Last week, Somalia signed a military and economic deal with Turkey in a move that is assumed to be a response to Ethiopia's port agreement with Somaliland. So in this video, we'll explain what this deal means and whether it might deter Ethiopia's plans.

Turkey and Sonalia are an old partners. Literally all the Muslim countries respect Somalia for it is one of the first Muslims in the history of Muslims and are 100% Muslims. So they protect their brothers and sisters just like they did protect them from the Portuguese who used Ethiopians back then.

I guess many successful students that educated themselves in Turkey went back to Somalia, and this step will be a part of their development with their own human sources in economics. Also we had many Ethiopian students too.

I think this anecdote will be enough to understand the bond between Turkey and the Turkish Army: When I started school at the age of 6, I repeatedly heard this sentence "Every Turk is born as a soldier." I am now 41 years old, I have no official connection with the military, but the same sentence still echoes in my ear.

Turkey is valuable friend to Somalis, he is the only head of state who be come courageous and land 2011 in Mogadishu and show kindness to the Kids and hold them in his chest, help Somali people while no other head of state couldn't even do so, because they were cowards. So we can't forget what Tayyip Erdoğan did for us , and he deserves 30% and more of our assets heck we own our lifes to him.

Turkey has been incredible for Somalia, I can't stress how important her presence has been in the last decade, all while our neighboring countries (our so called 'african' brothers and sisters) are trying to or have tried to annex parts of the country for 'their national interest'. Unfortunately they see a strong Somalia, both economically and militarily as a threat to their existence.

A few thing you forgot to mention - Ethiopia wants to build a military base and a navy, not just a port. Pretty silly to not mention the main issue at hand. - Ethiopia has access to multiple ports in Kenya, Djibouti and owns 19% of a port in Somalia - 30% split is only for 10 years until Somalia can build its navy. -The land Somaliland sold to Ethiopia belongs to a clan that wants to remain in Somalia.(Awdal)

as a Turkish I don't want any avoidable war so I hope Ethiopia stops with their aggressive attitude towards its multiple neighbors. and they become a dear constructive neighbor hopefully ❤. however they saw Somalia as the weakest link among coastal countries and want to take advantage of that illegally. this shouldn't happen they can gain more with peace than wars. I hope Turkey stays true to itself and stop being hypocritical by on one hand recognising the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and on the other hand trying to derail Somaliland's will. Somaliland is more deserving of a recognition and has a viable legal path to it, because it existed as a separate country when it gained independence in 1960 before Somalia became independent.

Today, if there is a war between Serbia and Kosovo, there is a direct intervention by Turkey, not as NATO, but as Azerbaijan-Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Imagine that NATO is going to war with Russia today; Turkey would not go to war with NATO against Russia. On the contrary, it secretly provides arms aid to Russia. NATO countries are not allies of America and its supporters, Turkey.

It has a lot of educated diaspora and oil 🛢️ reserves more than that of UAE or Kuwait. It has gold diamonds uranium rare earth minerals and Africa largest livestock and fish reserves

Ethiopia is slowly isolating itself from the whole neighborhood. Abiy, lacks foresight and proper judgement but his biggest flaw is the lack of strategic patience. - He refused to negotiate a water sharing deal with Egypt over the Blue Nile waters after Egypt had withdrawn all objections to the construction of the GERD dam. - He made a peace deal with Eritrea but continued to hold onto territory awarded to Eritrea by the ICJ. - He caused a war in Tigray (Northern Ethiopia) but cancelling the results of an election because of Covid. Notwithstanding the fact that another or a delayed election would have yielded the same results. - He caused a war in Amhara (North and Central Ethiopia) by rapidly disbanding regional police forces which were protecting the Amhara community. Instead of creating a new security force 1st. - As a result Ethiopia has the highest number of Internally Displaced People (not Ukraine or Gaza) in the world, ethnic communities have evicted "foreigners" from local lands and Eritrean troops have refused to leave Ethiopia. - He then needlessly provoked Eritrea and now Somalia by declaring that Ethiopia must have access to the sea by any means possible including the use of the military. - All in all Ethiopia would have obtained access to the sea by negotiations with Djibouti (who have leased port access to 7 countries), or by negotiations with the federal government of Somalia who would have granted him access on the same terms as the Somaliland deal without having to recognize Somaliland independence. He still had the options of Sudan and Kenya which he barely explored.

