Narcissism:
There are two types of narcissism: With grandiose narcissism we see characteristics like being extroverted, socially bold, self-confident, having a superficial charm, being resistant to criticism, and being callous and unemotional. Vulnerable narcissism is characterized by shame, anger, aggression, hypersensitivity, a tendency to be introverted, defensive, avoidant, anxious, depressed, socially awkward, and shy.
Factor 1 Psychopathy (primary) - callous/unemotional, manipulative, pathological liar, fearless dominance, lacking in remorse
Factor 2 Psychopathy (secondary) - impulsive, irresponsible, neurotic, emotionally reactive, criminal, sensation-seeking

I love how people “feel threatened” while continue to harass the person they are “scared” of. If you are actually afraid of someone, you try to get away from them, not harass them until there is violence.

To be fair, some people freeze so getting away isn't something that would be likely to happen. But to stand there and behave the way she did, it's clear her survival instincts are low. Lol. She had plenty of opportunities to not escalate the situation, if she had trouble physically leaving it.

@@johnnysays5879 : Wrong. She could have said there is a *man* who threatens my life. The fact of specifying that he is an African American when it is very obvious what she wanted to imply while deliberately hurting the dog to achieve an effect of urgency and threat on the call. There is even no need to say Afro (American), when we are all Americans without falling into those stereotypes. The same thing , you yourself due to your racism either consciously or involuntarily or derived from the same cultural and sociological environment that permeates such toxic relationships in America, , You could have written in your comment "Does a *woman* have to wait until she is raped?" instead of like you said " *white* woman" Don't pretend to be silly or ignorant, it's very clear and obvious who lacks the slightest critical and sensible thinking to recognize and understand that your own prejudice leads you to choose those qualifiers so specific and unnecessary regarding a man and a woman in America, and your inability to understand what you read.

Karen behavior--and this in particular-- reminds me of the character in To Kill a Mockingbird, Mayella Ewell, who hysterically accuses a Black man of rape. We come to find out that Mayella has been raped by her own father, a man she cannot accuse, and therefore she rages against the Black man who will surely be punished--because he is Black. This connection by illustration could provide basis for understanding some of the Karen-type hysteria fueling racism today. People who act on racist impulses are irrational, and it would help to end the normalization of racism.

What he did post still seems somewhat threatening because approached her and her dog to give the dog some treats that he just happened to have (?). What is clear is MSM hasn't done research about the more complete context. Some of the blame seems to fall on Mr Cooper and that has been left out of the public story.

Ridiculous. Thousands upon thousands of black people are arrested without being harmed by the police. A BS narrative and media hype sure has *you* brainwashed. A study showed that black people were actually *less* likely to be killed by the police, when all the factors were taken into account. You don't hear about it when white people are killed by the police because that doesn't suit the woke agenda. Also, it is completely ignored how the black people who *do* get killed or beaten are acting at the time. It isn't "how cops react to black people." It's "how certain black people react to cops." True story, scouts honor ✌🏽. She was my neighbor in NYC for 3 years and her old dog “Oliver” bit me on the arm in 2014. I didn’t make a big deal about it, he was a small old dog and shit happens, she was initially apologetic but turned rageful when I wanted to know her name and apt number in case I needed to forward a doctors bill. That was followed by 3 years of clashing with this woman every time we saw each other. Once her dog came after me and my two dogs in the hallway, I yelled at her dog to stop, she said “how dare you shout at my dog you fucking (inaudible).” I may have called her a “C-U-Next-Tuesday “ I’m not very confrontational, and she was the only person I ever had to defend myself against in NYC (and I worked in a sketchy neighborhood). I believe she is a racist and an elitist. She hated having a Hispanic neighbor in “her” luxury apartment building. Believe me, this was a long time coming. As far as the assessment that she has impulse control, I can personally attest to that. I was and am still very good friends with many of the staff of that building, she was always the building joke and was known for her Karen behavior. Just a few stories I remember. -She invites a guy upto her apartment (she was notoriously single and in desperate need of a mans, ahem, affection), only to chase after him out the door about 5 minutes later. Apparently he wasn’t into it. Her sexual frustration was obvious when she came back and yelled at the doorman for laughing. -Winter 2015. My building was on the Hudson and the neighborhood was very windy during winter. The doorman was helping a woman with a stroller through the door when she struggled with the other door, which she took offense to. She made a scene in the lobby on how she expected to have the door opened for her because that’s what she pays for. There is a spinning rotary door as well, she’s just a privileged bitch. -Ah, and my favorite. My wife was talking to the concierge with our two dogs by her side. Old crusty cooch rolls up and tells her that dog walkers have to use the side entrance and the front entrance is for residents only (Not True). My wife is Latina, and she’s mean y’all. She lit into her and called her a racist bitch. She told the building management a bunch of lies, that my wife spit at her and she wanted us removed. Of course none of the video and witnesses backed her up. We moved to a different tower within the same building and didn’t see her as much after that, but still heard stories about her clashing with staff members and residents. I was never a real believer in Karma, but this one makes me a believer. She is a bully. She has a mean and ugly heart. She tried to make me feel inferior. But I’m a combat veteran and I earned my right for a seat at the table. She deserves every bit of what she’s going through.

