One of the few things I hate about Doom is how inconsistent liquids are. Sometimes they hurt you, sometimes they don't, and a lot of the time, it's impossible to tell which is which until you jump in.

Great walkthrough! I'm pretty sure the Teleporters which take you to the opposite sides of the room in the Mancubus arena are there for you do avoid damage and to deal consistent damage to each Mancubi.

I've always loved greek mythology, since I was very young in fact. As you accurately pointed out, River Styx separated the Underworld (Hades) from the world of the living. When someone important died, they used to burn their bodies after placing two coins over their eyes. This coins were for the boatman, so their souls could pay the trip across the Styx and rest in peace in Hades. If they weren't disposed this way, their souls would just wander in the river, forever lost and without rest...

"He didn't die? Inconceivable." A man of classic taste I see. I miss when movies like that were relevant. The Princess Bride has some of my favorite quotes in it.

River Styx: Greek mythology, the river flows the souls of the dead into the Tartarus the ancient greek underworld, the realm of Hardes! :D :D

I also like this map, its a worthy #29. And I had NO idea about the pillars near the end neither.

Styx is one of the rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology. It divides the world of the living and Hades, the world of the dead. You have to be able to pay the ferryman to cross the river. This is why the Greek buried their dead with a golden drachma (a type of coin), which they placed in the mouth. The ferryman they called Charon. If you haven't read The Divine Comedy, I highly recommend it. The author, Dante Alighieri, was a devout Catholic, but also a very educated man. I say this because it all influenced his ability to write great stories. The Divine Comedy was a work of fiction and always so. He incorporated elements of Greek mythology to construct his nine circles of hell. He was very detailed about the orders of sin, from the least bad to the worst, and even many circles of hell had their own subdivisions, like the 10 "ditches" of the 8th circle. Usually I'm not a fan of fiction, but the thing that makes this unique is that I learned a lot about history reading the translation, summarization, and commentary of Dante's The Divine Comedy by a modern author named John Ciardi, who is fluent in both ancient Italian and modern English. Reading about Hell is definitely relevant to fans of the Doom franchise lol.

@BigMacDavis1: I almost forgot to mention, whenever you get around to playing the 2004-05 versions of "Doom 3" and "Resurrection of Evil" (with the Trent Reznor Soundpack installed of course), pick up all of the PDA's (you could also use the "give PDA" cheat to steal ones from live civilians), because doing so reveals cabinet codes and even some backstory events before your arrival at the UAC base

The teleports that take you to ether side of the room is just in case you get trapped in one side of the room so you can teleport to the other side and not die.

13:35 the teleporters is to avoid the enemy attacks instead of hiding you swap yourself on each corner avoiding hits its cleaver tho.

Definitely looks like an awesome map. I could hear how happy you sounded while playing it, especially regarding your discovery of the soul sphere! I'm somewhat puzzled as to why that wasn't tagged as a secret, considering it's such a powerful item.

It has a good plot line and the characters are cute. The end. Now.... On to river styx.

Does anyone know how to get the health pack at 3:13? I'm currently playing this map and I tried running, but I can't seem to reach it. I thought it was a secret, but you didn't mention it, so maybe I'm just missing it constantly. (I need the health, I'm at 29%).

between re-visiting both the Ghost Hideout and Crazy Joe's Swamp for extra Night Blossoms (thanks to that respawn glitch), it's the same thing in an area by the Authority gate near Jackal Canyon where you can farm extra Comet Blooms for an important recipe. Oh, and don't be afraid to spend hours-and-hours playing the Tombstones mini-game, because depending on the difficulty it's played on, the longer you'll be playing it to stock up on supplies (bandages especially)

not to mention, backtracking on several levels ("Administration" being one of them) will often make hidden enemies teleport in

Of course it would suck, can you imagine a river made entirely of lost souls? But luckily as you said, that doesn't exist: you blew the crap out of River Styx! And even left it without it's precious megasphere! That's mean... but 20% cooler ;D

Man BigMacDavis, 31 maps down, 1 to go. 69 all the way, that sounds awesome. Megasphere is always amazing. 5:23, glorious I must say, and who wouldn't like to do that every once in a while? Right at the end, had you not realized the enemy transporting out, you would've had to start from scratch again (rage quit! lol).

The no-injury in the lava floor was irritating. I worked so hard to stay OUT of it. Then I see this.

Damn, this map and the one before makes you wonder why more TNT maps aren't like this. Okay, there are a few more TNT maps which I really like, but it's sad that not many are as good as these two. I didn't know about that megasphere either. 20% cooler, good sir. Definitely 20% cooler. And with the ammo, health and armour before that, it would have almost been 69% cooler :D Just a quick question - do you plan on continuing Ultimate DooM and DooM 2 walkthroughs after you're done with TNT?

ok how did I also make it through map 29 without any damage taken and still had 200 health and 20 armour and I barely survived map 27 but yet I aced 28 and 29, how?

does it usually only take 1 bfg hit to kill the spider mastermind?? i swear it used to take me 2 or 3. makes the final map of doom 1 seem a bit lame now.

I PLAYED A VERSION, ORIGINALLY, WHERE THE LAVA WAS DAMAGING, AND IT MIGHT HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN AN ENDING TO DOOM2, PLUS LOTS MORE SECRETS ON THE BACK SIDE - IT WAS MORE LIKE A MULTIPLAYER VERSION

This is my favorite map, just for the prettiness. The green floor area it's probably marble. A palace beyond the Stix, impressive idea. Just for curiosity, normally the Stix is depicted as a lagoon

That megasphere at 14:29 is why I kept falling short on 100% items.

well I usually watch the videos for the lulz, but I do offer tips and whatnot for games (at least the ones I currently own). Have you gotten around to playing "Rage" yet? Because the Scorchers DLC is selling pretty cheap at only $5, at least for the PC version (and have a decent graphics card when playing "Rage", especially for higher screen resolutions)

So they all gather for the celebration, and sure enough, nightmare has escaped the moon. Reflection: its not bad at all. Since im a young professional, I cant exactly become fixated cuz that causes bias. Only sports fandom is allowed, cuz thats different for some reason. I'll see an episode when the mood strikes me. Im not a full blown fan, not by a long shot but I know value when I see it. Overall, MLPFIM gets an 8 out of 10. Add a little fighting, a 9 or higher. Everyone should give it a try.

As promised: Twilight is the main hero character. Shes purple, bookish and has a hard time, to where shes not interested in making friends.