Ethiopia is reaping what the TPLF sowed. After Eritrea’s independence in 1991 Ethiopia was using Eritrean ports of Massawa and Assab until May 1998. This is when the TPLF regime abandoned the Eritrean ports to declare war on Eritrea over border dispute pretext but the real reason was to carry out a regime change in Eritrea as instructed by the US. Ethiopia also invaded Somalia in 2006 destroying the little hope of peace the country had under Islamic Courts. It was this invasion and subsequent occupation of Somalia and the indiscriminate killings of innocent people by the TPLF regime and their partners in crime the US that radicalised the youth to create Alshabab terrorists. This time once again the regime in Ethiopia is working to destabilise Somalia has they did in 2006. This time the regime in Ethiopia is instructed by the UAE and we all know who controls UAE. Honest question. If Somalia hasnt had a functioning government in decades, what is the issue with Ethiopia recognising Somaliland, the only stable and moderatly democratic region in the failed state

I’m from Somaliland and majority of us don’t want Ethiopia in our country. What does Ethiopia recognition do for us? NOTHING if Muse current Somalia’s president is just using this as excuse after the incident about Sool. So is Abiy Ahmed after he kill Tigray, current issue with Amhara and Oromo(OLA) this will not work out if majority people are against. Land maybe Somaliland but it belongs to SOMALIS.

The problem here is that Somaliland isnt stable or peacefull, it has spend the last couple decades killing other opposing clans, google "laascaanood amesnsty genocide" up. And it isn't democratic at all, all the power is held by a single clan that is relentless in killing opposition.

Somaliland is not a country it's international recognised as part of somalia 🇸🇴. Ethiopia is the aggressor here and everybody can see that

Turkey is a relatively big player. Their economy is almost 10 times larger than Ethiopia and their army is the second strongest in nato. So partnering with them might be a game changer.

Costs are relatively lower in Turkey as Turkish lira is pretty weak. So Turkey's 15B is more like 30-35B if you consider it to in France/Germany standards.

Be thankful Turkey is in nato even if they contributed 0.5 they are still the biggest thing nato needs what is stopping Turkey from allying with Iran and Russia ? They also hold a huge strategic point

I started laughing when I heard that the coastal nation of Somalia doesn't have a navy. Even Hungary has a navy, and it has zero land by the sea. It really is a land of rocks, sticks and sand. The people are truly living in the Middle Ages at best, when it comes to modernity and progress.

Read up on Somali history. For most of our existence since the after the Romans we've been a sea faring people. It's just today in our modern history we've let our ancestors down. It's ridiculous to think Somalis don't know the sea. Remember it was our king who met Mongol invaders and stopped them, if it wasn't for Somalis Africa might be Mongolian.

Abbey Ahmed is a man who is not stable intellectually, since he took control of Ethiopia, he is still at war with every Ethiopian ethnicity including his own ethnicity almost he lost all of these ugly wars. He turned to Somalia and said that they are not united, Here we can find a sea. He made a false agreement with my clan who wants to separate Somalia. Somalia is a country that was divided by Western colonialists into Ethiopia, Kenya and French made Djibouti a country. Does common sense and international law accept that what Abbey wants to do?. International law does not accept that a government signs with a clan of a country to give a sea to a foreign country. this has greatly united all of Somalia and it cannot be done with the madness he has in Ethiopia. He was considered reasonable, but he is far from it when you look at his practices. Finally Thanks to Turkey.

Ethiopia wants spoil Somalia rebuilding! It fears Somalia will rebuild and return to pre 1991 and dominate the region. Somalia this time has over 115 billion barrels of oil 🛢️ offshore alone ( excluding onshore land which has plenty of oil and gas too ) so it's more than Emirates or Qatar or Kuwait. It has plenty of gold diamonds uranium and other minerals used for industries . It has one of the world largest fish stock and the largest livestock in Africa 🌍 It has the longest coastline in mainland Africa with 3333km of pristine white sand beaches. So potentially to be super rich country is huge and influence the. Region. Ethiopia is afraid so are some Arab countries in the Gulf that fear a Somali return, because they only did rise after the Somali fall!

We aim at rebuilding Ukraine, Libya and helping others too. we are not like the French, British, American, Chinese and Russians. It has to be a WIN WIN for both sides, not only one side. We approach it with moral and ethics as we understand what the people of somalia has been through the civil war