She didn't ask the guy WHY are you doing this, she went STRAIGHT to threatening him with the police. He was in no way a threat to her. She then lied while making a false report, acting distressed and hysterical to panic the responding officers. HAD the police arrived promptly there is a significant possibility Christian Cooper might have been shot. (Officers are trained to contain the threat FIRST and assess the situation LATER.) Amy Cooper should be CHARGED and JAILED for making a false report to police, reckless endangerment, animal cruelty AND running a dog in The Ramble off-leash. But she WON'T BE because she's a rich White lady. (IMAGINE if she was a screaming, hysterical BLACK lady making false accusations against a WHITE Harvard Grad Professional to Police officers?) If you dont know, he said to her (according to him) "you better put your dog on a leash. If you dont, you wont like what Im gonna do". He then proceeded to get something out of his pocket and tried to call the dog over. If I was the recipient of those words/actions, Id take that as a serious threat. Of course, I wouldnt be walking my dog w/o a leash, and I wouldnt call the cops or inject race; Id get the F out of there. Shes terrible. As you can imagine, I was very taken aback and said "of course not." She continued "someone is posting poisoned cat food through my door" and "I know my cats bother you" (I only saw one of them once and they are never let out and certainly make no noise). Instantly I replied "no they don't!" (bother me). As you can imagine, I now avoid this woman like a taste session at a Chinese wet market situated next to a biolab. Exactly. Every one of these disgusting cases NEED to be prosecuted. They need to be seen as one of the many many roots of police brutality. It cannot be OK to do attempted murder by cop. Cops need to start questioning 911 callers and leave behind the assumption that the caller is always truthful when they are reporting things to the police. The assumption of innocence cannot end with a 911 call.

Another great video Dr Grande. Whilst I don't disagree with your analysis of Amy Cooper, I do find that in a lot of these 'Karen' videos they are reacting badly to being filmed. I must admit, never in my life during an altercation with somebody have I ever thought to get out my phone to record the person and then to distribute it onto the internet. This does seem to me be an incredibly passive aggressive act, a kind of, 'I am going to involve the world in this trivial dispute and make you look bad to everybody' which to me seems like a narcisstic thing to do in itself. Do you have any thoughts on the mindset of Mr Cooper and if those who record altercations with the intent to put it online to expose somebody are not themselves behaving badly? You say that he did nothing wrong, but I can't help but feel that he acted like a bit of a dick himelf in antagonising the woman and then exposing her to the world. Not justifying her behaviour, or that of other Karens, but the internet is awash with these kinds of 'justice/vindication' type videos where people are savagely condemned for their behaviour, but little thought is given to the fact that they were responding to somebody sticking a camera in their face to record them, which is in my opinion at least an extremely antagonising and anti social thing to do.

