I don’t know anyone that doesn’t tear up the first time they see this one, or many times afterwards. I know it still gets me and I’ve seen it more times than I can count. It’s such a beautiful message, sung by a group showing their huge range in diversity, which is perfect for the song. If a group with such diversity can co-exist beautifully together, and love and respect each other, AND create something as stunning as this, then anyone can. Loved your reaction ♥️

From what I understand each of the signs not only represents each person but the sign they pass to the next person is something they have in common with that person. Also I strongly believe that this is what the true meaning of this song was meant to be. John Lennon would be proud I think.

First reactor I've seen with a most beautiful, calming way of presenting PTX videos with a copyright screen that's not A) BLOCKED BY WORDS, B) BLACKED OUT WHERE NOTHING CAN BE SEEN AT ALL, or C) CHOPPED UP INTO PIECES. It was a perfect and heartfelt reaction, and you're right about this being a timeless song that tugs at the consciousness - from back when it first came out, to today. Thank you for your spirit and passion.

Never be afraid to show what I call "reactears" because it gets us all now and then. You're not the first to have that reaction and you won't be the last. [Edited to add] If the rest of the song didn't get you, that breakdown at the end where they're all singing different harmonies but meshing together so well, like the diversity in their group, the diversity of their voices all coming together as one is just overwhelming. Great reaction.

This song always destroys me, I don't even need the sympathetic reaction-- but boy does it make it a shared experience! Thanks for reacting to this, I look forward to every PTX reaction you have to offer. GREEDY for them! I just love that you're already shook and you're not even to the 9.3 EARTHQUAKE section yet, bahahha. It's not glee, it's understanding :D EDIT: I hope you will check out their cover of Gold by Kiiara, by the way. It's got sheer musical skill, but also takes a song that was a hit and does things to it that make it different and still stunning. Another one that showcases their talents in a different way is 'Thank You,' a song that Scott wrote with his partner during the pandemic, and features him on piano and Kevin on cello.

Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic, timeless song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I saw and heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode. Pentaholics are the ones who need to see this the least.

As individuals, and as a group, Pentatonix is not just incredibly gifted vocalist, musicians, and performers, way beyond that, they have the outstanding ability to make people feel. This is usually the song that I judge reactors on - if they only talk about the music and you see that they're only there for the popularity, and don't share at least one thought for the message - or if they recognize that it's, at least by its message, probably the most important Pentatonix video on the channel, and what they're conveying: So much variety; black and white, straight and LGBTQ+, man and woman, two religions and atheism, and origins from America and elsewhere. And yet - they show that they are probably one of the tightest groups out there, in voice and in friendship. It's incredible and an example to the whole of humanity.

You know, no matter how many times I see and hear them do this song, it breaks me down. I think about the world how it is, and how it'd be so nice to be in this imagined world... It'll come one day. It warms me to see people like you reacting to this as you did. To get confirmation that people that are touched by the message of this song and that also long for that utopia, is a very comforting feeling. It does however feel hopeless that we'll never reach it and that is where the tears and broken feelings come from. Have faith in humanity and one day... One day as a race we'll get there.

This song by the bass in this video, Avi Kaplan (who left PTX in 2017 and now has a thriving solo career) speaks to much of what "Imagine" says. "All Is Well" is an original song he wrote with Joy Williams (formerly of The Civil Wars), but here he's singing it solo in a video that was shot in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands while he was on his European tour earlier this year. Needless to say, the acoustics of the church enhance his already beautiful resonance. I'd recommend you check out more of his solo work. Every song is a gem. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbSalaRyz6yYhJs.html

That was a great reaction, and this song still gets me even after watching it so many times, its a beautiful message. I think your idea of watching some of their more light hearted songs, after the more emotionally stressful ones is a good idea, and they have a huge range to choose from. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a great example of them having fun, as is My Favourite Things, both are uplifting experiences although they do love switching audio from one side to the other.

I'm old enough to remember the evening news on December 8th, 1980: John Lennon, dead. Ambushed as he returned home after an evening out with his wife, by an assassin who then waited around for the cops to show up because he was proud of what he'd done. The shock and grief are as strong today as they were over 42 years ago. As usual when Pentatonix upgrades a song they do so with utmost respect for the song itself, and the songwriter and original artist. Which I think is the only way they could upgrade a song that was perfect to start with, as "Imagine" was. You take the perfect song and find a way to make it more itself. In the case of "Imagine," Pentatonix responds to the original words John wrote. John saw that things like religion and countries divide people, and said we should do away with them. But Pentatonix sees that it would be impossible to do away with them, and finds another solution. Pentatonix shows us how a loving community deals with differences. First we find the ways that we're the same, and let that draw us together. Then we look for the ways that we're different and let that educate us, increase our vision and our empathy. By celebrating our diversity we become a stronger community, and become able to see the humanity in everyone we meet. John had only 40 years on this planet; we have no way to know what else he would have written had he lived out his life. All we know is what he *did* write, his perfect song, "Imagine." I wish he could have seen this video; it would have made him so proud.

Wonderful, touching reaction. And as many commenters noted, we all STILL cry in this song (and I never particularly liked it before). Since we're headed to holiday season, hope you'll take a wander into some of their extensive and amazing Christmas music. You'll be surprised (or maybe not) at the PTX twist they add. Some of my faves are O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night (one of their very early videos, filmed in a church), First Noel, Joy to the World. I'm eagerly watching for the next review.
