britannic and carpathia. It’s an odd obsession for a kindergartner but I indulge him in his obsession. History is important.

I also went the the Exhibition in London shortly after the ship was discovered ( I can't remember if my friend and I went there Specifically or not but when I saw the bannere I just knew I had to see it ) And to be honest it was a VERY EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET X It wasn't as well laid out as this one but still .... WOW !!

I have always been fascinated with the Titanic ever since I was about 9 years old and back in the late 50's , early 60's, there was a TV show called, "One Step Beyond ", and they showed how some people were somehow knowing something catastrophic was going to happen to the Titanic. In my child's mind, I couldn't understand how that beautiful ship could hit an iceberg on the vast Atlantic Ocean. I am now in my 70's and have been to the exhibit on Orlando, years ago. I have a model of the Titanic in my dining room and books about the Titanic, so even after all these years, the story about the Titanic continues to not only fascinate me, but a whole new generation of people. The ship may have died but it looks like it's story will never end.

Beautiful documentary !! I’ve been a Titanic nerd since I was a kid in the 80’s. My brother had a historical disasters book and the Titanic story and Images of the ship were in it. It captured my imagination as a child and never let go !! 🚢 😮😢

I can't honestly tell you how much it means to me to see these artifacts without going to the actual exhibition. I have been to quite a few Titanic exhibitions over the years, but this one was beautiful. I can't thank you enough.

I went to this exhibition on my 13th birthday as a gift from my mother. That was 25 years ago. It wasn't as extravagant as it is now, but I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with all of us. I have been researching Titanic and other maritime history ever since I was 6 years old, so 32 years now, and Titanic has always been my favorite ship.

It sounds like this exhibit holds some great memories for you! Certainly there is a lot of interesting maritime history to research. Have you ever visited the National Civil War Museum in Columbus, Georgia? It has some amazing artifacts and history. I have a love for civil war period history… including the naval history of the period. They even has an old ironsides ship they pulled up from the bottom of the river.

This reminds me a bit of the Titanic museum we went to in Branson, MO, a year or two after it opened. It included water to put your hand in to feel how cold the water was that night and even bits from filming the movie as well as actual artifacts from the wreckage. It was fascinating, and I’m sure if I went a dozen more times, I’d still manage to learn something more each time. Such a tragedy, and I wish we had more artifacts from which we could learn more about the people, times and of course the Titanic experience.

The one in Las Vegas has the most artifacts and has the Big piece of the actual Ship.. its cool that the ones in Missouri and Tennessee have replicas of the grand staircase and rooms but for a ton of artifacts I would say the one in Vegas is the best

Several months ago, I went to the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge TN. I love how each museum has different items. I enjoyed watching this video of things I didn't get to see at mine. The gift shop was amazing. I ended up buying a t-shirt and a book about the stewardess Violet Jessop and how she survived the Titanic and Britannic disasters. I recommend that book. My passenger was Maria Backström from Finland. She was 33 years old and 6 months pregnant and held a third class ticket. She traveled with her husband and her two brothers which all three perished. Maria survived because her husband begged her to get into one of the last lifeboats. After the tragedy, she went back to Finland. May all those that perished that night rest in peace.

I have heard wonderful things about the Pigeon Forge exhibit. My aunt lives in Pigeon Forge and she loved it! Perhaps one day I will get up that way to visit that Exhibition. Thank you for sharing your passenger information. It is certainly due in large part to the loss of life and lives affected, that we find this tragedy to be such a loss.

I went to the Titanic Artifact Exhibition at the London Science Museum in 2004. In the souvenier shop you could buy a book with pictures and descriptions of all the items in the exchibit. Which is probably why we weren't allowed to take photos of the exhibit. Which was a shame, as it was probably the only time in my life I would have had to view the exhibit. Don't know how this guy pulled off doing what he did.

@@MoonHowlerGaming We were allowed to take photos in Vegas when I saw it 4 years ago. They have that giant ice cube to touch on the way out; one little girl was with her mom and as she touched it she said, "Mommy, why didn't they all just go to the Bahamas instead?"

When I went to the exhibit in Orlando, Florida, years ago, my boarding pass was for Katriina Jussila , which was really weird since my initials are KJ. I still have that boarding pass with the model I have of the Titanic in my dining room.

I bought a 2e class cup in an auction in Ireland years ago that was ment for financing the Titanic recoveries and salvage . It was probably the last item sold at the time and since there was lots of these cups when I offred to give it back the curator said I could keep it and take good care of it .

My husband and I went to Mexico after the filming of Titanic. We were able to tour the film set and see how amazing the Titanic must have been. We’ll never forget how incredible and sad it was.

I saw this exhibit in Chicago probably 20 years ago my most intense memory of it was that I was able to actually touch the hull of the Titanic through an acrylic wall with round holes in it through which you could put your hands and lay it on the hull of the titanic. It gave me shivers I’ll never forget that tactile experience I hope they still have that

Indeed...I too have touched the Titanic. I took my daughter, who was then at university, when it visited Manchester, England, in the early 2000s. From memory, I think you could just put a finger on a fragment of the hull through a narrow slot. They would probably ban that now to avoid the spread of Covid!

I've been to this Exhibition - it is amazing. You feel like your onboard the Titanic when your there. The only gripe I had about it was they were selling bits of Coal from the Titanic wreak in souvenirs in their shop (i thought that was disrespectful the ship is a grave and people forget that)

what a well done documentary, the background music was nether sappy nor over the top loud along with describing many of the little things that won't tug at your heart strings but brings a wealth of knowledge on how within that time we lived and traveled. yes, well done , very well done

i went there once a long time ago. it was an amazing experience. CQD means "Come Quick Distress" actually. Also Titanic was the first ship to use SOS.