@@iloveamerica64 Definitely! I just don't get all the hate for this woman when she's alone in the woods, had a male stranger approach her, challenge her and then start recording her. To me she's just an ordinary human being having a primal limbic system reaction to feeling threatened. Most of the responses to these kinds of videos are equally primal. We see a bad behaviour and instinctively want to call out and sound our allegiance to the tribe. Thus some people write nasty comments, even petition for the person in the video to lose their job, and rejoice if it happens, as if it's some kind of karmic justice. All it is, is people having primal limbic reactions and not critically evaluating their feelings.

There are other aspects in the video being analysed that should have been broken down to show us why that isn't what we are seeing here. I think we can all tell it's a performance of a fight response rather than an actual one, and that's before it gets near her making the call.

She wasn’t afraid of him, Never was. She didn’t like him telling her what to do. She wanted to be seen. She wanted to seen as a caring person who has spent the time to train her dog so much that it could be off leash. Isn’t she great. No one will mess with her because she is such a strong person and if they did, one signal from her and the dog would destroy them. That was her thought of how others would see her as. Reality - it would not have mattered who told her to put her dog on its leash. Someone questioning her outward appearance destroys her illusion. She just used a tool that would put fear in that persons mind. Black/Hispanic the fear of the police being called on them. Asians would have been an accent or their education. White - attacking their social status/job. All of them are designed to make someone inferior to them. Something tells me she was in a sorority in college and this is how they dealt with outsiders.

If you suddenly had your name represent everything that is wrong in this world, how would you feel? Would you like to feel embarrassed to tell someone your name? Be aware that Karen-isms can cause more than just irritation; they can be harmful. Stereotyping is never fair, kind, or just - it's always unjust. Adidas Love yes. ❤️❤️❤️. And all the racist apologists in this comment section is worrying to me. I mean, I’m no babe I’m the woods, lol. I know it exists. I’m in the unique situation of having a sister who is 13 months older than me (same olds story/joke to my mother as well as all women having problems conceiving: “adopt a baby. You’ll immediately get pregnant.!” ). They did, and a few months later my mom did. This was in 1966, and my sister is not Caucasian. So the story goes it causes quite an uproar in our middleclass white neighborhood. She was 2 days old when brought home. Between my progressive father who took on anything because it was “the right thing to do, and my mother who was just so delighted to have a baby, ANY baby. A year later I was born and being so close in age we did everything together. We both grew up being told she was adopted, but my 3 year old self didn’t know the meaning of the word. I assumed “adopted” meant she had brown skin because everyone else in the family (I had 2 more younger siblings by now) were white. My mom tells the story now that I would cry “I wanna be adopted too!” 😩😩. I was so jealous of her brown skin and thick kinky hair vs my pasty white skin and thin hair. As we grew she was the typical “first born” high achiever, well behaved (I was a wild child) and having that experience I guess was very instrumental in how I view race relations today. She was my sister, I didn’t see her as any different. But I saw how OTHERS saw her as “different.” My childhood dynamic was a gift that lets me see people of color as regular humans that others raised in white suburbia never got to have. I remember in 5th grade a classmate of mine (who didn’t know my sister was black and Filipina) said “oh black people spend all their money on cars so they have to live in ghettos. I said “WHAT?” She said “yeah , my dad told me that.” 5th grade and I still remember that conversation. Please people, if you has the same kind of parents as Renee Vara did, PLEASE break the cycle. Please.

