NA tip system is crazy.. Bosses need to take care of their workers not the client.

not so fun fact, tipping culture comes from slavery, when you would give a tip to a slave cuz you were "kind". Most of the things in america that seem kinda fucked up are legacies from slavery/racism. HOAs, credit scores, tipping culture, police [directly evolved out of slave catchers].
@kadaru24157 күн бұрын
True this tip culture is out of hand instead of taking it up with the employer to do a fair pay they would rather force the customer to tip more and the workers show their anger in the wrong place the customers

jokes on you. as an american I've never tipped my whole life, at least while living in america whenever people say "why don't you tip?", i say: because people like you do it for me

@@lars2894 well for the delivery part I’m scared they might tamper with my food so I just tip a bit

@@kadaru2415 I always request sticker or tape seal on my delivery bag. Never had a problem though, even without one. Also I only use delivery apps, many of which have strong consumer protection against delivery misbehaviors. If the food was carelessly thrown around? Full refund and a free dinner for me!

I also would not tip if I'm picking up just a coffee. If I order some other items, I would. Depends on the service.

always rule of thumb, sit down restaurants you can tip, otherwise no, also typically tip 10 or 15%, 20% at most, a stretch

In Singapore tipping is frowned upon. Can't understand why it is like this in US.

bec owners underpay their workers. the tip they received is basically their salary for the day

Toast should have used his Pinoy bloodline and ignore the tip.

It’s not my fault your boss isn’t paying you enough. The moral law shouldn’t be you have to tip. It shouldn’t be wrong to not tip. Nobody should look at me funny for not tipping “But it’s the nice thing to do” If they provide me very good service, and they’re nice, then hooray they deserve a smile and a compliment. Not money! Money is too far. Only my family and close friends deserve my free money Feeling entitled to my money just for giving good service is fundamentally the equivalent of a nice guy feeling entitled to s3x just for being nice. And then they get mad at the girl when they reject them. Fundamentally they’re the same situation. It’s the exact same concept. You deserve a smile and a compliment, not money. Not my responsibility to pay you, it’s your boss’ responsibility

I've been seeing tipping as like another tax and here in Toronto the sales tax is 13%, so whenever they are asking for 18% or more, I just think to my self, did they really do more service for me than what my government has done? why am I paying an extra tax to someone who has done as much or less than my government has done?
@therealguy123787 күн бұрын
I couldnt understand the tip system. If employee's wages majority is coming from tip, then what is the meaning of working in your(boss) cafe area?

11 bucks is a day worth of work here my country. kinda crazy that it's just coffee there
@jcruz2255Күн бұрын
I make this argument and I've been called a cheapskate and too poor to go out. My whole point and only point, is that tipping involves some kind of service. Making it and handing it to you over the counter doesn't earn you any tips. If you're serving and waiting on me and 5 of my friends over the course of an hour or so, you best believe we'll tip you the MAX amount.

I agree, this started with covid when dining in just wasnt allowed so people would start tipping on pickup as a way to support the place. Well, now we can dine in but these places didnt stop asking for those tips. Similar to Toast, if i am just picking up an order I aint tipping you bro.
