Most of the COMMENTATORS are terrible up here in Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland . Johnston Davies was a Great Player in both codes Rugby . He is a good co commentator . e BuTTler is a terrible commentator . NIGEL OWENS IS THE GREATEST REF EVER . Id trust him in a match Ireland or Munster vs Wales or any Welsh Club .

Karma still the best now, only he's decided to retire from International Rugby. The good thing is, he's going to ref more at grass roots level and train up new refs. Imagine a Saturday Youth match, when Nigel turns up to Ref!

I wish commentators would shut up and let us listen to the ref and TMO. Shouldn't he still have carded the other player for the deliberate knock on? The player didn't know the play would be called back.

This is what VAR should do! The video referee telling the onfield referee he’s missed something and the ref acknowledging he’s made a mistake and rectifying the situation. It’s why Rugby is head and shoulders above football in the respect department

Right decision but can the TMO actually get involved there. It’s not foul play and it’s not a try so surely the TMO isn’t allowed to jump in for a penalty that isn’t foul play. I’ve never seen it happen before. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing he got involved but surely if it was legal for the TMO to do that we’d see it more often

Surely a deliberate knock on counts as foul play so it should still be a yellow right?
@davidanderson40912 жыл бұрын
No. According to referee guidelines, that only happens when there is dangerous play (such has a head-high tackle or a tip tackle) which gets pre-empted by a previous infringement. This comes under the principle of _"no-harm, no-foul"_ The harm from a deliberate knock-on is the denying of a possible try scoring opportunity. A prior infringement means that the try scoring opportunity would never have eventuated anyway so there is no harm done and a yellow card should not be given. However, the harm from an act of dangerous play where contact is made is physical harm to the opponent. A prior infringement does not undo that physical harm to the player, so a yellow card could be given if the dangerous play was serious enough.

@mra63085 жыл бұрын
They are there for a fair match. Ofcourse they can't exactly make it 100% fair but if they can get it as close as they can then that is good enough.

@@mra6308 and that's the problem with SH rugby, not properly utilizing the resources available to officials as it might stop the 'flow' of the game, blatant cheating should always stop a game!
@Karma-qt4ji5 жыл бұрын
@@mra6308 But you should! If the assistant referees can call knock on's, forward passes, chasers in front of the kicker etc, why can't the TMO? He should be used as a 4th pair of eyes giving another 33% chance of getting the decision right and, in SH over the past few weeks we have seen a hell of a lot of wrong decisions. I am not advocating stopping the game for the referee to constantly have a look at the big screen, I am talking about a voice in the referees ear very much the same as the assistant referees do. Look at this case here. A TMO intervention changed the course of the game by correctly pointing out an earlier infringement. Penalty to defending team in a kickable position versus a penalty to the attacking team in a kickable position PLUS a yellow card for a deliberate knock down. 6 points and one man down will change the game completely. No supporter would want to give that kind of unfair advantage to the opposition - imagine that happening against you in a tight RWC match...?
@cannibalking5 жыл бұрын
the TMO should only intervene when the ref asks for his/her opinion. Anything other than that, shut the hell up. The TMO's are there to assist the refs in making calls that the ref and touch judges have witnessed with their own eyes.....
@terrenceverheul74215 жыл бұрын
Bullshit call there were two players on the otherside and if the player that was accidently blocked wouldn't of caught the guy with the ball. Ref should of played on.
