April in Korea is a nice time to go out and enjoy the spring flowers. When Koreans go on a trip or have a picnic, the most popular choice for lunch is gimbap. Even if there is no special occasion, gimbap is a simple but tasty dish you can grab with one hand and enjoy. How about making some gimbap with BTS today?
✔ Basic gimbap ingredients (for 1 serving/2 rolls)
14 oz cooked rice(1 cup (7 oz) uncooked rice, 1¼ cups water), ⅓ (3 oz) cucumber, ¼ (1.5 oz) carrot, 3 oz burdock root, 1 egg, 2 (1 oz) ham strips for gimbap, 2 (1 oz) pickled radish strips, 2 gimbap laver sheets, ¼ teaspoon toasted sesame oil, cooking oil as needed
✔ Rice seasoning: ¼ teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
✔ Burdock seasoning: 1½ tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon corn syrup, ½ tablespoon sugar
🧑‍🍳 Make your own customized gimbap by adding tuna, kimchi, cheese, pork belly or other ingredients you like 🧑‍🍳
- Tuna gimbap: basic gimbap ingredients + ⅔ can (3.5 oz) tuna, 4 perilla leaves, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- Kimchi gimbap: basic gimbap ingrediets + 4 oz kimchi
- Cheese gimbap: basic gimbap ingredients + 2 American cheese slices
- Pork belly gimbap: basic gimbap ingredients + 2 strips of pork belly, 1 tablespoon red chili and soybean paste
