I am so glad to see these open roof structures l After seeing an earlier video of your TORNADO WIND DAMAGE, I became concerned ! Also in an earlier video, when you screwed the cellular antenna to the top of the roof, I saw the house roof move l If you would install a set of cross hatch cable or threaded rods, between several roof supports , it would ADD to the side wise stability of the roof supports ! As a thought, you have MORE open wind sail structure than Columbus had as sails on his ship crossing the ocean !

@@TKCL I just had another idea, instead of a hinge you could also make the bracket removable. So maybe something like a hole in the post it would slide into. Then you could just pull it out when not in use, plus then you could put holes at different heights so you wouldn’t need extra holders.

These are pretty cool. My neighbor had something kind of like that that was split, it had a magnetic door where that you can push open that covered his garage doors. I was thinking about just using something like that for a screened in porch that I could remove pretty easily if it got too windy and when I didn’t want it to be covered. It just use Velcro though and I’m not sure that would be strong enough long-term.

You could mount those on the backside of your gutters are on the facia board and not have to worry about those mounts at all, it might stick over a little behind the house but if you just put it on the roof you wouldn’t really have to worry about the width of the polls. It looks like it might be long enough heat up to you work around or move one of the gutters over a few inches but it’s another option.
@TKCL

I'd be worried about the sun destroying them and the rain causing mildew if they were mounted there.
@ShaneZettelmier
@ShaneZettelmier Жыл бұрын
@@TKCL good point. It would be interesting to see if you could cut them down a little to make them fit the way you want. But I think it looks pretty good the way you have it set up, I would probably try to come up with a way to clamp the bottom down better, just because you have so much wind there but it might be better just to let it go. You might even find a way to tie the two of them together just to keep it from being able to swing over towards the window so easily if it’s blown really hard. I definitely think the idea about putting the chair footer on there to keep it from messing up the paint on the side of the house is a good idea, or at least I felt pad on that end.

Nice addition to your porch area Andrew! That sun can be brutal, you've reclaimed your porch! Have you thought about installing a hinge on the outer post that could fold down when not needed but when opened would allow the shade to be pulled straight down? Good work Andrew. If I had done it (opinions, much like bellybuttons), I would have left the blind closer to the house the way is was, but mounted the one further from your house on the outside of the posts. Evened the end of the blind with the furthest post and overlapped the center post (may need to tee off the center post in the other direction similar to the way you did the blind closer to the you house. Thanks as always for your videos. Love to see how you're making this a beautiful and comfortable home.

Just secured at the bottom I would consider making a bracket that screws to the post it just holds that pole down tight. Just a little piece of metal that you could easily tighten down with a wingnut it would hold the polls in place without the bungees and be much stronger. When I’m watching the video I’m wondering if that thing blew up and swung in towards the house if it would reach the window. 🤔

@@TKCL that would be cool. I also bought some magnets off of eBay. They’re made for screwing under a table or a cabinet to hold a gun but they’re very strong magnets. Then you could just put a metal park or some thing in the post and drill so you can counter sink it so it’s flush but those magnets were very very strong and they have bigger ones that are more of a rectangle shape as well. That might be a thought but I’m sure you’ll come up with something pretty awesome