CQD does not actually stand for come quick distress, although most people think it does. I found this on line, which explains it simply .......... What does distress call CQD mean? In 1904, the Marconi company suggested the use of “CQD” for a distress signal. Although generally accepted to mean, “Come Quick Danger,” that is not the case. It is a general call, “CQ,” followed by “D,” meaning distress. A strict interpretation would be “All stations, Distress.”

I was mistaken about not being able to touch it. I had to retract my statement in the video description. It was in a plexiglass case, I just didn’t see the small hole in the top for reaching your fingers through. There was also a sign that said “Please Touch” and in my mind it registered “Please Do Not Touch”.. let’s face it… how often do you see signs that say “Please Touch”?

These were real people with real valuables and I'm not just talking monied valuables I'm talking about things from a German/ English dictionary and a notebook where a man practiced his name and address. It was human atmosphere and you gave us that as oppose to just seeing the layout from a mechanical and working point of view. Watching this was a wonderful, educational and deeply moving experience. Very well conceived and presented. I especially liked the narrator's speaking voice which was not only extremely pleasant but clear and well modulated ... I detect a slight "south of the Mason/Dixon Line" inflection and was lovely. The background music was a perfect score and I wonder if the music has a name or if it can be identified?

I went to this exhibition when it was in LA California some some 15 years ago. The boarding ticket I held was for a person that did not make off the ship. RIP

As somebody who visited this breath taking exhibition, I can attest to each passenger being given a Titanic passport which at the end of the tour you find out who lived and those who didnt. Each passport contains info on its particular passenger. There are many notable artifacts on display that are viewable during the self directed tour. So much hubris led to so many deaths. As a result of this disaster there are now Air Ice Patrols that keep eyes on growlers and burgs along with enough lifeboats for all persons on the sea

I had the luck of visiting one of the many touring Titanic exibitions of artifacts ect a few yrs a go as i had missed the one in the uk that only came to London origialy ...And was only by chance as we were on a short weekend break to Prague when we stumbled upon it as wasn't advertised anywhere! ....iv been intersted in titanic from being a kid in the early 70s when i found out my neighbours mother was a survivor as a child/ teenager but NEVER spoke about it as she lost her parents in the sinking ect ....that ignited my interest at prob 5 yrs old at the time ....each touring exhibit is obv different and the one i attended in Prague had a LOT of the personal efects from passengers including jewelry, clothes, ect ect and like your visit to the florida one we were each given a boarding pass with a passengers name on it and then had to look them up at the end to see if they survived or perished! ...i now have a larg collection of books on Titanic be they books on the building and different areas of the ship to more personal accounts of survivors or stories of the souls that perished! ...a great vid by the way and very well done!

Such fantastic memories. I visited here from England in 2014 and was a great experience. I actually used to work in a building in Liverpool city centre and the floor above me was the old office for the white star line. Today they have a big titanic model ship in a fish tank and the old newspaper cut outs on the wall of when the tragedy occurred. It was pretty surreal seeing that every day at work.

Also 8:46 Spot on with that transmission. That's what it would have sounded like to anybody recieving their distress calls. There were no beeps back then. It was basically an interruption in static. Haunting sound.

I went a couple of years ago (no filming or photos allowed) and it's nice to see they have new pieces on display. Thanks for putting this together!! I thought the whole experience was both fun and sad; movie reminiscent but also real life. And yes I did buy a heart of the ocean necklace at the gift shop!

Thank you for this. I went to a temporary exhibition in Montreal back in 2008, very similar to this one. I remember not enjoying it as much as I should've. You gave me a chance to live it again! :)

Excellent! I am glad you enjoyed it. That was kind of my goal in this. In the past I have visited exhibits like this (oftentimes naval and civil war museums) and walked through too quickly. I missed so much in doing so. That gave me the idea to use my photographs and videos to put together a video (originally just to enjoy with family). After it came together I quickly realized it had great educational value and others might enjoy it as well.

If you every come to Northern Ireland 🇮🇪 you will see the best collection of Titanic artifacts every plus you will see the tug boat that pulled the Titanic out to Sea.. we have the best Museums to see what it was like and Who!!!! Built the Titanic. It refers to a religions divide at the time... I would glady forward you on photos I have taken in the American Ulster's folk Park.. . Plus photos taken at the exhibition site where the Titanic was builted...

One of the most beautiful documentaries I've seen about the Titanic. Congratulations for all the study and work you did!!! I also love the Titanic and its history! I used to have an issue with taking artifacts from the Titanic wreck but when you look at it now you realize it isn't going to resemble anything pretty soon but a pile of disintegrating rubble. Get whatever can be brought up safely and display it for the world to see. That stuff wasn't meant to be on the ocean floor anyway.

That’s exactly right. The ocean life will completely recycle all of it back into the earth. Many people are against it because they feel that it is a “Graveyard”. While there may have been the remains of some at the bottom… most died in the frigid waters as they leapt free of the sinking vessel. While the ones that were trapped in the lower levels have disintegrated in the icy depths… the calcium content of their bones long ago dissolved into history.

My great grandfather Albert Horswill survived the sinking of the Titanic. He was a crewman that was ordered into cutter lifeboat one by Officer Murdoch. He was in a lifeboat with Cosmo and Lucy Duff Gordon.