@Jo Cam : He was in the right. He pointed to the sign. Right ? " Just as Karen's tend to be " ??? No. Unless you think you have a point and can demonstrate it. What is obnoxious about following rules ? I bet you would be the very first Karen up on her hind legs screaming if someone else broke a rule that triggered your " I don't like that " radar just as you are doing here. Do you Jaywalk all the time ? Default on bill payments so you can enjoy the added penalties ? How about if you're having coffee at a sidewalk cafe, your hand bag next to your seat and an unleashed dog comes by, gets curious, maybe scents your cat etc and lifts it leg and urinates into it all over your stuff ? I think you will be pointing to the " leash your dog " sign real quick, hands on hips, flared nostrils, the whole nine yards. Only, being a Karen, you would be more likely to give all and sundry the benefit of about ninety yards of your Karen drama Where did he threaten to poison her dog ? Why "wonder" if he called her some choice names along the way ? Why not do what Amy Cooper did ? Just make something up. All said and done, Mr Cooper is male and black, so your BS will fly.

Karlicia Berry oh no in the court system this would be thrown out in a heartbeat you know why because she’s white and she’s rich and she’s a white woman who is all by her self confronted or so she says confronted by a black man! This black man is bigger than her this black man did nothing wrong she’s the one who did wrong and she’s the one who should be punished but guess what in a court of justice there is no justice this black man will be the criminal!

Mob mentality is so dangerous... By the time we realize what really happened, what the context was, why Christian had a bag of treats, what Christian was known for at that area, Christian activism on the off leash canine issue prior to this encounter.. Amy was cancelled and sentenced without chance of parole, lost her job, she's gone underground... Alone in a park, then a big guy tells you: Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it... She said terrible things, yet, it was presented and adopted with a consistent lack of context.

It really is very telling and important to see how your significant other acts like when an argument happens. How well they communicate their ideas, how responsible they are, do they try to understand your position and thoughts, do they try to seek a harmonious compromise...etc. it’s not easy to be rational when emotionally charged, but it’s an adult responsibility.

@Ken Mason omg, that's insane. It's like the smallest of critism is persieved as an attack on them. My ex backed into a car in the parking lot of a park and this family who happened to be near simply said she should leave a note on the car, per usual. My ex jumped out of the car screaming at these poor people like she was on the jerry springer show 😓 It was soooo embarrassing and unnecessary, I had to physically put her into our car. Long story short, they called the cops, the cops came house, and she was forced to give the insurance info. PS the fan said I was cool tho

Same here, this one girl I dated actually wanted me to treat her like she's was my wife of 20 years. After 2 weeks she was so over bearing I had to create distance. Of course she played the victim HARD, a very manipulative woman. A behavior to keep an eye out for is when someone makes you feel really bad for not doing exactly what they want you to do. Disgusting.

Appreciate this video. This is something POC have dealt with almost daily, taking a walk, in a store, and especially in the workplace. There are Male versions of Amy as well who use or wield their power without provocation or justification. It usually ends in the person who is being wronged, being punished. Sad but true. Appreciate you, Dr Grande.

Ashlyn art it depends on what you mean by black people. My bf is moroccan, and just to help define his skin complexion, I would say he has like a "medium to light african-american" skin complexion. So he's not what people would generally refer as a black man, and sadly, he's faced many issues with Karens and male karens, at work and outside of work of course... he's a freakin engineer, we would think that educated people would know better right? Nope! He's lost jobs because of some racists and insecure white men (less issues with women since he's quite handsome..🤷🏻‍♀️), In stores or on the streets, he see's a difference in the way he's treated when he's with me vs by himself.. plus, he's Muslim, so that makes it even worst! We live in Canada, I'm from Canadian decent, so I got the privileges at birth.. I didn't ask for those, but I'm well aware they're there, even though I would much prefer such thing didn't exist, and I do make sure that anyone around me or that I come across in public never gets badly treated because of their ethnicity, I make sure to call out people's Bs, in their face when they have racist biases, racists judgments or discriminatory thoughts. I also encourage my bf and any of my friends to use my privileges whenever it can help them somehow, cause reality is, they're there, they might as well use them if it's helpful in some way. But all this to say, the issues with these Karens isn't only with african-american black people. And based on the fact that Karens feel powerful compared to some people because they hold the belief that these other people are less intelligent than her, I would think that anyone who isn't a white female at that point is exposed to be Karenned..
